You fought alien invaders and all the non-symbioted army was on your side, there was absolute none of that "fuck the police" attitude anywhere, Jade was a reluctant hero, not a gangbanger.

First BGE is what I'd call "art from adversity". Lacking budget and capabilities allowed them to develop a small but charming game; turning it into a persistent online open world with 2cool4school attitude is totally going against what made it work.
