I don't know how it ends but one of the women is bisexual from the start (the premise is that she left her girlfriend for a guy and traveled all over after he died and now her and her baby live with her ex) so the bi tag is probably not there for a nasty surprise. I do recommend reading it, it's very adult (as in it's about adults and people trying to grow up) and it's been building up to the women re-establishing their relationship.

Usually someone ends up picking things that have been stalled forever (Yuru Yuri is the most recent example). I understand why the scanlation scene has developed the way it did, but I think it's about time to rethink certain things. Going half a year without even so much as a comment that things are in the works, should automatically free any given franchise. If you can't bother to write a sentence in 6 months, you are very unlikely to release anything.

I actually don't generally complain, except maybe about Dynasty's most recent discriminatory hosting policies.

I have given it some consideration in the past and even went through some tutorials myself, but I had a lot of anxiety about actually working with other people. If I don't fail all my exams this year and am free during the summer I think I will.

Does anyone else feel like too many scanlators take the cleaning/typesetting to an unnecessary extreme considering their lack of time and manpower? The anon who does Yuri Mekuru just slapped the text onto the page and it is still very enjoyable to read. My fondest memories of manga aren't the lack of english SFX or proper greyscale leveling but the fun of reading it. I don't mean I dislike nice raws but if it means we could see 1 chapter a month instead of 1 chapter a year then I'd take scratchy low-res over nothing any day.

Ability to make the scan look good and look close to the real thing is plus you'll copypaste someone's translation so you should have all those fonts aswell. I disagree. The difficulty of cleaning typesetting is a sliding scale that changes with your standards, and is made way easier by having decent scans to start with. The problem is a lack of translators.

Yeah. Listen to this. About one year ago some anon bough Fujiyuu Sekai. He done it only 'cause there were people willing to work on it. As soon as anon posted the raws they abandoned it. He even cleaned the whole tank for them to preper it for typesetting. A few months later someone finally posted a translation. But still no one wants to edit.

Hey now, I did in fact post a chapter of Tachibanakan relatively recently... kind of. But yeah, I'm a translator, not an editor (at least, not an effective/efficient one). I guess I could just go back to posting pastebins, but it's hard not to shake the worry that it'll never end up getting a proper edit in the end. I'm nowhere near as stringent with my edits as YP has a reputation for being, but it does feel satisfying to have a final product that I can feel a bit proud of. And remedial editing ability aside, I've definitely come to enjoy getting to do the whole translate/clean/typeset thing bubble by bubble, page by page, all in one fell swoop.

But I do want to let you guys know I'm not in any way possessive of these series. At all. I just like the stuff I work on, and since I'm literally who and can't get slapped with a cease and desist or anything for posting this stuff /u/, I least want take a crack at a decent looking release for the author's sake. If you lot are interested having all the raw materials to work with, I can provide raws and tls no problem.

And I'm not actually slacking/burning out, cross my heart! As a matter of fact, I'm just about done with the beefy first chapter of a sort of labour-of-love project. Honestly, I'm kind of stoked to share this with /u/. I'm getting all bubbly with excitement finishing these last few pages.

It's honestly one of the best yuri books I've ever picked up, especially these first couple of volumes. Like, no joke, it has me absolutely rapt. I keep getting sucked into reading through the whole damn series again every time I sit down to work on the edit.
