Still, the game as a whole was still great overall, and it's a shame that it had to shrivel off and die in a terrible sequel.

The only reasons people say the game is disgusting is because it was overhyped and didn't live up to its predecessors.
I never heard of this game until my friends helped chip in to buy me an xbox to play games with them and once I got it, they got me Reach and Game Related for my birthday.

Just recently beat the SEBEC route in the game and I have to disagree about the battle system. The formation system, along with the battle speed, really drag the experience down to a slog. - Ultimately, the formation system just becomes a hinderance that takes time out of the actually meat of the game to force you to position your units ahead of time and then switch between a max of 4 present battle formations during the actual battle - but it doesn't actually add anything. Since you can easily beat the game by largely ignoring the system in the first place as it already stands, it just means that you end up restricting the moves you use to a handful of magic attacks that can target anywhere on the field bar the annoying enemies that can only be damaged by Phys attacks. It just makes the entire, already fairly annoying system, feel like a waste of time and energy on the dev's part.

I still find it a serviceable beat em' up with a fun variety of characters and a few nice concepts.

FFXV, Chapter 13 was my favorite.

It captured the atomosphere and feeling of hopelessness perfectly, and I loved the twist if you read all the reports. All it needs to fix it is to me made shorter, but Square is going to fuck it up.

I went all the way though with it.
Not only did I beat the game but I set out on getting my party ultima weapons + 255 stats everything and legit beat Penance without Zanmato.
I did it in 150 hours.
I couldn't have beaten the game any harder into the ground.
All my friends ask why.

This is actually not my screenshot. To fight penance you actually do not need hp limit. In fact I would advise against it as you can have a build that does sub 9999 damage + be able to heal and have a decent rotation to beat him. But very rare items can be easily grinded with the monster arena. Though you need 10 of each monster captures from every zone including Omega ruins.

I played pokemon blue as a kid and was into the second and third game as well. But at some point catching and fighting trainers gets boring. The base game were never really a challenge either. The pokemon league is semi hard, and the train battles and such was very hard, but that is just a small part of the game.

A worse, shorter (15-20h even in your first playthrough) Borderlands 2 (same engine, really), but good for one playthrough, even it doesn't have much replayability because Gearbox Australia went under before they could finish the DLCs, but it has arguarbly the best gameplay in the series with some improvements like space jumping, better level scaling and the addition of ice element plus laser weapons.

Athena is a good melee character, Jack is the most OP character and Wilhelm is pretty easy to use, so I would recommend any of those.

Play it for a bit and see if you like it or not.

Undertale. The games fanbase and Alphys really don't do it any favors, but it has a good soundtrack, good gameplay, and some really cute interactions at moments. Also, pacifism is one of the neatest gimmicks I've seen in an rpg

Variety wasn't really the problem so much as an actual fucking challenge. I don't think there was a single proper puzzle until the cave before the legendary temple and the dragon trial.

It's my biggest complaint about the game, there's just no real environmental puzzles. I think Gamefreak is still just not good at dealing with a non-grid world. The areas look great, but the actual design mechanically is pretty poor.

I think I only ever played through the first one on the hardest difficulty, and it was honestly just an exercise in frustration. I pushed through because I was stubborn and had too much time, but it honestly just wasn't worth it. I love Uncharted, and have beaten all the games on crushing difficulty several times. It's fun to challenge myself with no-death runs.

From my experience, Uncharted 1 crushing difficulty is extremely unsatisfying. Enemies can't be stealth killed in any situation because of super-human situational awareness, fist fighting is unusable, they can spot you for 100s of yards away, have sniper-tier aim even with pistols and can kill you in like 2 shots. Enemy strength feels really unbalanced and forces you into one style of play (blind firing behind cover). It's not worth it.

On every other Uncharted game, crushing is significantly easier and fun. Naughty Dog just really fucked it up on the first game.

I don't think I've seen to many people speak positively about the Crushing difficulty, even on later games. Even from fans of the games. Mostly it's just been more of the same as the first: just overall more bullet spongey and annoying.

I'll probably give it a shot or two with 2 and 3, but don't really expect much.

DMC: Devil may cry

legit enjoyed the air combat and the claw tech.
Boss fights were abysmal but everything else was so floaty that I really enjoyed it.

actually kind of weird how different action games feel based on how floaty they are.
1-4 DMC are extremely rigid, bayonetta is pretty floaty but responsive, and DMC is playing with a parachute.
Nearly identical controls but they all feel incredibly different.

I personally never had an issue with any of the others. Stealth kills work, fist fighting works (as long as you're not a fucking idiot who thinks it will work in a wide open courtyard when you're surrounded), and enemy AI is a bit dumber than in 1. They're not that hard.

The key to success is that you can never stay planted in one safe spot during fights. You have to change position constantly or grenades will rain down on you and enemies will flank you.
