Ended up buying Darkest Dungeon, Stick of Truth, Stardew Valley, and Hyper Light Drifter. I thought about getting Hollow Knight but saw that it's still planned on getting some DLC down the line so I thought I'd just get it for Switch later this year.

Planescape Torment is a must play isometric rpg, however if this is your first, perhaps i wouldn't start with this one.
/v/ hates Firewatch because it is the most popular walking simulator in recent years, for must people its a love or hate situation. Two positive things to note are the art-style and the story - where you will be left not fulling knowing the secondary character intentions.

Kero Blaster is a solid as fuck little sidescroller with Cave Story combat. If you dig that shit, you'll love Kero Blaster. If you don't, you won't. It has a good amount of content for the price. It is linear though. As in it has levels.

You'll probably have more luck with much older titles then. Like DoDonPachi originals, and Salamander. Kind of a big draw of the genre is the craziness though. Maybe try some other CAVE shmups too, there are a fair few on steam.

Subnautica is great, it's scary as fuck but has a natural development where you go from "terrified scavenger" to "Space Jacques Cousteau, explorer of the depths."
Might not wanna buy it till it's out of early access though, I kinda spoiled the game for myself playing so much and now I can't be bothered to do the new content.

Burial at Sea is worth it if you really loved Infinite but otherwise it's just whatever.

Planescape is famously GOAT but it's also very hard to get into, only go for it if you're a veteran of the isometric walky-talky dialogue Infinity Engine stuff.

Firewatch does an excellent job of building tension and making you think it's gonna be awesome for the first 3/4, then completely fizzles out in the last quarter and feels like a total waste.
Would not recommend it unless you're a masturbatory games journalist.

Yes, Witcher 3 is game of the year all years and the expansions are all great.
P sure GOTY edition is only a couple bucks more than regular edition right now anyway.

Automata is great in its own ways but Witcher 3 is a safer bet. Automata is the kind of game that you play if you want to appreciate a game rather than outright have normal ol fun.

Any good games that are less than $2.50? Kinda running on a shoestring budget right now.

Moonhunters had crap execution,

Planescape Enhanced Edition is decent if you enjoy isometric WRPGs, and they did genuinely improve on the resolution mods people had made. I'd rather get it from GOG, but that is just me.

Kero Blaster is fun.

Prey is definitely more fun to control on the PC than the consoles if you tried that shit demo. It is lacking in some areas but overall pretty fun if you want a FPS/RPGventure. Really garbage on the consoles.

Skip Bioshock Burial at Sea, it doesn't really work, unless you're a huge fan of Infinite and Elizabeth is your waifu.

No idea about Soma or Subnautica.

It's a little bit slower than devil may cry, but doesn't quite have the weapon swapping combos you see in webm threads.
Also button mashing only really happens when you learn about the parry/dodge system. It's kinda like witch time in bayonetta. Button mashing your way out of every situation is a very, very bad idea in killer is dead.
But the combat feels very fluid, tons of ways to mix up your playstyle, and the bosses are really unique. The enemies will fuck you up, but it's not as unforgiving as dmc 4 was.

SOMA is good as an atmospheric horror game, and the story is pretty compelling. It falls flat on the "monsters you have to avoid" areas. I enjoyed it quite a bit.

You can turn off letterboxing and aside from the camera being a bit too close to your character the game plays well.

Cleared it twice without any crashes.
