The Overwatch takes no skill echo chamber has taken such a massive hold of the entire playing audience that everyone believes they can actually climb to the top 500 by themselves.

No one is ever happy with the rank they have, no one ever respects either the rank above or the rank below, if your silver you shit on bronze if your gold you shit on silver and the cycle continues.

Pro plays built around 6 people heavily communicating at all times sets the meta standard that everyone else instantly copies, there is no leg room for experimentation because the games are so short and one lost team fight can cost a win.

Blizzard keep on insisting on attempt to make every single last hero viable in every situation not realising that having a batch of only situational heroes is a benefit. This system is fucked because swapping off mid-game while either carrying an ult or most of the way towards one is a massive waste of resources. Those balancing changes end up causing massive problems in every other mode apart from Ranked.

Competitive Overwatch is a fucking mess and I have no idea why its become the default mode. That Total Chaos brawl thing thats running right now is a complete mess but at least it reflects the game better than Ranked.

None of the Heros I like to play are viable so ranked has no value to me. I'm really good with Junkrat and can get solo team kills fairly consistently if the other team is trying to deathball but he generates so much rage from my own teammates that my skill is negated by my team throwing. I'll give you an example then. Old Temple of Anubis point B was near impossible because the other team spawned faster than you. If you snuck a teleporter close to the point, your team spawns closer to the point then the other team. If I got the tele set up, it was a guaranteed win. This works on other maps but can be situational. Tele is an amazing tool to get the team past the choke onto the point, but it requires a decent push to get through.

Torbj attack is situational. Torbj counters flank characters (Genji, Tracer, Sombra, sometimes Reaper) but can't stand against Pharah. Torb limits where they can move to, making it predictable what they will do or where they will go (either avoid the turret, or approach and destroy it and take some damage). Torb attack on Payload is unstoppable under the right situation. Plus his gun is one of the best in the game if you can aim it.

If nothing is working and you are getting countered by Pharah, switch off. I played like this and almost got to GMs solo q.

I think everyone is missing the point of a carry hero in overwatch. There is no single character in the game that will solo the entire enemy team. A "carry" hero is one that will have such a massive impact. Yes GOOD genjis are tracers are obscene to be up against but you are talking literally top 1%. My issue with overwatch is that there are so many slots you have to fill with nearly essential characters that there's very little space for diversity. I'm starting to understand why they're making characters with bloated kits; they're trying to make characters who can tackle any situation since there's no space for situational shit.

Think about it. You only have two damage dealer slots. What's the safest pick? A jack of all trades like soldier that's useful 100% of the time (especially with phara) or area denials like junk and symmetra who might end up being useless in 50% of the situations?

Wanna know how to climb for next season? Get gud at one hero from each category (DPS/Tank/Support) and pick whichever your team needs most.

S76 is the easiest and best DPS class hero who can be played every single game no matter what. Genji while much harder than S76 is second best and the only other one who can be played every game regardless of what the enemy team brings. Roadhog is by a wide, wide margin the best DPS in the game and probably the best "main" if you just wanna climb ranks without actually being good at the game. Zarya/D.Va would also be good tanks to learn. Ana/Lucio are the way to go for support. Mercy can be good if you're not a retard but even in GM games Mercy players are retards with zero game sense

No, Pharah is not an every game hero and Pharmercy is not the way to climb. Pharah needs her team to create space for her to do anything and even a semi intelligent D.Va can shut her offensive presence down almost completely.

Overwatch is too asymmetrical by design to be considered a valid competitive game. The reason the format exists is as a marketing tool. SR is part of the skinner box that keeps people playing, and all Blizzard has to do is shill for it as an e-sport by throwing money at any six yuropoors or chinks capable of using a mouse correctly. The skill ceiling is through the floor. I find that gold and below is pretty bad (I was gold for a long time) plat has a mix of good and bad, diamond is mostly pretty good, masters and up are very good. There are clearly boosted people at every rank though, when you see someone was low gold last season and is now masters and only plays mercy it really makes you think.

Matchmaking was messed up in season 2 so when I was in diamond I would get paired with top 500's sometimes. There was a top 500 on my team yelling at our team and telling us what to do even though his plans were stupid. He got mad called us shit then during the next round when he said "i'll just carry you all" he ran right into a torb turret as tracer and died. Someone right after on my team replied "was that a top 500 play" and he went fucking insane

A nice rule to apply to OW is that anyone can carry a match two ranks below them, no matter what they play.

A Diamond support main can carry a gold match as McCree, a Grandmaster dps player can carry a diamond match as Ana. If you aren't making significant impacts on every game you play, you aren't actually all that far below your true rank.

Ana really can't carry. A good Ana can tip a close game in her teams favor and a bad Ana can cost her team even a very easy game but if your DPS players aren't killing anything then Ana isn't the hero to change that.
