Multiplats are important. Combined with great exclusives it probably seals the deal for a lot of people.

WiiU wasn't going to have staying third party support because it was in the power range of a PS3/360 and the PS4/X1 were about to release.
But with mid-gen releases, multiplats aren't that important anymore because people are getting a second console by that time.
