So I'll be watching ancient shoujo series and looking for their yuri content. I'll post it here just if anyone cares:
>Idol Densetsu Eriko
Literally the second idol anime for little girls ever made. The first one is, of course, Creamy Mami. However, Creamy Mami is driven by het; nothing wrong with that, it's just a statement of a fact. The main plot point in Creamy Mami is how Yu's childhood friend crush is in love with her alter-ego Mami. Either way, other than Eriko being a much more dramatic show, the key difference between the shows is how they deal with rivalry: in Eriko it's dead serious. Either way, Eriko also has a lot more female characters around Eriko. The main yuribait is with the rival Rei (obviously) and Eriko's senpai Yasuko. Eriko's relationship with Rei is actually one of the primary elements in the narrative. Eriko idolizes Rei and has very complicated feelings towards her that range from basically in love with her to jealously to obsession. Rei is the typical edgy tsundere rival that can't stop looking at Eriko and feeling irritated but still jumping in to save her every single time. Yasuko is basically Eriko's "Prince" who appears every time she is danger and dashingly saves her. The show has het but it's basically reduced to an afterthought; there were, for example, hints that there was going to be a love triangle with Eriko, Rei and a rock star named Shogo but it was completely abandoned as Rei just didn't like Shogo. Eriko DOES like Shogo, but it's funny because very late in the series there is a hilariously gay scene in Eriko tells him that she is jealous of him because he gets to be close to Rei all the time, Shogo gets flustered because he thought she would be jealous of Rei instead; then Eriko stares at the city from the window and Rei's face is reflected on it.

There is also a generic childhood friend dude that some times tries to force himself on Eriko, but Eriko doesn't look at him that way and he is mostly a joke character. Also notable is that the final arc is about Eriko running away because she has lost sight of herself in fame and popularity and the penultimate episode is about the characters talking about Eriko and the ways in which she affected them and changed everyone; the episode focuses on Rei and Yasuko.

There is no romantic resolution one way or another.

Original Mai-Hime manga had both Mai AND Natsuki lusting for the male MC. Even in the end they were competing for him.

In the anime, handled by this guy, the male MC fucking died and Natsuki was a lesbian who survived and got together with Shizuru.

I'm okay with Mai-Hime actually because it was still relevant to the plot. Yes, it was annoying, but the aftermath was interesting.
There was no reason to make Arika fall in love with Sergey, though. That was just pointless drama who ruined a big part of the show.

And the manga doesn't matter. This was an original anime. If the manga is harem, is not because the writer had a different vision, but the producers thought the demographic was different. This guy didn't change anything. He was the original creator.

It's not like it's common to search for outside sources like that. Since she was clearly a couple with Shizuru in Otome, the pairing was probably popular at the time in Japan. So any material that comes after the anime ended, after seeing reactions, could appeal to that.

Her scenes in the anime weren't written with her being a lesbian, though. Of course, you could say she didn't realize it yet, but as she never does in the anime, that was probably intentional. There's a lot of reason they would do that, though. But the possibility that Shizuru's feelings were originally supposed to be unrequited is strong.

But well, we can't really know what were the writer intentions, so it's pointless to argue about it.

Other idol anime seem to be a good source of yuri subtext or straight up yuri. But I haven't seen much about this show posted here.
Probably because it's a few years old. I seem to always think about watching something long after it comes out and is no longer relevant.

Dengeki Daioh will be releasing a yuri anthology on Nov 26th (the same day as Yagate Kimi ni Naru vol 3). It appears to be a one-time release for now.

Nakatani Nio will be doing the cover (pic related), as well as a short story about the featured characters. Other authors (19 in total) include: Amano Shuninta, Isaki Uta, Itou Hachi, Nishio Shiori, Harumi Chihiro and Hirao Auri. More names will be released via the official dengeki daioh twitter account (dengeki_daioh).

I really like Studdo Ban Gyasshu ships. They have a shit ton of yuri fanart, but only by a handful of artist. Oddly enough there are a lot of artist who don't upload on Pixiv and post only on Twitter. The only reason I have a Twitter account now is for pictures of Cheety x Lyna and Zebrina x Fennely.

Chino Machiko is probably my favorite SB69 fan artist. Her (I assume a 'her') work is always beautiful. I even bought a key chain and a Studdo Ban Gyasshu doujin/art book from her from some website. I bought two of each.

It's based on 1970s manga, so (melo)drama and angst are at extreme level. I have not personally seen the anime, but I have read the manga and I did enjoy it for what it is. Kinda weird that they would make anime after 20 years of the publication, imagine that happening today.

FYI, that's an anthology type series and each episode is a stand-alone story, so you don't need to watch the whole thing if you don't feel like it. The only yuri story is episode 5, then episode 6 is the same story again from the other character's perspective. The rest of the series is pretty much unrelated stuff.

Feel her out by inquiring about what her favorite anime and manga have been. Also ask her what shows she watched this season, and in recent seasons. If she mentions many yuri friendly anime and manga then you can work your way into what shoujo-ai or yuri subtext content you are looking forward to. If she seems receptive and is also looking forward to some of the same you could work your way into discussing yuri.

They are twins, their butler in the beginning acknowledges them both. They both become worried that the other one might be interested in the violin guy, so they use those absurd machines to try to get into each other's heads. Then the story goes into that kinda silly "what is really real" segment, but all that really matters is that the final scene was real.

It will include illustrations by and interviews with Nakatani Nio, Canno, Kuzushiro, Morinaga Milk and Kurogane Kenn, asking them for "quintessentially yuri" recs and such. It will also have stuff like: yuri terminology explained, works that contributed significantly to the development of yuri, blurbs about 140 works separated by genre and the best 8 yuri manga covers according to voice actress Kitta Izumi.
