The cards you could scan had a significant effect on their performance. Laser with no power was worthless while a lvl 5 powered up laser was a guarantied win in most accounts. Speed cards basically turned the thing into one of those old 90's "high speed" RC cars.

The armors that you could also get for them did things like extend punch range or change the shape of the fist, make it harder to push them over, made going after the tail nearly impossible, or just straight up make using the laser worthless.

There was a built in point system for the cards when you would win, can't say we ever really used it or paid attention to it anyways.
