Snipers are hardly a problem because they need to see you to shoot you, it's those faggots who you have to get into a fire fight with but they're actually good.

Snipers are only a problem when the game designs the snipers to be viable in EVERY scenario.

That's bad game design. Snipers are good at long range BECAUSE they're the only ones good at long range. Making them have virtually no kick and extremely destroys at mid and close range makes them an end-all-be-all for all skilled players, making the game stale and decreasing the game's skill complexity objectively.

Every CoD since like 4 is guilty of this.

It's not a question of gitting gud. Sniping is one of the easiest ways to cheese kills out of a game. It's just that sniping is really boring and throws off the overall flow of a game. I'm convinced the only people who enjoy sniping are opiate addicts who are lax enough to find sitting still and occasionally aiming a gun to be fun.

End-all-be-all meta-guns for each weapon types (Guns that serve as the best of its class objectively) are another problem in the FPS genre, with games constantly trying to turn competitive FPS into a loot-drop MMO.

One way to fix it would be if games didn't let you use your sniper like a pistol. Hmm, my Barrett 50 cal is a 30 pound, 50 inch mounted gun? No problem! I will run around with it and shoot a guy while jumping!
