The sliding isn't just a gimmick, it's a core mechanic and together with some other mechancis allows for some very aggressive fast paced gameplay. You can play it as a generic cover shooter too though, no idea why you would want to but the option is there.

Well that's why I have a PS3. But yes, it sucks. 720p Persona 5 is usually fine but at certain angles faces look like an unrecognizable mass of pixels.

I like the game a lot so far, but I actually enjoyed the second boss fight where you fought that unidentified bogey more than fighting regular mooks. It's a lot more exciting facing one human sized guy as overpowered as you are because you can actually purposefully dodge bullets and missiles and have to use your AR sparingly. I kind of wish Vanquish was more of a boss rush where you just keep going one on one with other guys who have your suits and powers, but it's still fun the way it is.

For a shooter, it sure is stingy on the ammo for everything except the boring ass Assault Rifle, most of the other weapons don't even seem to be worth using because they're so weak on top of only having 10 to 20 shots.
Sure, they're basically set up as limited sub-weapons for use in each area, but why even bother with them when the AR, Shotgun and Heavy MG take shit out just as if not more efficiently?

Just finished Act 2, and the game's easy as fuck on Hard (and God Hard, the console command to unlock it right away still works, only appears to make the game more lame as it cripples the Augmented Reaction and throws more bullet sponge enemies at you, so I went back to Hard), they could have at least made it less boring and let me fuck around with the weapons with more impunity. Unlike Bayo or DMC where I could fuck around with the variety of weapons and play over and over, Vanquish seems like it's going to be a single playthrough game.
