This whole shitstorm happened because game journos lack an ethics code.

There should exist a binding agreement between the journalists and the developers that states the following: If the journo covers the game and receives any special benefit, then they are NOT to provide a review for the game.

Any news outlet that does not comply to sign the agreement will be subject to ridicule as it means they are rejecting basic journalistic integrity. Both the outlet and the game will be boycotted (just pirate it fags) if any party refuses to sign the agreement.


The reason all of this happens is because there is No code for ethics for gaming journos. Allowing them to have their own individual definition of standards is what causes the mess. It's in the power of the consumer ultimately, to demand that the journalists uphold a code of conduct.

This could work as a treaty, and in the best interest of everyone involved. We would require to amass a gigantic following to create pressure with the boycott though.
