Honestly, the game isn't THAT casual. There's a lot of luck so I still say it's stupid for tournaments. But as you play the game more, you learn to counter-act it. And all those "shitty shooting mechanics" claims everyone makes when they first play start to fade away as you learn how to actually flank in the final circles and deal with the bullet drop that varies between the two rifle bullet types.

This confuses me. I get the appeal of pubg; every encounter matters because it's a single life game, yet the matchmaking system starts everyone out on even ground at the start so it's fair. If you're good you can reliably win almost every encounter as well, so it has appeal to skillful players as well as shit players.

This is the first time it's a standalone so I doubt he's going to make it under another title. I didn't play the Arma or H1Z1 one because I didn't want to have to buy a military sim or another zombie game. Not saying the game is any better as a standalone, I don't know, I've only played this one. But it helps for marketing purposes at least for the game to be just this, it doesn't have any relation at all to the games it was modded for and is in fact more popular than those base games now.

I don't see the problem with that. If you want to survive the first 5 minutes guaranteed then land somewhere that other people aren't landing. Landing in a hot zone is a kill or be killed scenario and the only really luck based area of the game. It's a high risk/high reward scenario though because if you survive a place like the school then you're going to have a shitload of good loot right away, if you die quickly you get to join a new game quickly and try again. Seems fair to me.

It's not, that's the answer. You should know what places to land and how to play based on what loot you get. The circle placement should inform how long you have to loot vs movement. Yeah some weapons are better than other but good players have loot decent enough to win 100% of the time. And if you don't have ranged power? Don't engage in ranged battles. Want more loot without the looting? Don't avoid players and kill them for their loot. Want to win more engagements? Get better aim

ive been playing FPS since 1993 when doom came out. I was close to pro level in quake1, quake2 and CS

Are long range rifles in this game a problem? If I ever find a 4/8x scope and a halfway decent assault rifle or a SKS/KAR 9K then it's braindead easy to get to top 10 at which point it becomes a sniperfest unless the circle closed in a heavily urban area which rarely ever happens.
If you have a 4x or better scope you can shoot people from such a distance that they don't know where they should be taking cover from and thus are an easy kill. Bullet sounds are hard to hear from sniping distances and basically impossible to determine direction if the first shot hits you since you get the damage taken sfx instead.

They're too good to NOT take and extremely easy to use even at extreme ranges and when on the receiving end it's incredibly frustrating to be doing well in a round and then die in 1 or 2 shots from someone you had no chance of seeing or figuring out where you got shot from in order to try and take cover. I feel the game would benefit from a directional indicator when you get shot in these instances.
I mostly play on first person servers since they got added since if you want to sit by a window scoping the horizon out all day you at least have to have your head poking out, putting the sniper at risk which makes it a bit fairer.
