No one minds an attractive Samus. The reason we bitch is because we all genuinely liked Samus specifically because her characterization was minimal but complete. We knew she had a purpose, we knew she was tough and we knew she was hot. They left the rest up to imagination. She was a proper approach to subtlety which is the strongest tool a writer has. Zero Suit is boring looking but that isn't the issue. The problem is they essentially removed the power suit as the defining aspect of her character design and glued her identity to this stupid blue latex suit that is boring to look at. I put Zero Suit Samus in thinking I wanted to include more characters from the popular Metroid series. Also, since Smash Bros. has few female characters, I was quite happy to include her.

When it comes to adding new fighters, it should be about the characters themselves, not because a game series needs to have a specific amount of characters compared to other series. This is my favorite design for what Samus wears underneath the suit and I'm kinda disappointed that it wasn't in ZM aside from the ending. I do get kind of a vibe that it's what Samus wears on her downtime though.

Honestly, my problem with the Zero Suit is that it just looks like blue latex with a Choco symbol, color deviation and the pink glowing part on her back. It's less like a bodysuit I imagine someone wearing under combat armor and more like sci-fi civvies or even pajamas or some shit.

Samus would probably do better with her other outfits to emphasize she really is defenseless without her Power Suit, or tweak the Zero Suit to look a little more combat-ready and armed; because you'd think she'd fucking learn to be prepared incase another Zero Mission happened.
