The biggest change you'd feel is the battle system, as P3P's was based off of P4's. I never really had much trouble, even with Mitsuru's Marin Karin; just remember that changing Commands in-battle is vital.

And The Answer is there too, if you're interested. I liked the different feel and increased difficulty of it, but it's not for everyone.

P3P only has 3d models in tartarus, FES has them everywhere. However it's only important having the 3d in tartarus anyway so it's a moot point. The quality of life improvements, and improved battle system in Portable make it the superior choice.

Problem was that Atlus can't optimise for shit. Persona 3 is not a demanding title, GoW on PSP looks better than Persona 3 on PS2.

Give it to a competent studio and you could have ported the whole game, minus cutscenes and maybe VA.

FES has anime cutscenes and the world you walk around is in 3D, in P3P You use a pointer to interact with stuff on the map instead of walking to it, tartarus exploring and battle is pretty much the same but you can control your party members.
I'd say play FES if it's your first time and if you want to replay/play female MC then play p3p

I would suggest playing Fes by emulating it and then playing p3p as the female protagonist. P3p doesn't have 3d models out of tartarus and doesn't have the extra content story that Fes has (not important and is just dungeons). P3p does improve the combat by making it possible to directly control team members

I tried playing P3P as my first P3 experience as well, after the first "cutscene" i googled how it'd look in FES and immediately switched to FES

The VN format kind of sucks ass and you miss out on animated scenes. Some of the suck, some of them are neat.

You get the option to playthrough as a female version of the main character with new links. You get full party control which sounds like it would make the game a straight upgrade but it's honestly a negligable change considering how easy and simple combat is already. You lose out on the Answer, which love it or hate it, provides a good chuck of gameplay and canon story content.

Personally I don't see how people can prefer P3P. Watching the whole last part of the game play out with no 3D environments, character models, or animated cutscenes made everything feel so lackluster and disappointing.

I downloaded P3FES undub and it lets me choose between remix music and original bgm music. what's the difference?
