For anyone who seriously thinks this is a Valkyria Chronicles related game: it isn't even slightly. They only stole some plot points. NOTHING about the game is like Valkyria Chronicles whatsoever. It's incredibly low budget trash that has no idea what it wants to be as a game and no idea how to achieve basic playability. The waifus are bad, the cutscenes make Telltale look like flowing animation, the gameplay is utter bullshitty musou-light tripe with completely token, flow-breaking 'tactical abilities' like guns and grenades that are basically magic spells, your primary method of attack is stupid anime swords and scythes, the bosses are occasionally impossible to look at due to the camera, it feels just awful, the environments look worse than a Tales game, the character models are barely better. It's SHIT. I don't get what Sega don't understand about why the first one is so well-regarded.

When it comes to Valkyria Chronicles my expectations couldn't be lower. They had something magnificent and ruined it in record time. There were so many possibilities and they instead shoved it on a handheld and gave it a generic fucking HIGH SCHOOL STORY of all things. 3 was okay but a total retread and still stuck on a handheld, when they could have done something cool like advance the timeline to the cold war (since it's just aping mid 20th century European history) and KEEP THE FUCKING QUALITY UP ON A HOME CONSOLE. I'm actually quite angry.

I mean, I don't know what people were expecting. Japan utterly bombed this game, to the point the product reviews are almost bullet lists of what is wrong with the game.

I guess it was ballsy for Sega to try to release it in the west at a lower price, possibly to capitalize off of the success Chronicles had PS4 and PC. But it also feels like Sega of America expected this thing will fail.

Usually, if a game comes out for well below standard price point, it's either a budget title or has low confidence.
