the only VR worth a shit is phone VR, it's incredibly cheap and you can watch virtual reality porn, which is sadly the only worthwhile thing VR has to offer right now.

VR has two uses.

>Simulators,
and
>Eroge.

Anything else and the technology is not going to be affordable to the demographics of consumers that most companies are marketing towards.

AxonVR is something that might make the ideal of VR work in settings where walking around is necessary, but that's likely to cost a few thousand dollars at least.
>>
VR definitely has a future in areas such as medical training. It just doesn't have a future in video games.

there are games for VR the problems is that traditional AAA games don't work well on VR, but arcade games are awesome in VR.
>>
>>383533220
he's talking about the kind where you put your phone into a head-fanny-pack-with-lenses.

there's a mode to enable VR screen-splitting, and your phone already has a gyro.

>Early VR is expensive
>Technology improves and becomes cheaper

>>
>>383532128
Devs would have to actually be competent and make games run well in order to do that
>>
Why even buy an oculus when there is a chink vr headset with 4k resolution (2x more than rift or vive) that costs 400$?
>>
>>383532343

They've fallen for it the past, they will fall for it again when they try to do VR again in a few decades.

This will keep happening, and it will keep never working since for most people no amount of tech will stop the vertigo.
>>
>>383533413
>New and innovative
There were VR headsets in the 90s.
>>
VR was always just an overrated gimmick. It sounds neat and can be fun to try, but once you've experienced it the magic is gone. And now that smart phones have their own VR gimmick, where you just throw a phone in some goggles and wear it, there's less need to go out and buying a stand alone VR set.
>>
>>383533460
>still more expensive than an entire console or half a good PC

>>
>pricing it anything above 250 dollars
>expecting people to buy it

they deserve it for being so fucktarded. People will not pay more than that for this shit. It's a fun little gimmick, nothing more.
>>
>>383532013

>>

It's pretty amazing, even at the $75 price point.
>>

VR is not good for any 3rd person videogames.

It shine with simulation and fps. Imagine piloting your ship from planet to planet or your fighter jet.
>>
The 90s killed VR. People remember how terrible it was back then and it really hasn't improved enough to distinguish itself. It still has "that shitty gimmick" stigma

Imagine that, people aren't willing to spend thousands on both a powerful PC and a clunky headset riddled with wires. Plus needing to dedicate an entire half of a room to setup those sensors so you can walk around a bit. Meanwhile AR only needs your phone, something everyone already has. VR was and always will be a meme.

VR is like 3D. It has been tried before and failed, and it will always fail. Consumers have very clearly demonstrated that 3D and VR are for a niche market and utterly unpalatable to the mainstream. 3DS only took off after Nintendo stopped advertising the 3D elements altogether and just advertised it as a DS successor.

Same goes for gambling, if you aren't tapping into gambling addicts for their irrational love of casino, pachinko, or the Price is Right, then you don't seem to understand that the market for this garbage isn't people who love technology and VR experiences but stupid boring people who think that the idea of a vacation is traveling across the world so they can sit at a resort/boat and drink cheap booze.

Why the fuck would I want to simulate a walk in the woods when I can just literally go for a walk in the woods. Even the most redneck backwater has a place where they'll give you a gun and let you shoot as much shit as you want or if you're willing to pay a bit more, you can pick up very realistic looking air guns and shoot each other.

hmmm HMMM, let me stop you for a moment

First, you go ''there's an investigation'' which i can get behind. It,s the FBI job.

Then, you conflate it with russia hacking. Ie if there is an investigation then Russia hacked ?

Here we go innocent until proven guilty ( which has yet to happen, 9 month later) this isn't CHI-na
>>

Comey then reopened the investigation and killed Hillary's chances of winning anyway so what is your point exactly?

Comey isn't an angel but he's a whole lot more trustworthy than Trump. For one thing he knows what's appropriate for a President to ask the Director of the FBI and Trump repeatedly acted inappropriate. We know Trump simply doesn't understand etiquette of this level, he has a surface-level understanding of practically everything.

Comey knows lying under oath is fucking deadly. Trump, I think, honestly does not, or knows that ONLY lying under oath will absolute do him. He probably will never agree to testify to anything without immunity.

An innocent man does not need immunity to speak freely. Mark my words and watch Trump in the coming months. Qualify any statement by what concessions he extracts.

The SC made it clear the ban should not exist by the time of it's scheduled hearing. They lifted the hold on it because the stated intent of the ban was so that Trump and co could look at and implement better vetting procedures. The block prevented even looking into the vetting. The SC lifted the block so now Trump has his 90 days to fix US vetting procedures and review them. The ban was never signed to be permanent or even until further notice. 90 days. If 90 days pass and Trump's attorneys come to court with no evidence or changes to vetting, the SC is likely to ask why Trump's administration didn't do anything during the window.

Trump will need to have done something by then as the clock is ticking.

>Illegals and refugees are not solely who the ban goes after.

Do you really think these hackjob idiots can understand that anon?

Trump has on a number of occasions made jabs at certain industries for political points. There's been a few times where the news have covered a random employee or two from companies getting tied up by the ban. There's a real possibility that if Trump had went unchallenged (or more accurately didn't get caught with his pants down by fucking with military translators) he could have literally strong armed a number of companies by threatening part of their employee base.

Let's not forget that this ban not only sets a precedence for Muslim majority countries in the middle east and Africa. But also can be adjusted for south asian countries as well since they are also majority Muslim countries. Arguably more so than the middle east.

And wouldn't you know it there's shit going down in one of those South Asian countries right now. Gee I wonder who will get hit with temporary ban next down road.

if the VR headsets were cheaper, AND had actual games, (exclusive ones) and not just tech demos, they'd do better.

Not to mention, just selling the headset is a tough sell. it's basically just an overpriced peripheral for the PC, which means it still requires you to have a gaming pc to play games with it, which is also a roadblock.

IMO this sort of thing would be best sold to bars and whatever is left of the arcade business. Hell, if the Arcade Business was still a thing even, this would be big, and would lay the groundwork for future home VR.

after all, Videogaming started in arcades, and then made its way into the living room

but the whole point of exclusives is to entice people to buy your system.

this goes back to the issue of VR just being a peripheral for the PC.

You still need a PC capable of running modern games.

and even if VR did through magic, act as its own console as well- why would I bother buying it for a game that i can get on PC or console?

There's a reason exclusives used to be a big deal. Sonic sold Sega consoles. Mario sold Nintendo Consoles. Crash bandicoot and Lara Croft sold PS1 consoles.

So first off:

-VR needs to be more than just a peripheral
-VR needs to be cheaper if it wants to get people's attention away from Sony and Microsoft
-it needs exclusives

the most likely outcome of all of this is just a continuation of what Sony was doing, dipping it's toes in the VR pool with a headset that uses the PS4 to play games, while independent VR companies either merge with existing consolemakers, or just disappear

It was fucking great years ago when it was just a different way to view games, trading pixel density and pixel gaps for a hugely improved FOV, and all the asinine control schemes were unaffiliated side projects like they always have been. Then Fuckerberg got involved, it was made proprietary, the goals changed, and now it's shit. I'm not even sure you can play as many games with it now as you could when it was in development. People were making mods for all kinds of games to use it because it was easy as shit to add a second camera and have the rendered image distorted. Now there's like three different headsets each with their own dildo controllers and I have no idea what works with what.
