2D Metroid should just return to the Super Metroid formula, while giving you some kind of new abilities

3D FP Metroid should have faster, more agile gameplay closer in line to the 2D games, and more lifelike worlds, plus some new abilities. Also a slightly more non-linear structure in that maybe you can choose which order you can take certain areas in. That is literally all it really needs. Games like Overwatch show you can have a game be in the first-person and still give you some crazy abilities. Take inspiration from shit like that.

Turn it into a survival horror game, only when Samus gets caught by a monster instead of dying it tickle tortures her

Hear me out here- the best way to save Samus is to give her the Doomguy treatment. She was always a silent character with meaningful body language, but still too much of a blank slate. In Nu-DOOM you know exactly what kind of motherfucker he is within two minutes of gameplay, and his actions always back up and support his character, simple as it is. Metroid Prime has the right idea of portraying her as a sort of badass academic like Indiana Jones, someone who goes around exploring ruins and solving riddles and discovering ancient artifacts but also fucking up space pirates and spooky alien bad guys because she can. Samus came from an era of no-nonsense action heroes and should return to her roots. If she ever says anything it should be short, sweet, and meaningful. Not a ten minute monologue about how much she worships a self-insert OC.

As for saving the series as a whole literally just make a game faithful to the series formula- exploration and getting lost, environmental puzzle solving, spooky and somber atmosphere, and big ass boss battles. And then market the game proplerly. For maximum game sales, tack on a hero shooter multiplayer with all the hunters and some of the smaller bosses, because normies eat that shit up and will guarantee sales forever.
