Recently played it for the first time and finished it on stream. Used the silent patch and a few other mods.

Fun game, ending is a bit rushed but overall its an enjoyable experience.

Playing my annual playthrough right now. The Angel Pine/San Fierro missions are boring, but it's all worth it getting to Las Venturas with the Toreno/Casino heist missions and eventual return to Los Santos.

Someday I'll do a 100% run, but I just fucking love dressing up CJ in so many ways every playthrough. Also finding a new appreciation for Master Sounds and K-Jah West.

Is it possible to play single player campaign with mods without crashing?

I just wanted resolution and draw distance, with a locked at 60 framerate, but I'm always crashing.

San Andreas was the perfect GTA game.

The story was truly sprawling and epic, the gameplay still holds up today, the soundtrack was amazing and all the old characters were a nice touch.

I keep SA installed on an old laptop and have played it on and off for years. Holds up great. After a few minutes you adjust to the older graphics and the game is just fucking fun.

Don't stress about mods. See if you can find a version that hasn't had the music removed. If you have the old CDs, you're golden. Enjoy!

I played it about a year or two ago, still holds up really well imo, it was one of the few games I can come back to every so often and still have a lot of fun. It might take a little bit of adjusting in the beginning to get used to it, but once you get used to it the game is a blast all the way through. There's some mods that restore some processing effects that the PS2 had among other things, but frankly I've always played it with just the patch and never had much of an issue.

Played through this again just a couple months ago, didn't look into any mods or anything but yes I would absolutely recommend playing through again. I play it every year,

the humour gets better. graphics really are shit, but you get used to it and learn to love them as they are.

The Missions still are pretty fun to do, due to it's diversity, even with some frustrating ones inbetween.

In terms of Gameplay, this is still my favorite GTA.

Like I said I tried to play SA but I couldn't play the game past the second or third mission. It kept freezing up. Then I remembered you couldn't shoot freely in the car and I turned it off and played V multiplayer with friends.

While I still do play GTA:O from time to time, sure it can be decently fun, even you have to realize Rockstar has fucked it up, especially with gunrunning

Flaws like

>Everyone shows up on the map at all times
>No ability to create custom lobbies or anything like that
>Introducing severely broken vehicles in gunrunning such as the oppressor, APC, and MOC
>Making everything money gated and making things increasingly more expensive just to sell shark cards, gunrunning was the absolute worst at this and didn't even add in a good way to make money
>Again making the game based around microtransactions is a shitty model
>Some interesting game modes, but not as many people will play things out of the ordinary because it might not be as efficient for money

Again I still have a bit of fun with it, partially because hackerbux, but GTAO had the potential to be so much more. I really don't have a lot of faith for whatever online they have planned for GTA VI because you know damn well it's going to be just as money and microtransaction focused.

Can anyone explain to me why do I remember every single street and location in San Andreas, Vice City and GTA III, but I don't remember anything from GTA IV or GTA V?

III and Vice City were rather small, but San Andreas was massive, yet I remember all of it?

Either those cities had something unique and memorable about them and these new cities are boring, lifeless and generic as fuck or I was a kid back then and my brain worked differently and it was easier to memorize something when you were younger. But fuck, I'm not that old yet...

It's the plot of about any crime-centric story that follows a single main character. It's boring as shit to just have the main character be already at the top and nothing else happens. The story has to be either about their initial beginnings and eventual rise, or about their fall from grace and a goal to rise back up or burn it all down in revenge. It could be just sheer number of hours spent roaming them. I know that despite all the thousands of hours I've played San Andreas I sometimes get confused in the Richman area, and I chalk that up to the place being really hilly and spending most of my playtime anywhere else on the map.

Probably because through your nostalgia goggles SA felt a lot bigger than it actually was. The individual components of the map really aren't *that* big, but there's a large amount of diversity and interesting things to find around almost every corner.

GTA 5 has a massive map but most of it is just featureless nature and highways that aren't fun to play on or particularly memorable.
