I think at this point, they won't increase the roster by size that much anymore. How many characters are there now? Like 50 with the dlc? It's incredibly difficult to balance so many fighters.

I also don't see that many franchises left, that are untapped and are either from Nintendo or have a history with Nintendo. What's left? Golden Sun, Advance Wars (both more or less dead) and some franchises that wouldn't work (Wave Race, Eternal Darkness etc.).

I guess in the end they will add a new pokemon or two, a new 3rd party character, a new fire emblem character, someone from the mario universe, maybe the protag from xenoblade chronicles 2 and an inkling.

I used to be friends with the maker of this Ridley mod, and he originally worked on Brawl Ridley first but he was rather new to making a complete mod so it ended up (no pun intended) too big file size wise to work correctly in Brawl. So he used a modified Other M model, and although it's not everyone's preference, it's vastly better than the default Ridley model in Smash 4, that one is really disgusting looking.

Personally if they could hybrid the design of Ridley like they did with Roy he would be a perfect fit in Smash (again no pun intended.) Even then the OM version still can be done rather well with the right animator for the job.

I don't care about wavedashing, but I do want momentum in jumps, an option for custom moves but no equipment (and on that note, unlocking custom moves without RNG even worse than Melee's Trophies that you just mocked), a Classic Mode that isn't 8 Player Free-For-All all the damn time, a mode where you can have different characters per stock without the whole Smash Tour thing frontloading it, Smash Run and Smash Tour with actual options to customize the experience to your liking, and maybe Omega stages that aren't all Final Destination reskins.

the problem with smash wii u's classic mode is that there's literally no fucking structure

it's not like in melee, where the first stage is a regular battle, then the second stage is a team battle, then the third a target test, etc and most of the fights are actually themed around a series (ie fight an army of marios on mushroom kingdom 2). in smash wii u it's just a bunch of random stages with completely random characters with no structure or order or themeing.

it's a fucking mess. they should of just ported over the classic mode from the 3ds game because that did a far better job of combining variety (with the different pathways which was a welcome addition) and structure together.

Shulk, Bayonetta, and Corrin were the only newcomers I didn't care for.

Shulk was an unfortunate, but smart decision. I didn't really like the game or the character, but even though the Xenoblade series had only one game at the time, it was clear that Nintendo had big plans for it.

It's pretty obvious that Bayonetta didn't win the ballot. With how intricate the character is, I'm sure the Smash team was working on her long before the Ballot was over. I'd much rather have any of the most requested characters over her.

Corrin, however, is a stupid and bad choice with no redeeming qualities whatsoever. No one asked for him, or even any more Fire Emblem characters after Roy, and no one was excited for him in the slightest. Sakurai was really pushing his stupid love for the series too far when he made the decision to add 4 (four) new Fire Emblem characters to the game.

In Smash, Snake was cut likely due to Konami going the way of pachinko, IC due to technical limitations with 8 player mode on 3DS, Pichu because it straight up sucked and should have never ever been in Smash, Dr. Mario because he was a clone and Brawl tried to de-clone many characters.
