You really do beat the guys though, both Nyx Avatar and Izanami (still finishing P5 so I dunno about that one). Sure, you need to use those special skills and whatnot, but you get full fights before the bullshit sweeps in.

This boss isn't kino. This boss is some random mish mash of things. Kino is the german word for cinema. In other words it's a physical location. You can't watch movies inside of this boss so it's not a kino. No amount of TV shitposting and autism will ever change this simple fact.

I'm a Personafag but I'm not dumb enough to defend the atrocious combat in every game. They're fun and flashy as fuck, and the Nyx battle is great for the atmosphere/music/hype, but it's not a technically good bossfight by any stretch of the imagination.

No other Personafags accept this though, and arguing with them is arguing with a brick wall. They literally think more RNG elements is good game design. They literally think that damage sponges make great bosses. They literally think needing to quit a bossfight and go back in time for a few days to completely reorganize your equipment and personas in order to beat the boss is smart difficulty. I fucking love the series but it's fans are holding it back so much, it's saddening.

Personafag here.

The buildup (except for dead December) and character SL previous to the final boss is great. The fight itself is way too easy and it being so easy makes it unjustifiable to have it be so long. It tries to switch up things but ultimately it fails to be interesting or force the players to adapt. The only difficult thing about it is RNG and while an RNG-y boss or midboss is acceptable, a final boss never is.

Shido in P5 is a good example of this sort of fight done well. He is extremely powerful, has a movepool that gains and looses moves and his resistances switch too. Even the music evolves as the fight unfolds.

Its just a much more complex battle that achieves everything Nyx Avatar set out to do much more elegantly, keeping it to 5 phases rather than fucking 13.

My one problem with it is that Shido holds back too much before going into his last stage. By that point it was just 1-2 rounds and he was dead before the battle peaked one last time.

Shido is a bit RNG too, with what rebellion, ailments and just all the stuff that can go awry in the battle (its plenty, trust me), but this is acceptable and even adds to the challenge because should you loose to shido you don't restart the battle from zero.

Having to go through the whole boring drivel most of the Nyx Avatar if you die is what really kills it for me. Specially because the battle is so. Damn. Long!... On the other hand if Shido isn't dead in 15~20 minutes you probably are.
