Here's a tutorial for Windows 10:

1) Open 'This PC'.

2) Right click on an empty space and click 'Add a network location'.

3) Go through the prompts ('Choose a custom network location') and in the 'Internet or network address' field input the 3DS FTP like this:

So it turns out that changing the file size through the hex editor somehow fucks up the wav file's signature and therefor it doesn't work in EveryFileExplorer.

I don't know what else to do to make it work.
