I played a troll fire mage in vanilla/tbc. Leveling was absolute nightmare, you literally had to sit down and drink for 20 seconds after you killed a couple of mobs. I also had to beg in front of the AH because having 100 gold was a small fortune on my realm. You had to walk until lvl 40 before you could get your first mount. But it costed gold. So did spells. So you had to either walk your way to lvl 50 and have viable spells/damage, or choose to save up for a mount, but suffer even more on your drinking/mob killing speed. Also, there was no LFG so you had to spend an hour in /2 just to collect 4 other people, and if you were lucky enough some of them had a flight path to the stone so you could summon the rest.
I tried raiding a little (i had a life back then) and couldn't even get near it. You had to collect elemental resistant gear, lots of potions and shit just to be able to TRY a raid. Fuck fire dragons and that fire resistant Onyxia cloak.

I remember doing that exact trek at level 5 with a level 60 Night Elf Druid showing me the way, just because I wanted to see what Darnassus looked like. Felt like it took hours, but couldn't have taken more than one.
In the middle of the wetlands we got ganked by two horde, I remember the druid grumbling something about how he had no chance against shamans. In the end we reached Darnassus and he went back to whatever he was doing and I spent the afternoon exploring the town and training fishing.
I'd got to what, ten, eleven years old? Doesn't even feel like that long ago.

Oh dude i loved that, i remember when a friend and I met that Nelf druid in STV, we ruined his fucking day.
Way later we found him in Tanaris and ruined his day too, then in Un'Goro.
We moved to winterspring and forgot about him.

Way later in TBC, first zone, the exact same druid who managed to farm and get to end content way sooner than us just scouts the first area of BC, spots my friend and I and fucking destroys us. I swear for 4 fucking days, when we tried to level in BC he would just find us and anihilate us.

That was too much fun laughing our asses cause the poor druid we perma ganked had his long deserved revenge.

Started playing on the tbc prepatch I wanted to play a gnome mage but ended up leveling a human rogue. doing quests in stv I stumbled upon the arena in stv and saw people camped out around the edges watching several people fight in the arena, I knew there were duels in game but saw several people fighting at once all the same faction, it never dawned on me till I walked into the arena its free for all. after learning from my mistake of just walking in and dying to everyone turning to me I stealthed around picking off people who were low or squishy. eventually it lead to some guy getting so mad he kept challenging me to a duel.
First duel I won because lol cheapshot kidney no trinket.
he said no stuns.
thought nothing of it said ok and did the duel again, garrote and ruptured him and ran away. I didn't know at the time I could have bleed kited him without getting intercepted and wouldn't learn till much later in season 2.
winning again he said once more with no stealth and no stuns.
half my abilities thrown out the window I said okay but last one because I want to continue leveling.
Immediately he opens with charge and I some how manage to vanish it into a garrote. I never considered it stealth because I didn't stay stealthed I opened right away. doing normal thing and running around like retard I won, after a lot of bitching from him and on lookers saying rogues are op and that I cheated I just brushed it off and moved on.


ever since then every season I look him up, find him, find his rating and when he plays and make sure to beat him a few times. I denied him gladiator in season 2, 3, 4, 6, and 8. he rarely goes above 2k rating anymore.

One of my favorite things to do in late vanilla with my tank warrior was to fuck around in 5-man instances with 3 people. Partied up with a shaman friend who was in a PvP guild and a priest guild mate of his. We fucked around in lbrs, killed the emperor in BRD and then I took them into my guild's cleared out BWL because they had never seen it. Also used to run BRD 4 in the morning with two friends who played a shaman and a mage because the shaman wanted the trinket.

It was a chore but it was so fun, it actually created situations and interractions between players when you had to travel through enemy territory to get to your goal. I took something of everything. Background or cool gearsets I'd put together for RP, RP sessions, cool places I discovered when exploring the world (back then the world felt fucking massive when only ground mounts and flightpaths existed). Fun chats with friends and times we fucked about around the world (like when we camped at night outside Crossroads once in vanilla (we were alliance) and suddenly this female tauren warrior, HIGH FUCKING WARLORD WITH SULFURAS made a beeline towards us and we all collectively shit our pants... only for her to sit down by the fire and emote-RP with us.
Also that one time I eRPed with the resident queen bitch of the server. She always acted like a memelord and hardcore cunt, never could get her to behave seriously or non-aggressively. I had been chipping away at her for a while until one time late at night she was excessively horny and she turned out to be incredibly submissive. People found us out and because I had shared some screens with a guy who later backstabbed me, he posted them on the forum and outed us both. She took a while to live it back up, people were talking behind her back for ages.

My mom bought me the game early on because she heard about it on NPR of all places. I made a Tauren warrior since back then warrior types were the only things I played in rpgs.

I think it wasn't until I reached 60 and got into a real guild that I respecced into Protection. Me and another warrior on the same sever were friends and would often end up in the same groups, he usually acting as DPS since he was a Fury spec. Back then no one really gave a shit and we just made do with what we had.
I never got to do any of the high level raid content but I had enough fun doing the regular dungeons and just exploring.

Maraudon was my favorite dungeon. Place was so comfy with the waterfalls and general underground grotto design.

i think i finally got wow a month before BC released. My best memories of WoW were probably finding groups and doing dungeons. Sometimes groups would be shit, but sometimes they weren't. I even remember meeting someone from my school(same age as me) in a random dungeon group.

I never ended getting to max level and dropped the game around lvl 45. I was to broke to afford a mount and all those older kids who convinced me to buy WoW were always busy doing end game stuff to help me level up and shit. Plus I was still known as that faggot ass anime kid

Let me tell you about leveling a warrior in Everquest. You could kill 1 enemy of equal level to you and you were close to dead. Then you would have to backout to a safe spot where you could sit your ass down for 3 fucking minutes while you meditate. The whole ordeal of picking out an enemy, killing it, walking back to a safe spot, and meditating took 5 minutes. And you needed to kill 100 of these fuckers to level. That's 8 hours of this shit. And there's a chance that you'll get ganged up on by wandering enemies. And no matter how far you ran they never lost aggro. You had to leave the zone and hit a loading screen. And if they kill you then you lost experience equivalent to 1 hour's work.

I'm not that guy but I didn't really enjoy it very much when it was current content. Hellfire was alright, aside from being ganked constantly by 70s (all my friends hated the zone for some reason). Zangarmarsh was a mess and a fucking swamp. Terrokar was alright, it was unique and had some good rewards with the odd pvp. Nagrand was one of those places you loved to hate because if you seriously wanted to level then forget about it. If you wanted to pvp on the other hand it was paradise. Never ending conflict. Blade's Edge was boring, Netherstorm was alright but I was getting tired of the Belf/ethereals by that point. Shadowmoon was rep farming and pvp on my server. The faction rivalry was real and 70s would fight in small groups all over the place out of pure animosity. Sadly as the expansion wore on it and the world pvp just kinda fizzled out thanks to flying mounts. By WLK it was almost completely wiped out.

Off all the videogames I've played, I will never regret spending so many hours in World of Warcraft. The game during its prime (Vanilla + TBC + Wotlk) was absolutely amazing. One in a lifetime experience. And I think I left the game at the best moment - mid Cata.

I did the run. I was playing wow on an old dell optiplex shitter I got for free from the library when they were throwing it out. I got about 10 fps out of it with everything as low as it could possibly go. View distance was about 10 feet in front of character.

Still remember in wrath when I was the raidleader in our small raiding guild. One of our healer had a wife and little kid and would constantly force us to stop for atleast 15 minutes because the wife either bitched at him to make a sandwich or his shitty kids not being able to sleep. I was alright with that, I was cool with waiting. But his fucking attitude seriously pissed me off. Not even a "sorry guys that I kept you waiting" or anything. When I first started played in early 2005, I stacked gear with Spirit on my Warrior (regardless of armour type) because I thought it would give me high HP regeneration and make me harder to kill.

On my first priest, I kept dying because I was sure Fade made you invisible to mobs (the fact it took me weeks to find out I was wrong makes me question my mental capacity).

A few weeks after it was released (in 1.3, I think?), we were stuck in Maraudon for 8+ hours; we lost two party members early on and, since it was so hard to find a group, we decided to 3-man it. It was the first dungeon I had ever completed without a full party. Almost 11 years later, I still dread stepping into that place.
