No one knows. Bamco made noises about wanting to make three games in that setting, but after Zesty's disastrous reception no one's sure what will happen. Berseria was made as-is because it had started production while Zesty was in development hell and they couldn't afford to change it by that point. It's funny before the interview Alishafags insisted that TOZX was what Alisha was originally supposed to be, but when the Ufotable president came out and admitted that it wasn't, and even the guy who designs the kamui outfits pointed out that he never even conceived any design for Alisha using Armatus, that threw cold water on the situation and put everything into perspective.

Alisha was created as a side character whose story has nothing to do with Sorey's or the overall story for Bers/Zest at all. She's a character that's completely unimportant, and could easily be deleted and really all that would change is that you wouldn't have her giving you false information at the beginning of the game (which would actually clean up the narrative and thus allowed more time to focus on literally everyone else).

That's very appealing, but it also means more Rose. And unless improving the narrative also means improving the characters, I can live with what we got. The whole point to Rose was originally that she challenged Sorey's views and in turn and most importantly also had her own views challenged by Sorey. The end result was that they'd both grew as people. Lunarre was supposed to help her with this, since he was the walking example of her mistakes. She was supposed to own up to her mistakes and change as a person which is why she chose to be the next shepherd.

Mikleo got his character arc about his loneliness and desire to be human cut out completely.

Lailah got her love story with Michael cut.

Edna got her going through the 4 stages of grief and understanding her brother cut.

Dezel got his past cut, and as did Zaveid.

In fact with the seraphim it seems that what was cut were things that would have made them appear more human. And with Rose it was supposed to be her change as a person. Alisha didn't fit in any of this which is why she was the odd one out or "not a true companion".

That all sounds amazing. Makes me wonder what the hell happened that it got so far off-track. I know Japanese devs don't do retrospectives like Western devs sometimes do, but in this case I'd be interested in finding out why things went so wrong. The whole idea behind Zestiria is really that people saving the world not out of the goodness of their own heart but rather just because its a means to an end. In other words it seems that originally Zestiria was more of a character driven story. The story moves because of the characters' desires cause it to move. It's funny when Velvet meets Sorey she points out that they're aren't too different from her and in fact they have the same type of logic regarding how they see the world.

Yeah I feel the same way, in Zestiria she's just a Mary Sue, it wasn't until I saw the manga that I even found her tolerable. When I read about some of the information about the characters in the guidebook, heard about the series being in development hell for a while, and then also read the interview where the head director admitted that Alisha caused problems due to waifufags in the staff wanting to keep her around and make her more prominent, did it all make sense.

Many of the japanese and importers as well as straight up retards threw a huge fit over what happened with Alisha as a character. While slightly bothersome that isn't the real issue the game should get some hate. Overall it's a very rushed and unfinished title.

You had two main character routes in the game that came out just before it, makes total sense for them try it again. In Zestiria you get a taste of the political side and then it's ignored, you deal with the publics view of the Shepherd a couple of times then that gets forgotten too, not to mention how utterly pointless and forgotten Maltrans side story ended up being with Alisha having herself cut from the game.
