Wow, that does really suck for Nintendo. My Switch has had no issues at all which is great, I am always pretty lucky with electronics.

The PS4 launch didn't go great either if we all remember. In particular, my PS4 came with a controller that has that analog stick glide and sometimes the game wouldn't come out after hitting eject, and would sometimes even spit them out right after I put them in, and would do so with a crunch.
Patches have seemed to fix this however, which is strange.

Lets hope Nintendo fix some of these issues, the Switch is pretty good fun and it can only get better with more game releases.

To be fair, and I'm not defending Nintendo or anything, but during the part where it doesn't detect the game card, and they pull it in and out... even if it's considered "hot-swapping" while the system was on and it's something that you could technically do since the DSi, I never have done that.
I always turn the system off before taking out a game cartridge and putting in a new one.

Okay seeing as you're not getting it there are four major factors that you're doing something wrong.

1) You're putting the wrong grips on the wrong controller as indicated by the plus and minus not matching the controller
2) The plus and minus symbols not matching up with their respective button on the controller. The grip also comes to a solid halt at the end of the rail on the controller when putting it on. When upside down also it slides on with some resistance and clicking.
3) The string. Common sense but I'll explain anyway, the controller is useless when it's upside down.
4) Force. If you have to apply an unusual amount of force then you're doing something wrong this one also goes hand in hand with points one and two in that placing it upside down or backwards requires force for it to stay attached.

It's common sense and observation. No different than a child forcing multiple AAA batteries into a AA hole or bending the ports and connectors for consoles and chargers.
Using the "but kids" angle literally does nothing to change this and if anything it just shows that parents should be aware of what their kids are doing like good parents should.
