It was decent. Started off with an interesting premise, got too convoluted for it's own good and ended weak. The music was great, the americana setting was pretty good, most dialogue was well voice acted. The story was average with some plot holes here and there, anyone nostalgic for a high school setting or anyone who overall likes lighthearted coming of age movies would and probably did like it.

I like the plot and the setting, ending was fine. Overall it would be pretty good if it wasn't for fucking Chloe Price. Fucking ruined the game. Never in my life have I hated more a video game character. Fucking spoiled brat, half the shit that went wrong in the plot was her fault, like how she just steals her stepfather's gun just to play with it in a junkyard or decides to borrow money from a fucking drug dealer for fuck's sake. Then she has the fucking audacity to blame Max for not shooting Frank dead fucking father for her shitty life, all of which is obviously her own fault.

Had she swapped places with Kate or Victoria the game would be WAY better.

Also: choices don't influentiate the ending, characters talk like 40 years old trying to fit in with the kids, classic Dialogue Wheel Issues, etc.

Finally, the game blames you for stuff that is out of your control. Like in the scene where Max pulls a gun on Frank you gotta decide to shoot or not, but if you shoot the gun is jammed or out of bullets or something.
No way in fucking hell am I gonna put my ass on the line considering Chloe already owns him a bunch of money, and after trying and rewinding I decided not to shoot. I lost count of how many times Chloe complained OH YOU SHOULD'VE SHOT HIM OH I WISH I HAD A GUN when I literally couldn't. OH I WISH WE HAD STOLE THE CHARITY MONEY dud, fuck off.

Alternatively, regarding the one thing that WAS my fault, which was not being able to save Kate, people kept saying all the time "oh there was nothing you could do, this is no one's fault,", etc.

Had she shown any sign of growing the fuck up I would understand, but there is nothing until the last choice and you're suddenly supposed to feel bad. One of the last puzzles of the game is literally just Max trying to get her to listen for five seconds before she does some dumb shit again. Even Victoria, with her limited apparitions and numbered conversations has more development and comes out as a more interesting character.
