Besides, if it's Flynn heading up the writing, he could literally continue where he left off anyway, with a few minor changes to his storylines.

Will the original characters from SatAM still be in it? They're just as iconic to the comics as Sonic and crew are. And what is IDW going to do for stories? The only games Archie didn''t cover are Lost World, 3-D Blast, and Labyrinth (Sonic 2006, Shadow the Hedgehog, and Colors did happen in the nu252's history before the point where Sonic and Tails return to their world from Worlds Collide. I feel that's going to be one of the most difficult things to do, because for those 24 years Archie Sonic has covered nearly every game as it came out/soon after it came out between its original stories, so IDW retreading them will feel a bit redundant.

I said MOST of them. I know Kukku is from Tails' Adventure, and Wendy Witchcart and her trio of goons are from Tails' Skypatrol. Problem is that they're pretty much the only other villains in the franchise. Erazor Djinn and King Arthur/Merlina don't count because they're in storybooks, and all of the various monsters are just Eggman plans that went awry.
