Mario Kart 8 is so fucking disappointing, by this point in this series these games should be loaded with content and ideas. I don't believe it took DLC just to finally have more courses than normal in a Mario Kart game, how the roster doesn't have everyone or at least most characters from previous games, how more ideas for items (that don't turn the gameplay into Mario Kart Wii-tier rape) aren't there and how it took a Deluxe version to finally fix a mode that shouldn't have been utterly fucked to begin with. I prefer mkw's tracks because they are less restrictet which allows some cool shortcuts.
I don't see how bikes being good is a bad thing. They are way more fun to play with than karts, and it's not like the difference is really that significant unless you're playing on a high level.

The reason why I prefer MK Wii over 8 is mostly that it has a lot of shortcuts that are hard to do but there is a lot of reward. I have not really seen any worthwhile shortcuts in MK8 that arent super obvious and easy to execute or require a mushroom. In MK:Wii there were tons of crazy shortcuts that would set you apart from casuals and you wouldnt even need mushrooms for most of them.
