How was the WW2 Beta?

Aside from atmosphere, why do some people prefer CoD4 to MW2?

MW2 has much more variety in terms of locales and missions and they fix some major gameplay problems MW1 had like enemies spamming grenades on higher difficulties. Spec Ops mode is also a lot more fun than Arcade Mode.

On top of that, I'd say that Shepard is a better villain than Zahkaev, but that's a personal opinion.

MW2 was a continuation of MW1's commentary though. The entire plot is about defining what makes a "hero" and showing how the consequences of US interventionism were still being felt.

Sheperd technically wins in the end, since he is remembered as a hero, so it's not exactly a Hollywood happy ending.

I want the next game to abandon the whole "realistic" approach and just go for broke. Imagine a non--linear campaign mode where you choose specific missions with branching storylines. For example, you can choose to defend an energy plant, or infiltrate a weapons factory. If you choose the weapons factory, the bad guys capture the energy plant and that changes the story. Would also be nice to have a semi-RPG element to it. For example, you buy and mod guns back in the hub, and those are the only guns you bring with you to your next mission. Any guns you find during the level will have limited ammo. There would be certain "gun rooms" where you can replenish ammo for an enemy's gun, or places where you can hack communications and have friendlies airdrop you more supplies. Semi-open world would be nice as well. Past games have done very large levels before, so this can be done. And couch-co op mode in campaign would be great too. Furthermore, they should bring back the customization options in Advanced Warfare. It went a ways towards making each player feel unique instead of one of a set like how the recent hero classes have been doing. And really, abandon the whole realistic thing. Have there be aliens and monsters and shit.
