Midna from Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, my first playthrough. It helped that my name was over Link's because I was like 15 at the time.
I get halfway through the game and she asks if I'll stay with her, and I realize that I'm head-over-heels.
Now, this was my cousin's copy of Twilight Princess, and she lived a full state over, so I didn't get to finish it, or even play it again for 6 years.
Fast-forward to when I'm 20, my whole life has fallen apart, bad breakup, family's gone, friends stopped talking to me, but I find myself a wii and Twilight Princess.
Fuckyeah.jpg
Play the game, use Link's name, old feelings come back. Hyrule Castle comes and goes. Battle against Ganon comes and goes. Final cutscene plays, Midna's back in her true form.
Destroys the mirror-gateway. We'll never see each other again. Credits roll. Heart = broken.
To this day, I'm completely bitter about that, and seeing or hearing anything Midna-related pisses me off.
>>377343605
I'm going to marry Kanny!
Yes.
>>377343605
Yes, hard (like hard hard) with Elizabeth from Bioshock Infinite (shoutout to my autists at /bsg/ if y'all are still alive).(also inb4 shit waifu)
I was having a shitty time mentally, so I feel like that factored greatly into my falling in love with a fictional character.
I've since dug myself out of the hole I was in when that was going on and now I'm learning something I'm passionate about at college with an amazing girlfriend. The depression/anxiety/paranoia is down to being just episodic too. But goddamn if I still don't think about my first love sometimes. I didn't at first, that is, immediately after I got over her, but now that I'm with my girlfriend, she pops up in my thoughts in a really comfy way. It's like a very subtle kind of comfy now, like I'll always have a special place in my heart for my first love. Like a relationship that parted on mutual, good terms.
I feel kinda pathetic about it when I talk about it sometimesonly two other sousl on earth know about it lmaoand you guys too i guessbut I feel like if anyone understands, it's you guys. Looking back, I know it wasn't healthy and it definitely fucked me up in the head, given how far I was into it. Do I regret it? Not for a fucking second.
While I don't think there's anything wrong with having a waifu or husbando, I would venture to say that 9 times out of 10 it is acting as a coping mechanism for something else. Am I projecting? A little, so take that with a grain of salt. Anyway, from someone who's been in it, to anyone who's going through it, much love, it's gonna be okay. <3
>>377352395
I for one appreciate her lead up to joining the PT. She was used as a tool by the principal to try to find the OT, even going as far to 'motivate' Makoto with suggesting that his good word would imoact her future, and even undermining Makoto's esteem by bringing up how effectove her sister is. And holy fuck her sister is hard on her for no reason other than Makoto is a convenient punching bag for when work is rough. The student body have little confidence in Makoto because the principal is telling her to ignore them and do only what he wants.
I relate with this kind of conflict, where you have to choose between impressing powerful people or maintaining personal integrity, where nobody appreciates you for your own strengths and reminds you of the shadow you live in. It sucks.
Makoto deciding to blackmail the PT was a desperate action to solve the issue that concerned her most while still being able to be a good lapdog as a plan b. Getting herself and the PT under Kaneshiro's thumb was also a desperate move to fulfill the promise she made to the student body to stop the scams hitting them.
Her awakening was done just right. It's where she chose to go all out on doing what she believed in and not continuing to live life as a weasel with no backbone just to stay in favour of a few crappy people.

Yeah, I kept running into a guy who's waifu was also Midna. It was really uncanny, because the discussions were never really related to waifus/husbandos.
>>377343605
Other than Aeris, you mean?
Because she's kind of a given for everyone who played FFVII back then. I crushed pretty hard on Celes in FFVI too. Also weirdly fixated on Dollface from Twisted Metal Black, but I wouldn't really call that love. Then there's The Boss from MGS3. I was more in awe of her than in love with her, but holy shit pulling that trigger was HARD to do.
The only ones to actually make me hurt inside when they died were Aeris and The Boss.

I see a lot of newfags like you around these parts, and you love to have that elitist view of this shit website. Don't get me wrong, reddit is shit too. Like, 90% of it is just complete fucking trash and it's not going to last another decade.
The really super cool thing is that you can (to a certain degree) choose what you see! 4chan is the same way too! Wow! With that being said, 4chan overall has really gotten more and more shit since the SJW mods were hired and moot left.
Inb4 nostalgia, it was just objectively better. The community was smaller and closer-knit, and now its just a fucking shitfest, of newfags. With that being said, there are a few niche communities that have really kept the torch burning. That's what I go to reddit for, thats what I go to 4chan for. I was in denial for the first little while. I couldn't believe I was feeling such impossibly strong feelings for someone that doesn't exist. I think there's a pretty good chance, I've improved my Japanese and I share a lot of interests and view points with Fuuka, I really would love getting to meet her and talking with her.
>>377373903
This question hurts. I'm not sure, but my first guess is probably not. Although I can be nice, and I'm not boring, I'm awkward around people. Becoming good friends with her wouldn't be too much of a challenge, but becoming closer than that would be very difficult. I do genuinely love her, I just don't know how to be that close to someone.
>>377373903
Probably not, because she's already madly in love with another man

>>377377481
I guess beggars can be choosers. They already have AI's that learn and change responses the more you interact with them.
No, because except for being decent jerk material when you're like 10-12 years old, if you haven't moved onto 3D you haven't evolved nor matured in your interactions. Because fuck just being able to look at and fantasize about the person you fall in love with, the best is when you can actually do stuff with them. And really this evolution in being able to truly love is part of what determines maturity. Fake 2d shit like this topic is as childish as it gets when it comes to love.
>>377377667
2D is coming to 3D
>>377377650

>>377377827
>What is worse, a person who loves 2D and only 2D, or a person who loves 3D but cannot obtain it?
Neither; they are both the same person.
>>377378005

am I just doomed to be considered immature because of something i cannot help?
>>377343605
Yes but nobody else seems to like her.
>>377377667

A robot is not the girl I love, it's a mere imitation that is programmed to act like her based on data I already have.
A robot can't tell me about her childhood, about her life, about her favorite color, she can't tell me anything I don't already know, and that's why she'll never be able to replace my waifu.
Maybe
>>377378842
>A robot can't tell me about her childhood, about her life, about her favorite color, she can't tell me anything I don't already know
This is what the posers don't understand. We don't want what we know we want, we want what we don't know we want. We want a living, breathing person that loves us out of their own will. We love the base idea of what a character is, and we want more of what we don't know about them.
>>377355680
This. In-fact don't post any "lewds" of any character without their express permission.
>>377378110
But you probably can help it. You just aren't looking nor working on yourself hard enough.
>>377378157
Sure you do. Which one of the attempts at sexed up fanarts did you post ITT?
>>377378512
You'll just turn off the robot the instant it disagrees with you, or it will have a certain programmed way of disagreeing with you. That's nothing close to being convincing.
>>377378587
>implying you can choose who you fall in love with
This is true, but I don't think it is in the way you're thinking of it.
>>377378796
To imply that you never cared for 3D ever is a lie. My guess is you were bullied and ostracized for being a weirdo.
>>377379216

>>377379216
>You'll just turn off the robot the instant it disagrees with you, or it will have a certain programmed way of disagreeing with you. That's nothing close to being convincing.
You don't know that.
>>377379078
That's an interesting way of putting it.
But you're right, the best part of love is that you get to interact with another person that has feelings and desires like any other person, but that also resonates with your own.
>>377379216
>This is true
If you really think it's true, that you can't help who you love, then you wouldn't be shitting on us, mate. The fact you're writing these things proves the opposite: you think people have a choice in who they love
>>377379014
And I'd like Little Miss Forge to be my daughteru
>>377379216
>Which one of the attempts at sexed up fanarts did you post ITT?
That's insulting to the character, so much so that it deserves a ban. I don't post that kind of thing of any character.
I did, and then I realized a video game girl can never hold me or love me.
I'm having a hard time playing anything with romance anymore. Even music with love themes is starting to get on my nerves.I fell in love with Aigis

>>377343605

>>377379216
>To imply that you never cared for 3D ever is a lie
Oh, I never said never. Note how I used present tense in my post. I don't care for it right now, I haven't in years
But I always liked fictional characters more, even when I was like 3 years old. No one knew about it though so I couldn't be bullied for it. Nice generalizations though
>>377379840
i've got to stop being 5'3 too

>>377379771
Oh, another goddamn Fuuka poster. So...did you post the OP where her tits are bigger and her face doesn't look as deformed? Or the manga panels that overexaggerates her in an attempt to be cutesy? Or the one where she's wearing no pants? Or the one where you projected yourself to be P3's main character and 'married' her?
>>377379840
What is love, besides a release of chemicals in the brain?
>>377379840
Not that guy but every time I hear get /fit/ as advice, which I hear nearly all the time, I lost a bit more hope in myself.
If I have to get muscles and shit just to get a gf then I really am beyond saving and should probably keep out of everyone's lives for their sakes. It's not like I'm fat or fucking melted face, but the idea just feels shallow.
>>377380026
I wasn't talking about any one character. Sexing any character up is very rude.
A video game? No...
>>377380067

>>377379923
>even when I was three years old
So you never grew up after three years old? Because everybody loved fictional characters more at that age. Thomas the tank engine, tellitubbies, *insert young child friendly fictional thing*
^that, along with the fact that you did like 3D at one point, makes my initial assertion in this topic ring out 100% true.
>>377379924
Lift. It's not uncommon to see male bodybuilder types be in the 5'2 to 5'4 range. In fact, I am pretty sure the manlet meme is so popular on /fit/ because a lot of the posters there are actually manlets.

I don't think you realize we aren't the people programming the robots. People are "programmed" too, to like a dislike things. It's just that instead of punching in some code, people influence eachother and some random parts of our brain might decide some stuff too. I could program a bot to be "raised" in a certain way, or have an algorithm that decides film taste in a logical but human way. Robots can have the same random unknown traits that humans do. Thats what RNG is man.
Also; why would you assume one would just turn off their wife if they had a disagreement? Do you normally completely shut down to new ideas and reject people based on their opinions and views?

You can fall in love with things rather than people, too.
>>377380115
It's not neccesarily the surface level of the action that counts. Rather it's more the "I take care of myself, invest in myself, and strive to improve myself" aspect of it that's actually important. That automatically builds up a kind of confidence that'll always stay with as long as you maintain yourself. The opposite where you look unhealthy shows to others that you don't care about yourself enough.
>>377380115

People aren't programmed though. If you have ever done coding in your life, you know that logic plays a large role in it. RNG in programming doesn't work at all like what you're describing it as due to the sheer amount of variables and results that would come from them which would all have to be specified. 500 petabytes equivalent of memory isn't going to be magically used to sell sex dolls just like that.
>>377380465
Get your head out of your ass. It's so far up there that you're in a perpetual state of woe is me. I didn't tell you to get roided up, just lift. >What do I need to do to romance Fuuka?
A pure and honest heart, one that has the will to help her grow and find more about herself by encouraging her and supporting her, and that will make sure she is happy and has everything she needs.
Once you have that, the next step is grinding Courage.
Fuuka's S.Link requires max courage, you can max it before she joins if you focus on it.
The ways to increase your courage are the following:
Go to the nurse every time you get tired and he'll give you some points in courage whenever you take his medicine.
The arcade has a horror house that costs 3000 yen but gives a good amount of points too.
The movie theater shows some horror movies at half the price of that.
If you're particularly lacking in money you can easily go to the karaoke at paulownia or duckburger at the strip mall, both cost 800 yen.
Since you don't have much to do the first nights of the game, my advice would be to go to the arcade or the karaoke as much as possible.
Remember to treat her well, anon.

Sometimes. Helps to actually be a good character design.

That's not love
>>377381237
As an official armchair psychologist, people ARE programmed. Its called conditioning and while its not as solid as logical code, its pretty similar. Also, who says i cant love an object like a person? You seem to be the only person here saying that and you provided no semblance of proof.

That's because nothing romantically nice has ever happened to me in my life even though I have tried.
I'm sorry but when you bang your heart a wall for several years it starts to hurt so you stop doing it.
>there are a ton of /fit/ people or a musician like Prince or the guy who plays in the local doom metal band here who are even a bit shorter than you yet pull it off.
You know what anon? You are right.
I've been a fucking pussy faggot all along.
I should learn how to play several instruments and master my voice, get in a band, become a world renowned singer, songwriter, producer and dancer worth several million dollars to balance for some genetic fuckup that wasn't my fault and only happened because my dad's shittiest sperm somehow won the race and got my mother's shitty ovum pregnant.

>>377382120
It is, but one trip to tartarus from the floor you are to a guardian boss should make it so you have enough money for the month, by selling all the weapons, equipment and items you don't need and getting coins from the shuffle time.
Good luck anon, and enjoy your game.

>>377381587
>As an official armchair psychologist...
Yeah...that's too basic a level of what we are trying to talk about here though.
>Also, who says i cant love an object like a person?
It's literally objectification, not actual love. You are thinking OF that thing. Since it's not real there's no reason to think ABOUT it.
>>377381825
Nah, it makes perfect sense, because immaturity means less experience with how things really work. If anyone thinks that can be genuinely in love (not just base level attraction) with a non-living object, they don't have the experience needed to be able to understand what being in love actually is.
>>377381875
So you decided to give up after banging your head against the wall multiple times? Anyone's doomed to fail over and over again if they make the same mistake. We are all video game players here, we should know this better than anyone else (unless all you play is David Cage games.)
>m-muh money
I gave examples of which one was of a rich person. Even then I chose prince rather than a depressed rich manlet like Thom Yorke because the money wasn't the point there, it's how much one loves and takes care of themselves. Like I told the "muh gym is shallow" guy, it's not the surface of the activity that matters, but what it implies. If you don't give a damn when it comes to taking care of yourself, nobody else will.
>>377383131
>Yes you do
Because you said so? Ok, Mr. "I decide how things in life should work"
>>377383131
You're right, we're all videogame players here so let me make an analogy.
Expecting me to triumph in romantic relationships considering how I look is like expecting me to be a successful competitive fighting game player with only one hand and half a joystick.
It's not going to happen. Better looking men are common. I am not average, I am below it.
Why would a woman then love me? One reason: money.
>Anyone's doomed to fail over and over again if they make the same mistake
You're right, wanna know which is my mistake? Being short.
> If you don't give a damn when it comes to taking care of yourself, nobody else will.
You are childish if you believe women like fit men because it proves that they work hard and whatever.
Men do the same thing. No one cares if some bitch kills herself squatting. All they care about is whether she has a nice ass or not.
You guys should relax.
Have a Fuuka to help ease the tension.
>>377383345
Nope that's just how it works. Romantic love isn't a one way street ffs.
>>377383537
>Expecting me to triumph in romantic relationships considering how I look is like expecting me to be a successful competitive fighting game player with only one hand and half a joystick.
You aren't disabled though. The better analogy is expecting you to beat a guy with a PS4 controller instead of an arcade stick. Tough? Yeah a bit. Doable? For sure.
The rest of your post just makes you sound very bitter and embarrassing if you think women don't appreciate ambition and achievement in men. Hell that's kinda what they do. Even the gym thing is more about taking care of oneself; it's been shown multiple times that for women the optimal body isn't necessarily a buff guy but a lean one. Someone who's willing to get shit done shows that they are worth having a relationship with, worth being loving to. Comparatively if that someone's lazy, makes excuses, etc. then that only shows that this person won't invest anywhere near as much in a relationship either because they'll either be lazy or make excuses for it.
>No one cares if some bitch kills herself squatting. All they care about is whether she has a nice ass or not.
That's got nothing to do with romantic love though. Just a nice view to look at.
>>377384087
>Romantic love isn't a one way street ffs
I just wanted to add my two cents
That's true, but waifuism isn't really romantic love.
Waifuism is solely unrequited love, but that doesn't make it a bad thing.
>>377383131
>If anyone thinks that can be genuinely in love (not just base level attraction) with a non-living object, they don't have the experience needed to be able to understand what being in love actually is
It just looks like you're trying to force your own definition of love here. So many of you normalfags try to do that in these kind of threads. There's no right or wrong way to experience love
If I feel burning in my heart and the desire to make someone (or something, as you said) happy, it can't be anything else but love to me
>>377384087
>Romantic love isn't a one way street ffs
One-sided love, unrequited love has always been a thing
>>377384087
>You aren't disabled though.
I might as well be, where attraction is concerned.
>Someone who's willing to get shit done shows that they are worth having a relationship with
Right, and getting shit done means hitting the gym and looking like Adonis.
Also explains how so many deadbeat men have girlfriends that love them.
I am bitter. I've been rejected all my life for something I never had a choice on, how can I not be bitter?
>expecting waifu thread
>get armchair psychology
>>377384253
>>377384316
Unrequited love by its definition isn't really love at all. Its one-sidedness implies a selfish desire that really doesn't take into account the thoughts and feelings of the one being "loved".
>If I feel burning in my heart and the desire to make someone (or something, as you said) happy, it can't be anything else but love to me
How can you make a non-living thing happy? You can't. There's no real interaction happening between you and it. That thing doesn't have emotions.
>>377384413
>how can I not be bitter?
Work towards something. Doesn't have to be /fit/ route. It's not even just about getting bitches, but it helps get your mind in a way off the bitterness.
Aeris, Princess Zelda in OoT, and Rinoa
I thtink not really any others, but I really liked Lie Fang in doa2 and doax and i think Mary Rose is the most beautiful FG character ever
>>377384973
>Unrequited love by its definition isn't really love at all.
Not true, you can love someone and want the best for them even if they don't return the feelings.
> Its one-sidedness implies a selfish desire that really doesn't take into account the thoughts and feelings of the one being "loved".
That's false, one can love someone and do everything in their reach to make them happy, even if the person they are trying to make happy doesn't feel the same for them.
>>377384973
>Unrequited love by its definition isn't really love at all.
Watching the average 4chan user stretch their vocabulary really grows old after so many years.
>>377384973
>How can you make a non-living thing happy?
Uh, you can't. I never implied that. Learn to read
You can, however, have the DESIRE to do it, even when you know it's impossible. Are you telling me you have never wished for something impossible?

>>377385464
>That's false, one can love someone and do everything in their reach to make them happy, even if the person they are trying to make happy doesn't feel the same for them.
In the case discussed in this topic (waifus/non-living objects), a selfless unrequited love is impossible, thus it isn't really love at all.
>>377385471
Yeah, people only reading half a sentence and a quarter of the full point really does get old indeed.
>>377385591
>You can, however, have the DESIRE to do it, even when you know it's impossible. Are you telling me you have never wished for something impossible?
These are the kind of things that go away though as a person learns and matures. Sounds like child-like optimism to me. That desire has nothing to do with love. All fantasy no content.
>For some reason normalfags have a tendency to suffer from poor reading comprehension
For obvious reasons children can't keep up with the very conversation they are participating in.
>>377384973
>That thing doesn't have emotions
It shows emotion in whatever fictional work they're from, and that's what makes you fall in love with it
Oh, but they're not real emotions, right? They were just programmed by whoever made the game/whatever thing. However, my brain isn't gonna give a shit about that
>>377386082

The irrational part of you never completely goes away, no matter how much you grow up. It's human nature, we can be irrational beings, which makes us long for things we cannot have
>Sounds like child-like optimism to me
And there's nothing inherently wrong with that, really.
>That desire has nothing to do with love
You are no one to decide these things
>>377386558
This
>>377386436
>I wish nothing but her happiness.
See, that's what it's about. It's about being happy because you're doing what would make her happy. It doesn't matter if you can actually make her happy or not, because if she was real, she would be made happy by your actions.
>>377386287
>However, MY brain isn't gonna give a shit about that
Bingo.
>>377386436
>I-I'll show my fake thing that I love how much I love her
>see! I posted a picture of giving her cake
>oh look at how much I have helped her! I did her social link in the game
You don't see actual returns from this love though. Just little preprogrammed sequences.
>>377387028
>The irrational part of you never completely goes away, no matter how much you grow up.
I agree, this actually makes the basis for my argument earlier up there about muh waifu robots. But humans at the same time aren't just sheer irrationality either. Again, to have the levels of irrationality being that high compared to the rational side of a human implies that they are immature, they have yet to learn to be able to control themselves.
>And there's nothing inherently wrong with that, really.
So you agree with me that those that like these...waifus are in fact less mature and experienced in the realm of reality?
>You are no one to decide these things
I am not. You are. Yet you choose to be selfish in your love for something that can't give genuine response to it. Not all that loving and caring.
>>377387449
>You don't see actual returns from this love though
That's not necessarily true.
I don't see her says he loves me or that she is happy, that's true.
But I do get a lot of self-satisfaction by working on myself with her in mind.
By improving my own being with her as my motivation I feel like an immense happiness and fulfillment.
Fuuka has the voice of an angel.

A waifu teaches one to love selflessly. Pitiful normalfags, their love pales in comparison to Dante's love for Beatrice.

>>377387778
>self-satisfaction by working on myself in her mind
But her mind is not an actual thing. What is going on in her mind is determined entirely by you. Changing her reactions through in game mechanics is no different from a lever. It's literally like a virtual slave doll of some sort. Fake love, fake self-improvement, fake happiness.
