I can finally get this off my chest since I know there's a very small chance people will actually see it and there's no way it can ever be traced back to me
I was one of the misguided souls who started the whole MLP thing. I was there in the very first /co/ threads making reaction images because I grew up with MLP and really like the style. Some of the earliest reaction images from MLP were my doing and I still see them posted to this day. On top of that I convinced some friends to watch and they convinced some friends, and it just kept spiraling from there. I remember when people thought we were joking and it was some ruse cruise to get you to watch a kid's show, but we actually liked it. At least I did, but there were plenty who hopped on because they knew how angry it made people. I kept the early threads bumped and created many new ones well into the era of it really blowing up and it still boggles my mind to this day that I left an impact on the world in the worst way possible. I feel some semblance of relief now that it's pretty much died down but I feel like I helped birth a new, disgusting form of monstrous fandom that permanently changed "fandom" culture for the worse.
