So I'm probably in the majority on /u/ for this opinion, but my favorite parts of the show were just when Papika and Cocona had quiet little intimate moments together. Like when they slept together on the beach or in Papika's pipe house.

It's just very characteristic of the last portion of the show. They focused on flashy stuff trying to make it as dramatic as possible to hype the viewers up, but shoving everything not a 100% crucial into the shed behind the house despite the build up. I mean think about it for a second, Cocona, whose wish was specifically mentioned and integral to her character and development, doesn't even know that Salt is her dad by the last time the credits roll. There's also the SaltxSayuri couple they were trying to set up only to completely backtrack out of it (I know, het is cancer, but from a storytelling perspective that was build up with literally no pay off, bad writing). It's never addressed where everybody lives now, the director himself said don't think feel. Yayaka didn't even get to apologize to Cocona for deceiving her even though that was once again explicitly set up in the previous episode before she henshin'd. Nyunyu was at best a meta joke about a Thomasson firing a Chekhov's gun and Iroha never contributed more to the show than being used to explain the deeper PI layer and give Cocona second thoughts about it. The last three episodes were incredibly rushed because they wanted to throw as much awesome stuff at us as possible, but I think it detracted from the enjoyment in the end. I'm sure if we had an extended ending things would have been answered and shown that Cocona does care about other people around her and eloping with Papika isn't the end to all questions. Sure, Yayaka is never getting in on the action, but Cocona isn't the kind of girl not to forgive her and still be friends.

It was stated in the Kojima's portion of the interview from last thread that the point of Nyunyu's existence was that Oshiyama thought that they were missing a template twintails character. Kojima then followed that up by giving her a lewd battle outfit while they were at it. So yeah, she was pretty much a joke character, a red herring to fake us out and provide some cute/lighthearted fanservice. Personally, I rather liked her (her "onee-sama" moment in the last episode was great). (The Chekov's gun allusion is fairly convincing but I hesitate to give it too much emphasis; since it seems quite clear that the purpose if Nyunyu was to poke fun at overenthusiastic analysis in the first place.)

I don't think there's anything wrong with taking a more serious or emotionally involved approach to the show, but there is legit something to be said about simply letting yourself be swept along with what's on the screen. There are certainly narrative aspects that could've been executed better; I don't have major objections to any of the points brought up by >>2230014. However, my reaction towards anyone whose major takeaway from the series' end was a long list of complaints is that it's a bit of a pity that they couldn't simply have had more fun with it.

I really prefer the YayakaxSayuri pairing, I think they would be a really nice match personality wise and with the little age gap that at this stage is still a huge deal. The director himself was admitting that the masculinity of those Papis is a blemish on the yuriness of the series. It's a small and ultimately irrelevant blemish but it exists. Alright, I was just a little confused since according to HS subs, Papika "got separated" from Cocona when Cocona "disappeared", so it made it seem like Cocona being sent back was unplanned.
