Now now. Yurirei is pretty mediocre, there is no reason to bash other yuri franchises. (especially given how relatively unknown Sono Hana is for English peaking people. The short nukige are translated, but none of the main-games are)


That said, I actually bought this. But mostly to support yuri. I was positively surprised at first, but it essentially became what I assumed it is, and I dropped it there. So I wouldn't consider this VN especially good or bad. But it's easy to figure out if it's something for you or not.

For /u/ I'd assume most like it. I personally am a bit different: I love yuri, but I dislike the yuri-genre. So this VN came simply too late for me. We have 2016, the genre opens up and changes, which I think it REALLY needs to, and Yurirei is simply 4 years old already. This is twice as disappointing, as this is a relatively long VN and they didn't use that at all. With manga we can't change that we simply get many many short works. Do you really have to emulate that in a VN?

I just finished the game. It was pretty darn good but I would have liked more interaction between Sachi and Megumi. They're like the game's poster couple yet most of their scenes were interactions with Yuna instead of each other, to the point they ended up underdeveloped as a couple, I think.

Just finished the game, but not the extra scenes. Yuna/Nina is so damn cute. I was expecting more scenes of Sachi and Megumi hinting at Yuna resolving her feelings, in the same way they had been fostering Yuri couples before but in a way that wasnt blatantly obvious. Megumi did a little teasing around the time of the senpai date, but after the confession Yuna wasn't shown broaching the subject with the Yurirei, just discussing her turmoil a few weeks later. I wish it were a bigger deal, showing the ghosts' perspective as they realized Yuna had yuri feelings of her own. Maybe in the extras there's some of this.

I also have to agree that Sachi and Megumi could have used some more focus on their own. I thought Sachi's secret would have a ton of pathos and drama, but it was sort of a simple accident that didn't amount to much. Megumi's insecurity was a little more interesting and made sense, but there just wasn't much to see at year 30 of their ghost relationship. I still cried when they beamed up. They didn't say aishteru to each other though, right?

Ah, maybe. And yeah Hina bringing Yuna back to reality and calming her down was great. I wish they had sprung for just a few additional cg frames for all the first kisses though. A few got them, like Sasa/Umi, and they were great. But Maki/Miki and even Yuna/Hina just had their faces close by and the kiss was described. It hurt my heart.

But I really hope more mostly realistic, but still lighthearted and moe Yuri VNs get translated. Western devs still can't hold a candle to the characters and art from Japanese VNs. I truly don't want to bring up the cancerous /v/ trolls from before, but it will be hard to go back to SH after this. Flowers isn't all drama and seriousness right?

This was explained before but Matsuri and Miyu both felt like they were right and refused to shoulder the blame. They fight often over little nothings but they never had to compromise and meet in the middle on something, which is a skill integral to any lasting relationship. Hina's name got brought up during the fight because she is awesome and who wouldn't, in the heat of the moment, compare a problem to literal perfection? So they both decided that instead of meeting in the middle they would take it upon themselves to prove that their side is the right one by getting Hina to agree to go out with one of them and winning their stubborn argument, which they thought would get the other one to apologize and return things to their previous status quo which was a relationship without compromise.

Miyu and Matsuri both had moments where they show how they aren't even interested in Hina, they just want their relationship to be fixed but they are stuck because they haven't learned to communicate on compromise. Now they do and they can live happily ever after, the end.

Well, Matsuri lucked out with Miyu in middle school, however Aki has been lusting after several girls since grade school and if I recall correctly she's the only one who explicitly says that she only likes women.
