For Decode Talker you need 2 or more effect monsters

For some you just need anything from tokens, to trap monsters to even other link monsters. They're basically rituals without the need for the correct levels or a ritual card, fusions without the need for correct fusion material, synchros without the need for a tuner monster and required levels, xyz without having to match levels and pendulums without needing the correct scales. They're going to power creep the game hard to the point the extra deck will now be known as the link deck

Power creep hit hard during the early Japanese version of the game. Shapesnatch aside, most of these cards were either playable pack filler or actually GOOD at one point in the OCG at one point. Celtic Guardian is a good example, it was at one point the monster with the highest Attack that didn't require a tribute, and it was only available by preordering the original Starter Box at a Theatre in Japan. That's why it was printed as a Super Rare originally, it was keeping the actually deserving rarity from the OCG.

Synchro and Pendulum are bad methods, they take forever to do and the ycan easily be stopped with any xyz monster rank 4 monsters. The game is suppose to be fast and if your deck requires you to keep drawing and special summoning and searching for 15 minutes to make a board that'll be torn apart anyway it's a bad deck and a bad method. I hate rituals for this reason as well, Nekroz had some bullshit effects that showed exactly what's wrong with rituals, they have to be like synchros and pendulums and that's bad.

Fusion,Xyz and Links are the way to go, they're fast and you can't just vomit them out one after another and the decks that try it tend to be crap like Frightfurs, Raidraptors and Star Grails

you play a 700 atk monster in atk mode. enemy plays 1000 atk monster and tries to attack it. trap card cancels the attack. now you fusion the 700 atk into a 1200 atk monster and attack.

remember each player also only had 2000 lifepoints back then.

The card won't work because Links are immune to cards that deal with defense. It's like cards that mess with levels not affecting xyz monsters and before anyone asks,, no it doesn't mean that the Link would get it's attack reduced to zero or that it's defense counts as zero, it flat out is not affected by cards like this. Dark Magician modern day support is horrible especially Dark Magic Circle and Eternal Soul, you can't do shit with those cards nor can you really do shit with the 3 xyz for that deck. It's dumb, in fact, all of Yugi's support has been dumb they managed to make something inconsistent be inconsistent in their own fucking archetypes and fill them with tons bricks. Black Luster Soliders and Buster Bladers are dead draw city, Dark Magicians have no protection or quick ways to get Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl on the field at the same time, Gaia Knights have nothing in common with each other they just share the same name, Celtic Guardians,Silents and Gandoras don't do shit for each other and Magician Girls are so basic your opponent will just laugh at you. It's amazing, all of these cards they had to work with for Yugi and they just gave him more unworkable garbage. Same with Joey's Red Eyes, it's everything and nothing at the same time, how do you manage that? Meanwhile Blue Eyes used to be meta and is somewhat strong.
