Slap on a 0.49 title for laughs and call it good.
>>
>>381723271
Played it.

The shop minigame was boring and the dungeon crawling was basic and tedious.
Plus the game was surprisingly unforgiving.

But it's sort of on the right track. I liked the game, even though it left much to be desired.

>>381724580
Not true. Yes, L4D2 has the maps from L4D1 in it, but L4D1's gameplay is more balanced AROUND those maps. 9/10 people will tell you that L4D1 is MUCH better experienced in its own game, without all the new stuff from L4D2 which retracts more than it adds.

So in the last thread you guys rightfully mocked me for paying 4 euros for E.Y.E. and only buying Portal now. You mean the trading card things? Yes, in the steam marketplace. Make sure you list it so it sells for the same price as the lowest or 1 cent lower than the lowest one in the market. Played it for... 91 minutes, according to steam. Found the controls fairly annoying (like how you can't stutterstep with just the mouse and a bunch of other stuff I let in my feedback to no doubt be ignored) and the gameplay pretty shallow. Not to say that it was bad, just only really entertaining for an hour and a half without leaving me any desire to go back.

what's a good game under $12 that i can't pirate?
>>
>>381726484
It depends what you mean by exploration

If exploration of small environments, as in look at all the items in a room and/or interact with them, then, not even memeing you, you'll probably enjoy Life is Strange and Gone Homo. I'd pirate Gone Home for sure, it's definitely not worth paying money for, but LiS is a steal for $5. I went into it thinking it'd be an SJW game like /v/ always tells me but it was one of the best game I'd played in a long time and all the lies /v/ told me were wrong. Both games are the epitome of comfy, that's at least guaranteed.

If you mean like world exploration, then maybe Euro Truck Simulator 2, Elite Dangerous if you want space exploration, and of course there's always the classic MYST. Sid Meier's Pirates also comes to mind. The Talos Principle is also comfy and has puzzle solving in interesting environments but maybe not the kind of exploration you want.

AVOID The Witness. It's bad.

NEW VEGAS DON'T LSITEN TO THIS OTHER RETARD

FALLOUT 3 IS ATROCIOUSLY WRITTEN AND THE MECHANICS ARE TRASH

The mechanics are still trash in NV but at least it's a real Fallout game with good writing which will hold up how shit the shooting is
The ONLY good thing about Fallout 3 is the exploration, which New Vegas has exactly the same but better, and if you wanted good exploration with shit writing, you'd get Fallout 4 since it has decent combat

Also make sure you get the ultimate edition, the DLC is some of the best in any game

FO4.

FO3 is pretty clumsy, but it's more action-oriented.
New Vegas is a walking simulator. Tons of dialog. Tons of empty space. Tons of roleplaying. Not a very good action game. Not a very good adventure game because enemies above your level will rape you. Both have antiquated graphics at this point.

Imo, unless you REALLY love dialog trees and empty desert, FO3 is better than NV because FO3 still has dialog and story, but it also has a lot of things to DO while NV looks just as bad as FO3 if not worse, and then has lots of boring segments with nothing going on.

FO4 dumbs down dialog even further than 3, but at least it has TONS of shit to do, including settlement building.

M8 the term gained traction as a derogatory way to describe games like morrowind or gone homo. Walking sim is a slang term that means the game has a disproportionate amount of walking to core gameplay. It's not an established genre.

Only complete and utter pleb retards would drop New Vegas because they're "not invested."
The intro to Fallout 3 is the worst thing in the entire series, it's a long sequence of absolutely fucking nothing and is the #1 reason I could see someone dropping it.

In New Vegas you can be started in 30 seconds or 30 minutes based on how you like eto play.

Also this guy >>381728941 is a big retard, don't listen to him either.
Calling NV a "walking sim" is bait beyond human comprehension.
You fucking never have to engage in dialogue or roleplaying if you don't want to, that's why it's an RPG, because you can CHOOSE how you want to play it unlike the other games.

>You fucking never have to engage in dialogue or roleplaying if you don't want to, that's why it's an RPG, because you can CHOOSE how you want to play it unlike the other games.
Bullshit.
You CANNOT advance through NV while avoiding tedious dialog unless you have prior knowledge.

So sure, someone who's beaten the game once or twice before can play it like an action game, but a normal player, playing for the first time, must slowly plod through the wasteland looking for guns, people, clues, etc and then navigate branching dialog trees to advance the story.

It really IS old school in that regard. I just don't think old school is a good thing here. You spend forever walking around empty wastes, shooting a scorpion or an ant or a raider here or there, but not much else happens aside from the odd jaunt into a "dungeon" with a normal enemy layout. That action is few and far between, however. You spend far more time traveling and talking unless you know exactly where to go and what to say to open the map up early.

You're literally making up lies and posting them as advice. You're saying "buh there's no action in New Vegas" even though you can walk around blasting every major character in the head and still complete the game.
Genocidal characters are 100% viable and will level real goddamn fast, making it reasonable to play that way.
Do you have any clue why /v/ has daily New Vegas threads? It's because people are capable of making up new ways to play the game every single day, your unironic Toddposting about "accessibility" is nonsense.

You know what's inaccessible and uninvesting? An RPG where you're literally handed your backstory, motivation, and personality on a platter right from the start when all you want to do is dick around in a wasteland.

As far as I know there's nothing inherently wrong with the Steam versions specifically.

However, people's criticisms come from the fact that Beamdog makes the enhanced editions. They insert some characters in there that people hate and make some small changes to the game. There's also the new DLC they made called Dragonspear I think, which was, as many people said, inclusive of propaganda pushing their political opinions, buggy, and in general a bad expansion.

I believe there were some other reasons for hating Beamdog as well, but people REALLY hate them. I think they may have fucked up the UI for BG1 in one of the patches but it's fixable I think. As a result of all this, most people recommend you pirate the GOG versions of the games instead of giving Beamdog money. Get both of them and then use the BG EE Trilogy mod (or something like that). Not overly familiar but I think it seamlessly connects both games together and most people recommend it.

Yeah no you'd have no idea where to go unless you ask every NPC you can possibly find.

So now you're saying a new player should just go,
>"hurr, there's a lot of shit off in that direction, let's ignore the quests, let's ignore the tutorial, let's ignore the story and enemy levels and run right through powder gangers, ants, and maybe even Cazadores if we decide to take the north pass, because..."

Because why? Why? Why would a new player know that's Vegas.
Why would they know they can skip a lot of the early game?
Why would they want to, if they're new?
How would they know how to do it safely?

Again: You're saying shit that's ONLY true for people with a lot of prior knowledge. None of that shit applies to new players.

>Yeah sorry, the guy trying to figure out what Fallout game to play must have no interest in playing an RPG with like dialogue and choices.
Did I say this? Show me. Where did I say I or the poster should have NO interest in dialog and choices?
Nowhere. You're taking my GENTLE criticism of NV's expansive dialog trees to mean I oppose ALL dialog. That's insane. Only an idiot would leap to that conclusion. Or a coward desperate for ammo to use in a petty e-debate.

Learn to have a discussion without jumping to false conclusions and then using them to make strawmen to attack. That's third grader logic.

No you fucking mongoloid, I'm saying that your criticism is "new players will have to do boring shit" when that is objectively false as fuck. They can engage in any level of roleplaying and exploring as they like, that's my fucking point.
It's NOT hard to shoot up Goodsprings if you want to skip their bullshit, the game gives you a quest to do so if you want.
Or you can just walk right the fuck out.

Are you seriously telling me you think a new player will be completely and utterly incapable of realizing that they can just not do a quest and will be fine? Because in that case YOU'RE the one making an assumption.
You're assuming the guy asking is so stupid that he literally cannot form the concept of choosing for himself in an RPG, which yeah, I guess that is who FO3 and 4 are marketed towards.

I do not have to have "prior knowledge" to know "hey this quest seems boring as shit, I'm gonna skip it and go somewhere that looks cool."

Your "gentle criticism" isn't worth shit because you're not comprehending the fact that the player can have as much conversation as they want.
As mentioned, there's always, ALWAYS an option to just say "where'd the guy in the checkered suit?" and leave if their life story doesn't interest you.
Unless of course, again, you're so fucking stupid that you can't comprehend the idea that you don't have to 100% the game to complete it.

Let's map this out anyway:
Make your character
Do the ONE quest in Goodsprings (which is short)
Walk down to Primm
Do the ONE quest in Primm (which is only as long as you make it)
Walk to the NCR camp
Get the quest to check out Nipton
Walk down to Nipton and holy fuck corpses and fires and Roman cosplayers, wow this is interesting now

This doesn't take long, not even for a new player. Like two hours maybe, and nobody with a brain would start a western RPG and expect it to be action-packed right from the very beginning.
>>
>>381730413

The first third of the game is exciting. So much that I was like "holy shit, finally a space 4x that's better than MoO2"

But then I got to midgame and realized it wasn't. Paradox shoved their forced AI management into the game and everything else grinds to a halt.

Pathologic is a REALLY janky and hard-to-get-into game. If those are your thing then go for it, I've heard it's amazing if it is.
Divinity OS is a game best played with friends, the writing is incredibly bland and the most fun thing is just seeing what spells combo together and how you can cheese the game.

Like, imbalancing the game is the entire point. If you start the game with an invisibility skill, you can rob the starter town fucking blind.
Every vendor, every expensive painting, every single item of worth in town can be stolen and you can overpower the shit out of yourself with the gold.

If you just play the game like a normal RPG and play by the rules it will be very boring.

It's more that there's little reason to play it more than once. There's a "choice" about halfway through that's of no consequence, the combat is easy as hell, and there's no real reason to use any companions besides Butters unless you're trying to self-impose challenge.

Not a bad game, but it's better off as a weekend rental than a purchase outright.

Heya, two questions friendos:

1. Is Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen good? I've heard nothing but praise on /v/ for it and how it's similar to Dark Souls

2. Should I get Beamdog's Planescape Torment remake? I already have the original Torment but I heard they fixed a lot of shit. I also know Beamdog did some SJW shit with Dragonspear.

Thanks and have a great Summer Sale!

>KOTOR Games
You need both. It's divisive. KOTOR 1 is a more complete and very "star wars-y" game. KOTOR 2 has, in the opinion of many people, the best/most interesting writing of any KOTOR game, and takes a completely different tone on the star wars universe, the force, and what is right/wrong, light/dark. Play both. Pirate them if you can't afford.

>Trine
Both 1 and 2 are great. Just get the first one for now if you're on a tight budget. I heard bad things about 3 but never played it

>Thief games
Thief 2 is arguably the best, but Thief 1 has a lot of merit too. T2 has more legit thievery, and T1 has more tomb super creepy tomb raiding. Thief Deadly Shadows (Thief 3) is considered to be the worst as it's designed rather differently than the others. It's more modern. All 3 are worth playing. Don't bother with Thief 4 (reboot). It's beyond garbage. I'd get 1 + 2 for now since they're ultra cheap, and 3 if you can spare the money. If you finish them and want more Thief, there's a fanmade game called Thief 2X, and a fanmade platform called The Dark Mod full of fanmade missions, but play those way later if at all.

>King's Bounty
I'd start with King's Bounty The Legend, and move on to Armored Princess afterwards if you like it. Just follow release order

>Syberia
Must be played in release order, so start with Syberia 1.

Dragon's Dogma is a very janky, poorly-written game that becomes really interesting in the lategame.
You'll spend 20 hours doing a bunch of worthless bullshit and then end up with a really incredibly interesting magic system, monsters you have to manually scale to fight, and other cool shit.

But personally, it wasn't worth it to me. Watch Joseph Anderson's video on it if you wanna see what I mean. Combat with any enemy that's not a giant monster is "spam light attack until you run out of stamina, then recharge and spam again." That's it.

Beamdog is fucktrash, don't buy their games. Dragonspear was bad for a lot of reasons, the SJW shit is the least of it. It's just incredibly poorly written.
SJW stuff can be fine if it's well-written and integrated properly, but it was symptomatic of an expansion that is overall badly-written.

Consider this: the biggest "SJW" element in Dragonspear is that your cleric is transgender. This is outright a central part of their character and it's talked about directly.

In the D&D universe, there is a spell which can permanently and 100% biologically change your gender.
It is not a high-level spell, you could walk into any decently-sized city and find a local wizard-for-hire who will perform that spell for some money, all it will cost said wizard is one spell expenditure until the next time they sleep.

Beamdog ignored this because they're hack writers who didn't care about the D&D universe, and I'm sure as fuck they didn't care about the Planescape universe in whatever changes they made.

Dragon's Dogma is fantastic, but if you go into it trying to play like Dark Souls you won't have a good time. I made that mistake back when it first came out and was very disappointed. Came back to it with the PC release and loved every moment of it. It has this campy RPG atmosphere with a really fun endgame that really makes you feel like your dude has progressed. There's no depth in the character building (people keep raving about the 4 character squad story). It's fucking amazing, but don't go in expecting a perfect game with AAA polish since it's severely lacking in some areas and it suffers from being a cut-down version of what would've been a much grander game. Still amazing though.

i thought it was fun. some parts can be really difficult to do solo. i played with a friend for most of it and enjoyed it well enough. what surprised me the most was i really enjoyed the survival mode dlc, and i usually HATE survival games. it actually gives you goals instead of just "survive until you die i guess".

i'd still play it but it had some retarded memory leak that makes it slow down and eventually freeze after about an hour of play, so i had to constantly restart the game. i've googled for solutions and so far nothing has worked, so i just quit playing. i think it's a pretty isolated occurrence though, as none of my friends had that issue.

I mean yeah man. I'm not one of these /pol/ fucks. I support trans rights and I believe in gender neutral bathrooms as a third option.
But when you're so hellbent on forcing your political beliefs that you will stomp all over an established universe just to try and make people agree with you, you're going about things the wrong way.
D&D can provide a great avenue for commenting on social issues if you want it to, but you have to obey the rules or else anyone who knows anything about D&D will know exactly what you're doing.
Like I said, "social justice" has a place in the world if it's well-presented, because it's just another viewpoint on the world and I'm happy to take a look at it, but jesus CHRIST why the FUCK did they take out the joke in Pillars about a guy who was about to bang a girl and it turned out she was a man in drag?

I'll say that Bayonetta is only 5 bucks more expensive and it's a better Platinum action game.
But if you like oldschool Transformers and are the type of person who likes replaying games on harder difficulties/doing challenge missions (AKA what you're supposed to do with Platinum games), it's a lot of fun.
It's not as complex as Platinum's other games but it's not shallow or anything, it's good fast-paced fun.

Personally I really like IDW's Transformers comics so I think I got a bit more out of it than most others.

Anyone played 7 Days to Die? How is it singleplayer?

For comparison, I absolutely love the shit out of Long Dark and enjoy Subnautica and the Forest reasonably well, but Ark makes me want to kill myself. A lot of what I read about 7 Days to Die sounds interesting but it's hard to gauge how playable it is by yourself or if you have to grind 60 hours to get a wooden club.

Thank you and god bless.

MGSV is a pretty fun stealth/open world game even if you disregard everything else. If you're really not sure about it you can just get ground zeroes. If you've played GZ then V is that but with wayyy more content and some base-management elements that are surprisingly fun.

Depends on what you liked out of it. I assume it wasn't the gameplay so I won't suggest stealth games. If it was the choice and consequences/branching paths your best bet is Age of Decadence. If it was the modern spy thriller theme, I guess Splinter Cell although nothing does it like AP. If it was the mix of RPG and shooter, try Prey (2017), System Shock 1 and 2, Deus Ex (Original, Human Revolution, and Mankind Divided (Additionally these give you a smidge of spy flavor too)).

Kinda in the mood for some old style RPG dungeon action, like old maze games or Ultima Underworld type stuff, but not sure of anything on Steam that can fill that in. Grimrock didn't really do it for me, I like the way old games look.

SoM
>fun the first few hours

>nemesis system makes it interesting
If you want mindless stealth kills and plain fun go ahead.

EYE

>shooting everything because you're told to
>still asking yourself why and is kind of distracting
>you may not do another playthrough after finishing your first
>playing co-op makes you ask the question what along with why

None of this will fill the void or replace the fact that you no longer enjoy video games anymore. That video games are objectively getting better as they increase appeal and gain record profits each year is proof that they are doing exactly what they are meant to.

There is no shame in it, but throwing money at a hobby you only play out of obligation is never going to bring happiness or fulfillment.

Machinarium is a nice point and click puzzle game with some really unique puzzles.
Same goes for grim fandango. The sam and max games are also pretty humorous.
Return to classic wolfenstein is a fucking great fps.
Hollow Knight is pretty good, haven't played much of it though.
If you like strategy rpgs, give disgaea 1 a shot.
Also, beat em ups like dmc 4 and bayonetta are great for a bunch of reasons.

If you're not into those though, check out the penumbra games. Really interesting setting, plot and characters.
If you want a fetish based srpg check out bastard bonds. It's slow to start and a little different, but man all the shit you can do in that game is top notch. Sure there's some blatant gay fanservice but you have to actively go searching for it.

Estival is the better game to buy on PC. The visuals and gameplay feel and look better on a controller and a high resolution screen. Shinovi is a game I enjoyed more playing on my Vita in bed.

Personally I'm hoping that Beach Splash ends up having a decent online playerbase on the PS4 and becomes that first SK game that I spend a lot of online time on. It's a shame that the PC ports come out so late and the online never really gets a chance on that platform.

That's basically what Fallout 4 is. Bethesda knew they were incompetent writers, so almost every quest in the game is someone telling you to walk out into the wastes, do some exploring, and kill some shit.
Joseph Anderson has a good video covering it. That's the side of the game that works best, when it's putting you in an exploration-combat cycle. If you just ignore all the quests and play it like a sandbox shooter exploration game it's pretty fun, but that's not really what people wanted out of Fallout.

Add Shadowrun Hong Kong
>>
>>381740726
You should buy episodes 1 and 2 because they're dang good.
>>
>>381740726
bro, just buy the valve complete pack,
>>
>>381740726
You have to buy the anthologies to get everything, yes.
HL2 itself has aged some, but episodes 1 and 2 are still great.
Opposing Forces is just a great expansion overall so yeah, get the anthologies.

Already have Hong Kong. Are Infinite's DLC that bad?
>>
>>381740814
But that has games that I don't really want to play. I want to save as much money as I can by not having to buy unnecessary games.
>>
>>381740869
Infinite's DLC is fine, just not really worth going out of your way to play. It's more of Infinite except you get to revisit Rapture, that's really it. If you LOVED Infinite then yeah I'd recommend it but eh, it's a ho-hum expansion otherwise.

To put it in perspective, you could get Hollow Knight, Dead Cells, or Furi instead of it right now.

What's the best multiplayer shooter (fps/tps/whatever) on steam right now? Csgo?
>>
>>381741125
CS:GO if you're cheap.
Rainbow Six Siege if you're patrician.

I've pirated about $3000 in 3ds games
Spending $20 on a sale and occasionally gifting stuff isn't going to kill me
>>
>>381740948
well i would suggest buying hl1, hl2, hl2 ep1, hl2 ep2, hl blue shift, hl lost coast, hl opposing force
>>
>>381741125
Probably siege if you have people who give a shit to play with

Getting Borderlands to play with a friend, is VA-11 HALL-A worth it? Might take out Bayonetta and just borrow it from a friend.

Got $10 refunding Hollow Knight. Any suggestions on what I should get with it or put towards something based on my categories?
>>
>>381721974
I got Dragons Dogma. Breddy gud. Except it keeps throwing away my jump key remapping for some reason.
>>
>>381740996
Alright. I ditched DD and Infinite's season pass. Thanks anon.
>>
>>381741369
yeah but you can find the pics without playing the game.
>>
>>381741369
I think you might have to mod it back in but yeah only nudity, there's very little h-content. And a bunch of the characters are unlikeable.
