Well Harry was a single father who found out his adoptive daughter wasn't technically real. Then went through hell and his reward was another girl who didn't make it out of her teenage years before he was murdered.

James only really suffered if you chose certain endings.

Heather had a sheltered life but had to go through Silent Hill as a teenage girl after the death of her father. Also threw up a god.

Henry....was barely a character. He didn't ever really emote enough to make you thing he was unhappy about his situation. Eileen suffered more.

Travis had a dad who hung himself, a mother who was committed and got cucked by Kaufman. Really though he didn'g have it too bad. Alessa wanted to help him so he was spared from the worst of it.

Alex had to watch both his parents murdered in front of him (one pleaded with him to shoot her.) He also had to kill the vengeful spirit of his kid brother. He was institutionalized for most of his adult life.

Murphy had it easy. His kid died and he shanked the fucker responsible. The worst he had to deal with was a bit of rain.

Cheryl from Shattered Memories dealt with the divorce of her parents and her father's death in a car accident. If you believe some of the side stories, she may have been date raped, caught in an indecent situation with a teacher and accidentally stabbed a guy. Spent her life in therapy but didn't have to go through the 'real' Silent Hill.

Mount the ISOs of 2 & 3, and then run their installers like always.
The SH1 is a PS1 rip that you gotta emulate.
The "sh2proxy" is a all-in-one fix, that works as a no-cd crack as well. It is included in the pack.
If you use the NEW fix mentioned in the guide, you can use the sh2proxy's EXE as the no-cd crack!

In case you experience issues saving the game / not being able to edit the disp.ini, make sure the files aren't set to "Read Only", and run the game as Administrator.
If SH2 gets stuck in a black screen upon launch, close it and re-start it again.

SH2-4 do not support Xinput gamepads. Either use Xpadder, a DirectInput pad, or just play with KB+M.
You can now see some decent emulator settings for SH1 as well in the guide. If the image of the game does NOT fill your entire screen in fullscreen mode, check your plugin AND GPU control panel's image scaling settings!
Also give the new PGXP emulator a shot for a lot less wobbly PS1 graphics.

1 doesn't have a PC version nor did it come with the HD collection, but you can buy it on a PS3 for like $5.
I think the PC version have some issues that weren't in the console versions, and I think SH4's PC cutscenes run at half the framerate for some reason, but it's been a while since I've looked into it.
You can probably get the PS2 versions of 2,3,and 4 for $20+ each if you think glitches might effect your experience.
