Recommend some lesser known titles worth playing.

Pic is from STASIS, an isometric point&click adventure in the vein of Sanitarium. Great art, chilling atmosphere, really worth getting.

Deadlight

LIMBO/INSIDE-esque survival platformer with nice visuals and a well executed post-apocalyptic setting. It's $2,39.

Splatter - Blood Red Edition (also sold as "Zombie Apocalypse")

Very polished top down shooter with lots of gore and destructible environments. It's half a dollar.

a well done metroidvania, you will have some cheap deaths and some jumps are too pixel perfect but overall very good.

The greatest 2D Games With Guns on Steam

By the author of Cave Story comes a beautifully linear hyper-focused champion of jump and shoot.
(note: Cave Story is also very great but it is strongly recommended you play the superior original freeware version)

A faithful remake of the classic with the most enthralling movement mechanics the NES ever saw.

The best of the series: Deep and hilariously fun turn based multiplayer.

The Alpha and the Omega of 2D shooting.

From 1991, a monumental achievement whose influence still reigns.

If you liked those, you'll probably like Hero Siege.

Guess that's a general recommend. The game has flaws, but the wide variety of characters/character classes is great and the combat itself is good enough. It's also down 85% at $0.89.

>>381603532
the difficulty of Hero Siege is non-existent and so is the fun
>>
I highly recommend
>Deathtrap Dungeon
Action adventure Dungeon Crawler with incredible dungeon design. Very creative puzzles, secret goodies, and a varied bestiary. Controls are a little dated to be quite honest but they're good for a pre OoT game. It's 80% off
>Gurumin: A Monstrous Tale
Zelda-like by the guys who made Ys. It's a little on the easier side, but the combat mechanics are tight as fuck. The game can be played like a traditional 1 tap Zelda game or you can go for crazy air juggles if you like.
>>
Why has no-one mentioned the huge Talos principle and and zachtronic games discount
>>
>>381602882
If you can get past the graphics, you could check out The Last Door 1&2.
>>
The problem with a lot of these threads is inconsistency of quality. People recommend stuff just because it's cheap (see: Kingdoms of Amalur which comes up every thread).

Here are some games that are pretty agreed upon as great that are dirt fucking cheap:
>Tales of Maj'Eyal
A roguelike with lots of different classes. Mouse support. Easy to learn and get into. Static world-map (mostly) but feels varied as hell. Highly recommended. It gets updates fairly often, too.

>Hexcells Series
Puzzle game that kind of plays like picross. If you're a fan of that, you'll be a fan of this.

>King's Bounty Series
Strategy game where you have units that move on hex-cells. The series is cheap as FUCK and there's a demo as well. It gets tiring after a awhile, but it's damn good. For a similar experience that is also cheap, see Lords of Xulima

>Pixeljunk Monsters
If you like tower defense, this one is great as it is a bit more hands on since you have a little dude to control. It also has co-op, which is actually quite good. All of the Pixeljunk games are good and cheap cheap.

>Puzzle Agent
It's Layton-Lite with less bullshit. Enough said.

>The Wolf Among Us
Telltale's best work. Seriously. It's a damn good point n click.
>>
>>381602214
>Another World
My fucking nigga. No dialogue just fucking pure unfolding minimalist story. Too bad they killed the hero in the sequel.
>>
>>381603912
>People recommend stuff just because it's cheap (see: Kingdoms of Amalur which comes up every thread).
But that game does have a decent rating. Maybe you're the one who's misjudging things.
>>

>>
>>381604486
The combat is as good as Darksiders. Darksiders is a tedious, boring game. I'm just warning other Anons that need a bit more stimulation and quality. I mean I can list more games too, but I tried to pick rarely mentioned stuff, unlike good stuff that gets frequently mentioned like
>EYE
>STALKER series
>Killer is Dead
>Super Meat Boy
>Killing Floor (is free right now)
>Spacechem
>Divine Divinity
Etc.
>>
some of my favs:

>Fran Bow
enjoyed it alot for a point and click. only 6-8 hours long, but the puzzles are fun and its a good mix between spooky and "feelsy".
>This War of Mine
base-building and surviving with lots of moral dilemmas. good replayability too.
>LISA
pretty mature-themed RPG for fans of the surreal and people who don't mind shitty graphics and mediocre jrpg-gameplay
>pathologic
mindfuck and trading simulator, spooky af.
>underrail
great isometric rpg with alot of depth in story and builds. but very much on the difficult side of games.
>the metro games

I enjoyed the time I spent with the game but would hardly call it terraforming or farming. It's platforming and the loop becomes apparent very quickly. It's a vertical collectathon exploration platformer but with a visible end in sight and some alright freedom of movement.

Mordheim: City of the Damned $10

Gameplay is a cross between XCOM and Valkyria Chronicles. Hardcore mode only. I honestly think it improves upon XCom in a few ways. Equally brutal but also more forgiving in the form of permanent injury instead of instant death.
>>
>>381606116
I got the Witness when it was part of the Humbloe Monthly for $12. I'd say wait until holiday or it goes much cheaper because it's a great game but I feel like it's still not cheap enough. If you do want it, the Braid+Witness bundle is cheaper http://store.steampowered.com/bundle/2501/The_Witness__Braid/
>>
>>381606623
Not that anon. I think it's alright and it has lots of puzzles... the problem I have with it is that a lot of environmental puzzles are finicky and more about standing in the right place to line shit up than it is figuring out what to do. A lot of people liked that aspect of the game, but it turned me the fuck off. Also sometimes it can be difficult to control or see what you want to. Overall I think it's worth playing for maybe 10 bucks. It's a polished, decent puzzler with some annoying aspects.

It tries WAY too hard to be artsy

50% off on this game that I can only describe as Roguelike Deus Ex. Its quickly become my go-to game for relaxing and just doing dumb shit to pass time and causing general chaos or seeing how far I can get into the game without destroying anything or killing anybody, or just picking the Wrestler class and exclusively using map objects as weapons with the mutator that makes everybody hostile to me.

If you're willing to put the effort in you can just outright replace the character sprites. The threads about the game when it came out were almost as comfy as the game itself, and just about as gay.
>>
>>381607837
It had a few moments that were a bit too edgy for its own good, but those aside I really liked the tone.

I got this game ages ago, but never finished it. IIRC there was some bullshit with the way enemies scale in lategame that made the game tedious as fuck.

I enjoyed DOOM a lot as well. I wish they hadn't bothered with the cinematic one-button insta-takedowns though. That was the one element of the game that really kept bugging me and taking me out of it.

I get why people enjoyed it, but I just didn't.

I really disliked the monster-arena stuff and hated the implementation of cinematic kills - especially the chainsaw.
The upgrade system felt out of place and shoehorned in, but I didn't really mind the runes for whatever reason.

What really made me despise it was the soundtrack. I think Mick Gordon just really dropped the ball on it, but that's entirely down to taste.

Its definitely on the easy side depending on the class you pick or how much money you manage to get to keep buying ammo for your pistol, but I did not use the term Roguelike Deus Ex lightly, you can complete each floor as stealthily and non lethal as you wish, or as loud and full of mayhem and destruction as you have explosives on your person. The bulk of its replayability definitely comes from that and how differently each class can play from each other.

It looks better now that they added lighting to explosions. Though I'm still waiting for variable lighting levels in Freelance.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/226840/Age_of_Wonders_III/
Age of Wonders 3 is 75% off. Definitely the best fantasy 4X game in recent years IMO. The DLC is only 40% off unfortunately, but Eternal Lords is worth it. Golden Realms is nice but optional (unless you really want that Halfling race), and the Deluxe DLC is pointless unless you really want to give them more money.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/259060/Dominions_4_Thrones_of_Ascension/
If you're looking for something a bit less user-friendly and a lot more complex, Dominions 4 is 66% off right now. It's one of my favorite games of all times, but you probably need a little bit of autism to really get into it because the UI is pretty bad. On the upside, it has no DLC and still gets free updates fairly regularly.
>>
>>381609518
All maps are hand-made. I wish there was a random generator, though.
>>
>>381609214
>I really disliked the monster-arena stuff and hated the implementation of cinematic kills

This is literally my only gripe with the game. Unfortunately, it is a huge one and I had to stop 30 minutes into the game and drop it.

Taking control away from the player for a split secondo for glory kills after they're going really fast around the map while shooting is very jarring and just really terrible to experience.

And they can't turn them off because the entire balance of the game is centered around them since glory kills give health and ammo. NOT doing them is severely gimping yourself. Almost game-breaking. It's pure and uneeded faggotry.
>>
>>381609518

>>381609553
Seconding Dominions 4. The magic system and the combinations you can set up really make this a very strategically deep game. Its definitely not a game for normies though. It would be too hard to grasp the many many things you can do with its magic system.
>>
Is there anything that plays similarly to Sid Meier's Pirates or at least evokes the same themes?
>>
>>381609553
I wanted to like Age of Wonders 3 but it felt light on tactics heavy on grind.

It seemed to boil down to build up army, lose it to a big powerful monster then hit end turn for 20 turns to build up another army, repeat...
>>
>>381609214
>upgrade system
This is what utterly killed it for me. It would have been a great game if I could just kill shit with my chosen weapon, but the fact I had to do what felt like achievements just to not fall behind in the power curve just did not feel fun. I hate achievements.

>>
>>381610302
>I'm thinking Space Hulk, although I'm not entirely sold on the idea of space marine conga line.
Well, Space Hulk Ascension is more like XCOM/Xenonauts where you can have your squad of dudes develop over time and you can get attached to them and have to replace a super soldier with a scrub if you let him die. Definitely look up some gameplay of the normal Space Hulk first or pirate it since that is a 1:1 recreation of the board game in digital video game form, but if Terminator Conga Lines turns you off really bad, then there's not really anything that can be done.

If you're a glutton for punishment, grind, RNG dickery, and can easily immerse yourself in a greatly designed world with amazing artstyle, then Darkest Dungeon should be top priority for you.

Are you talking about the campaign, skirmishes, or multiplayer?

In multiplayer this is just plain not true, you'd get wrecked before the 20 turns were up if you were doing this poorly. In the campaign this is sometimes possible, but almost always a sign that you're doing something wrong.

You're most likely talking about AI skirmish maps though, where this is entirely possible. Especially on big maps where you might not meet an actual enemy for many turns early on. A large part of getting good at the game is knowing which fights to pick and which to avoid. It's entirely possible to win these maps, even on higher difficulties, without ever losing a single unit as long as you know what you're doing. It's kinda like HoMM where you can have a strong stack defending something you really want, so you just have to ignore it a while and come back for it when you're stronger. Against the AI you can actually turtle and grind up some strong armies to beat everything, but against any competent player this just gets you wiped off the map. Make sure you build some basic units to defend your cities from random indies (in most cases, a few basic archers behind a wall will be enough) and the actively go and explore your surroundings. Focus early research on scouting units and simple summons, with maybe a cheap direct-damage spell to help you in combat.

Once you hit the tier 2 units and hire a hero or two, you can start actively clearing out the dungeons and tougher resource buildings near you, as well as start expanding by either taking nearby indie cities or by building Settlers and creating your own cities, depending on the map.

With some classes, most notably the Warlord, you can also pretty effectively do a rush strategy on smaller maps, and wipe your enemy out before you even bother with all the dungeons and shit, but if you're playing singleplayer anyway it's probably more fun to take your time and explore the map for a while.
>>
void destroyer is definitely a hidden gem
>>
>>381604538
>created the game from the ground up for multiplayer
seems like the opposite to me, the multiplayer feels tacked-on but the singleplayer is excellent
I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the glory kill mechanic since it looked like it would just be the same handful of animations over and over, but it's neat being able to target different body parts to do different executions, and its context sensitive to walls and such too
>>
>>381610893

Bastard Bonds is around five burger-dollars. It's like Final Fantasy Tactics but with orc husbandos, pixellated dongs, and burly manly men. There's also big titted harpies and monstergirls too you can "bond" with and have them join your party. There's a very high party limit too, so you're encouraged to recruit as many people as you can. I think there's like 30 something "official" characters and some are hard to find or have certain requirements, then you can recruit any monster you find so long as you have the skills, as well as make your own characters who you can find in the game world as well.

The short version?

>broquest starts as a bunch of drawings of cliché RPG characters
>people on both /v/ and /tg/ like the drawings and make threads about them, fantasizing about what kind of game it would be and what party hey would use
>people start making expanded versions of the original roster, with artists adding new characters or redrawing old ones
>eventually someone decides that this shit need to become an actual video game
>fuck yeah, let's do this
>bunch of useless faggots get together and circlejerk over the game
>2% artists, 1% programmers, 97% idea guys
>lots of drama about everything
>characters being re-designed because someone doesn't like them (the fucking catgirl went through so many iterations)
>the game has to be exactly like an RPGMaker game, but we don't want to use RPGMaker because of reasons, so instead we'll tell out programmer to make a new engine that's exactly like RPGMaker
>drama, infighting and general incompetence abound because all the idea guys think their ideas are the best
>the project releases one bare-bones demo with zero content and then dies pathetically as the only people with actual talent quit
>every now and then the concept gets a small boost in popularity again, and inevitably someone gets the idea of making a real Broquest game before being shut down by bitter faggots like me going "remember what happened last time"

I'm not the guy you're replying to, but you're kind of right.

The game is enjoyable despite being simple. The main issue however is that it takes too long to complete compared to how basic the combat is. And with the scaling issues at higher levels that I also mentioned earlier in the thread that means that you probably get bored of the game by the time you get halfway through. If most of the filler levels were taken out and the game was half as long, it would've been a lot more fun IMO.

I think it got a balance patch at some point after release which may or may not have improved things, but I haven't played it in a long time so I couldn't tell you about that.

The game relies heavily on its subject matter to make up for some shortcomings. I'm sure you can enjoy it if you're not a fan of the music, or at least the old Sacrifice style gameplay, and the (somewhat) tongue in cheek approach it takes to it, but I think that without that appreciation it'll wear thin long before it's over.

I was a bit disappointed by oxenfree. some anons recommended it to me because I asked for games that used number station-style mystery/spookiness, and while it was a pretty good game the radio stuff was basically fluff

It's still a cute adventure game with the occasional spooky moment (which are all kind of ruined by the characters completely under reacting to what's happening to them) and a great conversation system. I'd recommended for 5 burgerbux

>>
>>381614108
Yeah, they patched in Radiant mode a while back, which is the game's version of easymode. I wouldn't call it casual because it's still pretty challenging unless you already know what you're doing, but it's easier and less grindy than the original game.

>>381610915
The game takes place on an abandoned cargo ship in the middle of the ocean. Your goal is to find a way to escape while avoiding the monster that is wandering around the ship looking for you. It's pretty much a game of cat and mouse at its core.

The replayability comes from the randomized elements. There are three different monsters that it chooses from each time you start a new game, and large portions of the ship's interior consist of randomly generated hallways. There's multiple possible ways of escaping, and no checkpoints or anything like that. Once you die you have to start a new game.

The music can be pretty terrifying, too.

I always thought of creeper world as a Tower defence. Good game.

GemCraft - Chasing Shadows was a flash game like Kingdom Rush. Lots of levels and replayability. Not the greatest visually but rather comfy and only $3

Dungeon of the endless is an RPG/roguelite/tower defence hybrid. Really cool visuals I got a good 12 hours out of it.

Blackguards 2 is a tactical isometric turnbased RPG with a great and engaging Story. It's challenging, difficult and absolutely great! The best thing: The Story is set in Aventuria, the world of Europes biggest CRPG.

Only 2,99€ or together with the first game for under 5€.

Oh, I hard forgotten about this series, thanks anon!

>>
>>381614895
I would say no, though Crimson Court does add a fair bit of content and - after they've properly balanced it - is worth ten bux. Mainly I'm not sure how many of the balance changes and graphics tweaks made with Crimson Court were patched into the base game.
>>
>>381615072
I thought the second game is much better suited for new players that don't know much about TDE and Aventuria. The first game is even more niche than the second and therefore a bad introduction to the genre and the story.

Allow me to shill this game that nobody on /v/ ever heard of:

http://store.steampowered.com/app/296970/Renowned_Explorers_International_Society/

It's a turn-based tactics game that looks simple but has a lot of charm, depth and replayability. A single game doesn't last long and you can easily finish the game multiple times per day once you know what you're doing, but the charm of the game is that you can keep playing it by using different characters, choosing different locations, and keep discovering new bits of story and stuff.

Combat involves a system of moods, where you can put your enemies (and allies) in a mood that gives them bonuses or penalties. You can win fights by scaring all enemies off, or by charming them. Or you can just beat them up the old-fashioned way.
>>
>>381615072
the first game is good too. It's a bit more free on the character since you create your own protag and the combat is still stellar. Some people prefer prewritten protagonists though like in 2

I want to shill the fuck out of this game because I impulse bought it full price and loved it but I know it's a bit too pricey to be a good entry for a "hidden gem" thread.

I get 30 burgercoins is probably too high for most people to want to spend on an indie title but this is a very good game. if nothing else, put it on your watch list and wait for it to go lower.

It's probably better to start without the Crimson Court. The new content is a bit harder than the old stuff, and if you get the DLC you start getting Crimson Court-related events right from the start which might be frustrating.

>characters completely under reacting
I didn't really feel that at all, I mean to me the spoops were so weak anyway that I thought they reacted appropriately. I definitely did find the radio stuff as fluff though especially the ending I got where everything resolved itself, I survived and the game even said that no one talked about the spoops again, everything I'd done felt so pointless. Still found it worthwhile for the conversations and group dynamics and sunk 4 hours into it, debating on whether to do a "bad" playthrough which would add another ~3 hours.

>>
>>381615434
Is there anything specific you're having trouble with? What team are you using?

It's not a shame to lose. Trial and error are very much a part of the game. Since campaigns are short, it's no big deal to fail your first few attempts until you find a team that works for you. Some characters and combinations are definitely harder to use well than others. Also, some events (like the giga-gorilla one) are almost guaranteed to give you a game over if you go into them unprepared, so it's best to just avoid them unless you know what you're doing.

Picture related, it's the team I used to beat the game for the first time.

The wrestling chick was great for taking aggro and also did surprisingly good dmg.

The chick in the middle was a total bitch and would just utterly demoralise the enemies to the point of running away.

The little chick with the knife was like a rogue, iirc she had like a double attack ability so she had great potential for bursting down enemies with physical dmg.

>>381617327
Fuck no. Nobody should be subjected to this piece of shit.

The game is slow, unintuitive and clunky as fuck with a bad UI that for some reason has a little delay every fucking time you click anything at all. It has a shitty learning curve where it tells you absolutely nothing you need to know, like you make your character (using the awful UI) without knowing what any of the options do, and have to choose what classes to follow but you have zero clue of what classes are actually useful, and as a result the entire game is half trial and error and half RNG bullshit. It has like 100+ different skills to train (that's not even a fucking exaggeration!), so almost every random event will inevitable require some skill you never bothered to train and you'll fail event after event. But somehow that's fine, because nothing means anything and even if you fail at everything and your grades are garbage, you never get any consequences unless you hit an actual game over event. And worst of all, even though it's been out for over 7 years they've still only released the first year of the game. At the end of the first year the game just stops, forget about actually finishing wizard school because there's only year one to play and nothing really interesting happens in year one.

The only good thing about the game is that it has TONS AND TONS of lore and shit, but even that's not a real positive because it tends to contradict itself a lot and the cool bits don't feel very cool when there's little context or consequence to what the fuck ever you're actually doing.

Pic related is Obey. Haven't seen anything like it. It's a single-person semi RTS where the commander has to corral his units (all of which are either bots or other players) who only have their best interests in mind: read, backstabbing you and taking the 10k points lead. The commander gets a gun and a whole bunch of tools to blow your head off. You get nothing but stealth and deception.

So you can have access to the far-superior version of the game. When it went F2P, 2k butchered it for the SECOND time; there was only one mode and four shittily re-done maps that forced flee-til-3.

The OG game that you paid for was MUCH better, but could do with a rollback-merge with the stage 2 content and be F2P instead of what they did.

For me, the biggest ones were the annoying mapping mechanics and the long amounts of backtracking. It's not even so much a difficulty thing, because other metroidvanias have made death a serious setback without making you drag your ass all the way back through the shit you can handle to get to the things actually giving you trouble. It's just not very well paced for backtracking or having to attempt something multiple times.

Everything else was just about perfect. But the longer I played the more annoyed I was by how much time was spent on travelling.

I'm telling them to pay for the version that isn't a complete garbage butchering of the gameplay.

You thought the "running simulator" was bad? They made it worse. At least when the game was paid for, there was actual depth and strategy involved to learn. Now it's just whoever shoots the other dude and mashes buttons more.

The F2P version flopped because they ripped out ALL OF THE CONTENT, then never had a clear focus on what to prioritize first.

That's a fair point. That hasn't been bothering me much at all though because I really love traveling through the game. It's like why Resident EVil 1 remake is my favorite in the series because of similar reasons.

A personal issue I have with the game is that the key movement options of a metroid-like game are locked away for hours into the game. I would much prefer it if you could wall jump right away at least. Super Metroid is the pinnacle of this kind of genre and Hollow Knights seems far more linear because of it.

>But it flopped even when it did have that content, so what's even the point?
People were screaming primarily over SKINS.

There's no point. I was just hoping that we could nudge fate's hand a bit and get the damned game a better fate than it got.

Almost everybody was excited for this thing, and it legitimately hurts to see the game end up the way it is. The more they moved away from the hunting aspect, the more they detracted away from the game's original concept of Metamorphasis, the less the game lost it's golden shine.

You're really only buying it to show them there's still appeal for this kind of game. They didn't care if evolve failed; It hurt them little. They wanted it to fail. Something. I don't know.

I'm just forever made out of vinegar at how the game had such a horrible outcome. My inner child was so excited to see and play this game.

He's dead now.

TL;DR: you're buying it on the baseless hopes that it might rebound and become a game worthy of all of it's awards. I haven't given up on the game. I still stare at the torn poster on my wall in upset dismay, hoping vainly to escape from this "stages of greif" loop. But I can't leave Evolve behind. I loved the game.

Do the fucking Steam Discovery Queve or idle some Steam games you own

How do I get Steam Summer Sale trading cards?
Steam Summer Sale trading cards are only available during the Steam Summer Sale. There are five ways to get the cards:

Craft a game badge
Starting last week, crafting a game badge earned you a Steam Summer Sale trading card, so if you crafted a badge in the last week you’re already on your way. During the sale, each game badge you craft will get you an additional Steam Summer Sale trading card.

Make a purchase
As an extra reward for purchasing, every $10 USD spent during the sale will net a Steam Summer Sale trading card. From your Steam Summer Sale badge page select “How do I get more cards?” to track your purchasing progress.

Explore Your Discovery Queue
If you’re Steam Level 5 and above, you’ll get a Steam Summer Sale trading card once you view all the items in your daily Steam Discovery Queue. You can continue and go through your Discovery Queue two more times each day to get a maximum of three card drops each day. (If you reach Steam Level 5 before the end of the sale, you’ll be granted the cards you earned by exploring your Steam Discovery Queue during the sale).

Seconded. For not having any real "dialogue", the game is surprisingly engaging and makes for an enjoyable (if surreal) game.

Desktop Dungeons — coffee break roguelike with puzzle elements and huge replayability.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/226620

http://store.steampowered.com/app/259680

http://store.steampowered.com/app/365360

The Talos Principle — first person puzzle made by Serious Sam devs. Smart and interesting challenge, with profound story and beautiful world.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/257510

Antichamber — first-person puzzle that doesn't play like Portal 2 at all. It's a mind-bending game, that makes you throw away preconceptions and prior experience playing video games and think differently.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/219890

Lovely Planet — Super Meat Boy from first person perspective with colorful world and VERY challenging levels. A speed run game.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/298600

Personal niche recommendations (2/4)

Infested Planet — take control of a squad responsible of purging huge amount of xenos in a top-down realtime strategy. Has this Aliens / WH40k vibe.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/204530

Jets'n'Guns — absolutely fantastic and rad SHMUP with ridiculous number of levels, enemies, jets and guns. Gorgeous soundtrack by cult power-metal group Machinae Supremacy.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/262260

Shadowgate — very well done remake of an old Macintosh adventure. Just the game to spend dull winter evenings in almost pen-n-paper atmosphere. Good experience for those who love the genre.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/294440

Silent Storm — RPG set in WWII / post-WWII world with ridiculously smart turn based system and destructibility. Rare game to have Axis story arc in it.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/254960

Pix The Cat — a VERY good variation on the classic ‘snake’ formula. Huge replayability, addictive soundtrack, and co-op designed for parties.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/330180/

Duck Game — imagine Smash bros. with ducks, huge variety of different weapons, destructible environment, and a dedicated QUACK button. Must have for parties.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/312530

Hammerwatch — probably the best Gauntlet inspired game that has ever came out.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/239070

Devil Daggers — addictive arena shooter with unique atmosphere and audio/visual design (if you’re into it). Geometry Wars from first person. Go and beat 500.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/422970/

Bunker Punks — high speed, no bullshit old-school FPS with graphics straight from the last century. If you liked the new Doom, you might like this one too.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/446120/

Mini Metro — stylish strategy sim about making a subway map for evergrowing city. Minimalistic yet fantastic art style.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/400450/

Hexcells — neat little variation on minesweeper. Relaxing music and enough levels to keep you busy for a few evenings.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/265890

RUNNING WITH RIFLES — unusually deep tactical shooter, despite it having a top-down view and being pretty light hearted about itself and war in general.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/270150

Reflex — spiritual successor to Quake III. Community is small and very hardcore. Unless you’re very good with arena shooters, — beware.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/328070/

The Swapper — visually stunning puzzle with ridiculously good atmosphere and plot that will probably leave you full of existential thoughts.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/231160/

Book of Demons — Diablo on rails with fantastic aesthetics and addictive gameplay. Not a dungeon crawler in the conventional sense, but rather closer to cookie-clicker where your clicks actually matter.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/449960

Zombie Night Terror — reimagining of an old The Lemmings game, this time with zombies, who are as mindless and braindead as suicidal characters from the 90th classic. Stylish and humorous.

Thumper — challenging rhythm game with distinctive soundtrack and gorgeous visuals. Difficulty raises gradually, so even if you're a newcomer to the genre don't be afraid to get overwhelmed right from the start
http://store.steampowered.com/app/356400/

Eschalon: Book II — CRPG that doesn't excel at anything in particular, but rather tries to let player enjoy classic, nostalgia-induced experience, while being adequate and enjoyable game on its own.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/25620/

Eon Altar — absorbing pen and paper adventure for up to 4 players that doesn't require party to have a dedicated and clever dungeon master.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/382050/

Morphblade — Turn based survival puzzle where you have to fight against onslaught of ever increasing number of "enemies" while maintaining your board and thinking several steps ahead of you.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/494720/

Magi — graphically dated real time strategy where you have to manage not an army but inner powers of a mage of your choice.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/364740/

Versus Squad — enjoyable top-down horde mode game from the people who made Nation Red. Tons of weapons and perks, as well as continuous support by the devs, well worth the price.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/471330/

Forced Showdown — roguelite twinstick action game with CCG elements. Pick a character, build a deck, go on a rampage, repeat. Campy yet charming design.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/265000/

Northgard — enthralling combination of Settlers and classic Warcraft. Dominate uncharted lands with one of a handful of Viking clans, each with their own quirks and specialities. Very active online community.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/466560/

Duskers — Neatly realized survival horror from perspective of an operator of remotely controlled drones. Enjoyable for a couple or dozen hours if a bit shallow
