Nintendo controls review copies extremely cautiously. They essentially give Switch's as a form of payment for good scores, I am sure actual money is exchanged as well.

It's obvious when embargo's lift and the same 50 favorite Nintendo reviewers are there meanwhile every other game from any other publisher gets 100+ reviews because they send review copies to every one and every outlet and don't try and control the score.

This is why I don't pay attention to Nintendo metacritics score anymore, it's really paid marketing, watching scores for other games is far more enjoyable because you know it's real and can go either way.
