That's certainly true, but MGSV has so much more gameplay than MGS4 it's not even close. MGS4 has similar segments as well (microwave hallway etc) and while they're more broken up than MGSV's prologue, I'm sure when they're all added up they're of a similar length.

MGS4 only has like two hours of the core stealth gameplay, the rest is all setpieces.

It doesn't take a genius to watch the video. The Metroid franchise had always been a contradictory shout-out to the Alien franchise. Remember back when Samus liked to do things alone like she said in Fusion & only had about one other group mission with Adam? Prime 3 apparently doesn't consider the Pirate Homeworld or any other to be the case. Then again, Fusion was the Other M before Other M came out. We all complained about it until Nintendo gave the much better Zero Mission without all the shitty story.

In fact, I'd like to remind you about Fusion. Fuck that game. Was I the only one who thought Other M was a failure from the beginning for trying to be Fusion 2.0? I remember being shocked that everyone was anticipating anything related to what was the black sheep. They tried to shove a story so much that they railroaded you so much. The franchise who made the revolutionary move to make you go left for the Morph Ball & make you explore all the sudden decided that navigational rooms telling you where to go was a good idea.

It's hard to get much worse than Fusion. As mentioned, Samus' characterization in Fusion was even worse. Even in Other M, some of Samus' independent actions weren't immediately criticized. In Fusion, it was "Samus, you aren't following the DM's planned story" so many times.

She was also an idiot. Near the end of the game, Samus was told about how the Feds wanted to weaponize the X. She thought of blowing herself up with the station. First off, as Adam mentioned, she'd be sacrificing herself. She, knowing so many of the Feds' secrets, decides she wants to die with everyone. Even if she didn't have an amazing skillset, that's letting the Feds get away clean. In Alien 3, Ripley was going to die no matter what & thus her choice was explainable. Samus? Had Adam not stopped her, Samus would have been posthumously promoted Weyland Yutani employee of the month for dying with those secrets. Next, she's spent the entire game in this space station whose controls she'd been clicking quite often. She didn't consider any alternatives? Shut down the power to landing areas so Feds can't land easily for one. Anything to hinder the Feds. Lastly, the funny thing is that she shouldn't even need to be told that her method would fail. The Main Boiler? The X decided that blowing that up to kill Samus & save the planet would be a good choice. Destroying the space station alone wouldn't do anything major to the planet & Adam told her that was their plan. So Fusion Samus & her jellyfish-birdbrain decided to do exactly as the X has attempted. Blow up the station with Samus in it. I'm two minutes away from thinking Samus wants to resurrect Ridley & rebuild the Space Pirates.
