Yeah, that's the practice part of the equation. It's pretty surprising how easy it is when you think of it like that though. I think most people who try and socialize more immediate go for some 10/10 qtpie and fuck up because they get nervous, which everybody does, but those who actually have experience have a tried and true fall back option, at least that's what I do. I started lurking around 2006-2007ish, and I feel like the "on-topic discussion to shitposting" ratio has reversed. /v/ used to be 90% on topic with a few (videogame related) shitposts and occasional threads with people baiting religious arguments (which is how the fedora tipping meme started actually), but now its 90% shitposting with a little vidya discussion.

I don't really know why I still come to this board, I guess its out of habit, but I don't really talk about videogames here like I used to. I mostly just lurk now and poke my head in a few times a day to stay current with news and shit, but twitter is almost better for that than /v/ is now anyway

I've forgotten. What year did people start using the world cuckold or cuck on here? I'm sure cuckolding has been around for longer but suddenly almost every thread was infested with racebaiting and cuck-accusations and has spread over to real life media and politics. It felt like it went from zero to a hundred over night.

Why is /v/ slow now? There's multiple threads that have been up for 12+ hours. Most new threads barely get any replies before 404ing. In the few active threads, it feels like I'm talking to a lot of the same people

I swear to god people do that shit. I know traffic has only increased over the years, but you see posts that aren't even special getting loads of replies. Posts that even back in 2011 wouldn't get as many replies as they're getting. I'm sure it's a lot of group mentality, desire to fit in, and wanting your post to be in a screencap because newfags are attention whores I guess. I think people are getting shit like that rolling by replying to themselves though. The popularity of posting screencaps of "wacky" things from 4chan outside of 4chan has risen a lot, so people are probably manufacturing screencaps to post on their tumblrs. I've seen so many tumblrs popping up on that shit site for things like posting screencaps of weird posts on /ck/ and /k/. To clarify I just use tumblr for following artists and I see them reblogging that kind of posts from those sort of tumblrs.

It's pretty much normal fags perpetuating irony and post irony culture at this point I think. Most of them probably won't be able to do post-post irony and will give up or end up doing it so wrong that they just end up being sincere. I doubt most of them even really understand post irony since it starts to get to stupid and meta for most people to get it beyond base reactions. There's a reason the most popular ironic memes are fried super artifacted smash that like button pictures and over base boosted audio. If a someone replies to a post you made your post number in their post will have a (you) next to it. It's ultimately a pointless feature just there for really brain dead people who have a hard time following replies or remembering their own post, so the kind of people that get irrationally happy when they see they got a reply. Pretty sure it wasn't always a feature and is either just a part of 4chan plugins or was added by default a year or 2 back when they added all those other features from different 4chan browser plugins.
