I just turn off teamchat entirely in the social tab every time I boot up the game nowadays. I'm in diamond. Could easily climb to master if I bothered with 7+ games a week.

Seriously though this community is CS 1.6 levels of shit. Why anyone below master would even bother to try to communicate with each other is beyond me. Pure mechanical skill will win you more games below master than team communication ever will. It only starts getting really important in higher rated games, same goes for practically any video game out there.

Having played a lot of MMOs in the past though it seems pretty obvious to me that females do tend to get treated a lot different online solely based on their voice alone. Seems like a coin toss whether this works in their favor or not though, and in a game like Overwatch where you most likely won't even play with the same person again for days or even weeks there's really no point in sucking up to anyone. This was the case in DotA 2 as well whenever I heard the very rare female speak in the top 1% player bracket.

Pretty sure a lot of people in this thread could at the very least relate to having some
female guildmember in WoW or FFXIV or whatever be treated either much better than others or much worse. In rare cases this could even result in entire guilds disbanding due to unnecessary drama sparking from it.
