>class-based multiplayer FPS based around yuri archetypes from rival all-girl anime Catholic schools waging warfare over the inane really appealed to me too, like TF2 by way of Stopani

I got it.

>The Freshman Tomboy
Energetic, scrappy and pugnacious, what this underclass athlete lacks in raw power she makes up for with speed and tenacity derived from track experience, augmenting her loadout with a bokken

>The Prince
A talented front-line fighter with no glaring weaknesses, bringing rapiers, epees and katanas to the battlefield for close range encounters

>The Sukeban
The delinquent assaults foes with an unconventional arsenal including a nail gun, yo-yos, aerosol flamethrowers, Molotov cocktails, fireworks juryrigged for bigger explosions, and baseball bats

>The Onee-Sama
The Big Dyke on campus is more interested in presenting a calm, collected persona than getting anywhere with any semblance of speed or urgency(unless it's to profess love after a sprint across campus), but her steely facade provides great survivability and her pimp hand is deadly in close quarters

>The Shrine Maiden
Japan's syncretic tendencies and questionable grasp of Catholic traditions allows our humble miko to support her school's efforts with shamanistic constructions, as well as softening up enemies and defending herself with a volley of ofuda and whacking things with a gohei

>The Underclassman
Fresh on campus, naive, and vulnerable to senpai's charms, she's still eager to help and support everyone's endeavors, and is most effective when patching up the big guns on the frontline

>The Archer
Well-versed in Japanese martial traditions, the archery club member is ready to wreck shit from far away

>The Club Leader
Her club's purpose is nebulous, ill-defined and changes from week to week, but her variety of talents and observational nature allows her to get past the front line undetected and make surgical strikes to sabotage the enemy

Last time I checked Akaiito, the english patch was incomplete, it only had the Uzuki and Yumei routes . Has anyone ever thought of continuing the project? I kinda wanted to do it, but I have no idea how to do it, really.
>>
>>2000838
Translation for Akai Ito had been near completed since 2009 (only the last part of Sakuya route untranslated). http://digitalmedia.arts.ufl.edu/~kmcgo/Akaiito/

I'm not aware of anyone making a patch for this game though. Something about nobody knows how to deal with the engine.

There is an english patch for this game (for Uzuki and Yumei routes), but it's incomplete. But since it exists, it means it's possible to do it, I just have no idea how to.
>>
>>2000849
Holy shit. Okay, after digging around I realized that Shizuka of old dear Wings of Yuri had resumed what she started in 2010 and dissed out a partial patch for Akaiito this Febuary.

>>
>>2000578
No. The ero scenes are short and not very well done. There's really no build up on the romance angle. There are references to sex with men, attempted rape, drug abuse, and numerous racial slurs. The game tries too hard to be edgy and comes off as ridiculous rather than funny.
>>
Translating an old PS2 game just seems to have "more trouble than it's worth" written all over it.

Akai ito doesn't even seem that good.
>>
>>2000860
Wow, I never knew about that, it seems they've made a lot of progress. They have my thanks.

>>
>>2000879

>>
>>2000870
There should be a limit to your shit taste, onee-san.

Akaiito is on par with Katahane, and IMO is better than Aoishiro. Although I love all 3 equally. There's no other series quite like Akaiito/Aoishiro within the yuri genre.

Unrelated: somebody in the last thread was asking if Akaiito is subtext, this should answer some of your questions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqLOgw7nYNQ

MC, Sakuya, Uzuki and Yumei are canon lesbians. Whether they get into a relationship with each other after the game ended or not, however, is up to your interpretation. The producer in an interview had also stated that the blood sucking scenes in both Akaiito and Aoishiro are meant as a substitute for sex scenes, to keep this under R18.
>>
>>2000629

I think we should add this >>2000860
to the paste bin, seems very relevant.

>>2000893
Gotta love the bloodsucking scenes.

I liked Aoishiro more, although I felt the story was short and kinda rushed when it got near the ending. I can understand why, since there are so many routes, it would be too much work to make them all longer.

lel all my Akaiito prints are in .bmp, RIP windows XP
>>
>>2000893
I read Aoi Shiro all the way through, and I enjoyed it. I love the setting and atmosphere, and while the writing is a bit spotty in places, it's nothing I can't forgive.

But at the same time, it's one of the most disappointing things I've ever read.
It's obviously advertised as yuri. Yuri is what they're going for here. It even has a route for every "love interest" character.

So why, seriously, fucking why, keep every relationship as subtext/"up to interpretation"?

>the blood sucking scenes in both Akaiito and Aoishiro are meant as a substitute for sex scenes, to keep this under R18.
See, this I can understand and to some degree get behind. Not ever VN needs to be explicit pornography.

However, it does not excuse not having any real kisses or love confessions.

jfc just thinking about this shit makes me angry.
>>
I was thinking about finishing Akaiito but I'm kind of a perfectionist so I'd want to go through the whole script and TL check it while I was at it.
What should I do /u/? Should I not bother and just finish up the untranslated stuff? Does anyone actually want to play it?
>>
>>2000911

I would probably play it.
>>
>>2000911
Do it for /u/.
Make yuri great again.
I've wanted to play it ever since my EOP ass finished Aoishiro.
>>
>>2000917
No, I'm just a translator. I wouldn't be able to do any of the technical shit, but it looks like Shizuka's got that figured out.
>>2000918
The whole thing though or just the last remaining bits?

The problem is I've got about twelve thousand other things I should be doing at the moment... Maybe I'll just flip through to see what some of the more terrible puns and things were translated as...
>>
>>2000924
I think you should only translate the rest of Sakuya's route for now, the rest of the translation is probably fine.

I don't know about Estival Versus specifically but generally all the games have had something to like, /u/-wise.

The games basically alternate between the actual game part of the game and a glorified VN with heavy amounts of character interaction, so it's not just "gotta ship something" you get out of, say, Smash Bros.
>>
>>2000908
True. If they rated it as yuri, why only keep it as subtext? Are they afraid that if it has explicit yuri, it will sell less?
>>
>>2000901
Stealth is already a niche filled by Club Leader.

Plus Capture the Flag-mode is a panty raid.
>>
>>2000911
I recommend getting into contact with Shizuka (the patch programmer) and see whether she's got any translator yet. At most, you only have to translate the remaining 2000 lines of the script.
>>
>>2000963

I found these "wound licking is disgusting" comments funny. When I first saw the poll choices, my immediate thought was something like this >>2001032

Do you find that cliche trope of sucking a cut finger disgusting too? Genuine question.
>>
>>2001251
>Do you find that cliche trope of sucking a cut finger disgusting too?
Unless the character is a vampire, I find it kind of gross. Kiss it better, sure. Sucking on it? Ew.
>>
>>2001251
I find it utterly useless and possibly potentially harmful.
Also, I'd freak out if somebody decided to suck on my finger all of a sudden. This is what band-aids are for, Jesus fucking Christ.
>>
For the people finding the wound licking so repulsive, would you feel the same way about having to clean up the aftermath of hymen tearing the same way?
I'm already planning to write a censored version on top of the original so I can just make it that she clears it up with a rag instead.

MangaGamer just released the results of the licensing survey that was taken earlier this year. Looks like there's gonna be a new SonoHana VN. I'm not sure if the others even have yuri content in it, but at least we got one.

http://blog.mangagamer.org/2016/03/07/2016-licensing-survey-results-and-some-hints-for-the-year-to-come/

The top license choices:

1. Rance Series ↑6

2. Baldr Series ↑1

3. Sono Hanabira Series NEW!

4. Dies Irae NEW!

5. Fate/Stay Night ↓4

6. White Album 2 ↑3

7. Shin Koihime Musou ↓1

8. Majikoi Series ↓6

9. Aiyoku no Eustia NEW!

10. Diabolik Lovers NEW!
>>
Being on that list doesn't mean anything about whether they'll actually do the game or not, it's just representing what people ASKED for.

So it doesn't matter whether all those games have yuri content or not, that's not a list of the ten next games they're doing.

However, since SonoHana ranked highly and they have an existing connection with that group, the odds are decent that they'll bring over at least one more game.
>>
>>2002832
>3. Sono Hanabira Series NEW!
So old series or New gen?
>>
>>2002861
The one I want to see the most, and would probably make the most sense at this point, would probably be https://vndb.org/v10700

Wouldn't make much sense to start bringing over the first 10 that are already translated by fans at this point.
>>
>>2002872
Best would be they make a deal to release the first 10 games, get in touch with the guys that did the translation of them come to an agreement, release it as a bundle and they start from Maidens of Michael onwards.
>>
>>2002872
Oh yes. True.
>>
>>2002880
Oh,this is even a better idea. Bundles with two games about each couple or one big bundle with 10 games. I can only dream.
>>
>>2002832
Fate has at least some Rin/Saber, but never gonna happen since that game's "too famous for its own good" as JAST put it. And Shin Koihime Musou has some yuri as well, but the license was previously said to be too expensive, but this was several years ago.
>>
>>2002888
Doesn't Koihime Musou VNs have a male MC?
>>
>>2002891
It does. As far as I remember, it's a generic "go to sleep, wake up, suddenly AU" story.
>>
How come no one talked about the Utena game that was translated like several months ago on the Saturn? Theres like 3 lesbian endings.
>>
>>2002888
>but never gonna happen since that game's "too famous for its own good" as JAST put it
Who cares, it has a more than decent fan translation.
Seriously, I don't see a point in licensing games that have been fan translated for years. Maybe for smaller, less known games it will give an influx of new players and money, but FSN? Rance, too, although as far as I remember, translators that were working on 5D and Rance Quest wanted their translations to become official and so they cooperated with Mangagamer, so that at least makes some sense.
>>
>>2002923
Its existence was mentioned in at least two threads, so I wouldn't say 'no one'. However, being old and for an obscure system, it didn't get flooded with excitement.

Having attempted to install one of the SonoHana games in the past and having entered my payment info into plenty of websites in the past I can tell you that you're explicitly wrong. Which still doesn't circumvent my desire to support the developers.

I'm sorry, how is it any different from buying a game?
>>
>>2002969
Mustn't have been patched at the time, because I clearly remember having to acquire the game and patch separately. After much googling I just decided to play something else instead.
>>
>>2002963
I can't find them on nyaa either.
>>
>>2002967
Pointless to continue the discussion with her, she's either trolling or wilfully obtuse.

SonoHana is better than some fantranslated series in that a fan *can* legally buy them off DLsite and get them running, but it's still a bit of a pain, particularly for casual fans who don't know all the places to get games or are not comfortable messing with locales. However, older games are harder sells (the earliest SonoHana games aren't that good anyway) and more of the potential audience has already played them.

For a game that you can put onto Steam, that's less of a big deal. The potential audience is so large that a few hardcore fans having already pirated the game is just a drop out of the bucket. For nukige, though...
>>
>>2002976
>Download non-patched game
>Download patch
>Install game
>Install patch
>Play
Maybe it's because I'm used to making old games work, but something like this doesn't seem too complicated to me to warrant paying for a translation when a fan translation is available.

>>2002978
Either you're looking for a really obscure game or your search skills are lacking.

The only SonoHana game I can find on it is Remembering How We Met. Which I bought.

But what you're also saying is that you'd rather pirate something than pay people for their hard work. gg as always pc master race.
>>
>>2002983
>you'd rather pirate something than pay people for their hard work
No, I'm saying that I'd rather use a translation available for free than pay for the same translation sold by a licensing company. It's like paying for somebody to fix my computer when I can do it for free with a little bit of tinkering.

>The only SonoHana game I can find on it is Remembering How We Met.
Because it's the only non-H game in the franchise.
Nyaa has a separate section for H-games.

>>

>Nyaa has a separate section for H-games.
Should've said "for NSFW content", as all hentai also goes there.
>>
>>2002983
You now you can go to the SonoHana thread on /u/ and easily download all the games patched right?
>>
>>2002986
I don't see you advocating what anon said above and buying them from DLsite either though.

>Nyaa has a separate section for H-games.
til
>>
>>2002989
You can now, the threads didn't used to be that organised. It's a couple of years since my last attempt to play them.
>>
>>2002981
I think you have to do more to get them to run on linux, so if the official translation comes with porting to a new linux-friendly engine (like remembering how we met), I'd pay for that.
>>
>>2002991
Why should I advocate anything? All I'm talking about here is that patching games is easy. How you acquire those games, whether you buy and download them or just pirate them is of no concern to me, and it doesn't affect the patching process in any way.
Unless the game has some fucked up DRM that makes it unplayable if you change game fiels, but so far I've never encountered anything like that.
>>
>>2002995
Because official translations also make it inherently simpler to buy the game and therefore contribute to the original devs, which was one of my points in my first post.
>>
>>2002983
>But what you're also saying is that you'd rather pirate something than pay people for their hard work.
They'll get my money when their games are available in english, not before.
>>

I don't see what this has to do with whether I'm "advocating" using DLsite or not.

so you basically advised me to pirate the games instead.

This whole tangent is stupid anyway. I think there would be value in them translating the earlier games. I would buy them if they did so. If not, well, I suppose we'll see what they licence in the end.

>so you basically advised me to pirate the games instead
I could've listed you any possible way you could acquire games, but I went for the one that would work with most VNs and would suit most people, considering you didn't specify what game you were talking about.
One of the advantages of piracy is that you can find everything you need in one place.

So yes, I guess I do advocate piracy here. Yarrr.

>I think there would be value in them translating the earlier games.
This whole discussion started with me saying that it would be pointless to translate already translated games, as the fan translation is already complete and has been around for years. People who want to support the devs can buy the original version if it's available for foreigners. If it isn't, devs probably hate getting profit with a passion.
Of course licensing untranslated games has value, this isn't even up to discussion.

>>2002994
Yeah, Linux users have it rough. You can fix it, but it requires fucking around with Wine or using a virtual machine.

>>
>>2003775
It's not like she was in a relationship with Nena, so that's not terribly surprising.
>>
>>2003748
>>2003752
Put things in perspective, anon. Counting Extra scenes, she has maybe two dozen-ish where she has a speaking role? Out of those, she has one scene where she talks about pure 2d/yuri-not-lesbians, and one scene where she does some "ship-teasing".

Neither of those things seem to inform her behavior much, hell, her forgetfulness and carefree attitude come up much more often. And, when Yuna is feeling down Ano shows legitimate concern, offering to help, and when Yuna finally takes her up on that offer, Ano takes the matter of Yuna and Hina's relationship seriously and gives serious, helpful advice.

Given that, it's not really that surprising that anons don't judge her based on what seem to essentially be two throw-away lines. They aren't major parts of her character and are difficult to take very seriously.

Hey guys, got a question regarding World's Dawn/Stardew Valley.
I'd like play at least one of them but since the days are only 24 hours long I'll probably have to limit it to just 1 period. Which one would you recommend? I know Stardew Valley is much more popular and seems to be more well received period but hearing an opinion from a yuri perspective would be nice. And, well, I'm interested in general gameplay remarks as well.

I have some previous Harvest Moon experience. What I usually disliked about the games is that as I started to make some money and thus was able to buy more seeds and whatnot I ended up spending more and more time cultivating my crops each (in game) day, even after upgrading my watering can and some other tools. It'd be much better if everything was somehow scaled to let the player spend roughly the same amount of time tending to the corps but getting better yield after they upgrade their stuff. So if either of those games has thought of that that'd be a massive positive for me.
Also in-game economy always needed some fixing, selling the same thing over and over and over again should yield diminishing returns. In fact this was so obvious to me that I'd be mildly surprised f the never implemented it in some newer entries in the franchise (which I can't really check out either way because no 3DS).

Also I'm secretly more of a Rune Factory person. While the farming aspect is pretty fun I enjoy the simplified RPG parts as well. I doubt this makes much of a difference in this case anyway but I figured I might as well mention it.

This is actually unrelated to my inquiry but since I'm already posting - together with /v/ we're making a roster that'll consist entirely of stuff from yuri-relevant games. Since you're experts on this subject we'd appreciate some input! Please refreain from responding in this thread however. http://piratepad.net/1g4yE56442

World's Dawn's gameplay is very limited because >RPG Maker.
You only get two small 5x4 plots, and you can own 4 chickens, 2 cows and a horse so you won't really spend much time farming(you can't chop wood or stuff).

I won't discuss things like mining and fishing, but it's all very simple and sometimes you won't know what to do with your time.

Your marriage candidates are 3 for each sex(you can choose which sex you're attracted to during character creation) and your interactions with them are mostly the same like for every villager, except you occasionally get some cut scenes, like when one of them confesses to you or during the special events if you invite them.
The three marriage candidates are a hillbilly, a bimbo and a nerd, in case you're wondering.

I really like the artstyle and the comfy atmosphere, but as for character interaction and gameplay, Stardew Valley is superior, albeit less relaxing, maybe. Just get the portraits/sprite mod and you're set.

Ouch, harsh! But it sounds true so thanks for your opinion. Score one for Stardew Valley I guess.

>your interactions with them are mostly the same like for every villager, except you occasionally get some cut scenes, like when one of them confesses to you or during the special events if you invite them
Isn't that just the normal deal for Harvest Moon (and clones) though? Is Stardew any different?

And yeah, World's Dawn appeal to me a bit more aesthetically/visually. I figured that might be just about it's only advantage over Stardew Valley, though.

Mangagamer interviewed eroge artist Shigeo Hamashima. Not really yuri related (in fact, not at all), but thought some of you might be interested regardless.

>>
>>2004781
I didn't mean to sound harsh, I just wanted to give my honest opinion about it. I still enjoy the game for what it is, and yeah, if you're not into pixel art I can see why you would choose it over SV.

>Isn't that just the normal deal for Harvest Moon (and clones) though? Is Stardew any different?
No, it's pretty much the same actually(give them gifts, especially on their birthday, complete quests that will make them happy, etc), however you can get 3-4 special cutscenes with each character, depending on the level of affection you've gained, which gives you a better understanding of each character.
Also, while WD has 3 bachelorettes, SV has 5, so yeah, more choice.

>>2004795
Who cares anyway? Not yuri related, it doesn't belong here.
>>
>>2004795
Well, if it means anything to you it's not like that interviews value decreased significantly over last year, just that some people might've already seen it.
>>
>>2004797
>I didn't mean to sound harsh, I just wanted to give my honest opinion about it.
Well, it didn't sound like you did it any injustice.

>if you're not into pixel art I can see why you would choose it over SV
I wouldn't label myself a pixel art enthusiast but it's not like I find it offputting either. I'm not exactly what you'd call a retro gamer but I play NES/SNES stuff fairly regularly so I can deal with looking at pixels just fine.
Out of those two I would probably prefer WD's artystyle but maybe its simplistic nature just makes it more accessible and I'll grow to appreciate SV more over time.

>No, it's pretty much the same actually(give them gifts, especially on their birthday, complete quests that will make them happy, etc
So just the usual Harvest Moon fare, I just found it a little surprising that you mentioned it in WD's context only since I expected both games to play like that.

>Also, while WD has 3 bachelorettes, SV has 5, so yeah, more choice.
More choice is good I guess, although I'd rather end up with 3 interesting bachelorettes than 5 bland ones. But your description of WD ones gives me a pretty good idea which game you prefer as far as this aspect is concered, heh.

But yeah, the way you describe it does make it feel like SV is clearly the superior choice so unless sombebody has the opposite view on this matter I'll just go with SV.
>>
>>2004812
>I just found it a little surprising that you mentioned it in WD's context only since I expected both games to play like that

Because it is slightly different: in WD you can bring them a gift every day(also, no birthday gift), and thanks to the villager register you know from the beginning the things they like(except for their favorite dish), while they'll politely refuse gifts they dislike, no bad feelings.

In SV you can only give them 2 gifts each week and the affection meter will decrease if you give them something they hate.
I don't know what happens if you maximize the friendship in WD, but I haven't gotten any special cutscenes so far.

>But your description of WD ones gives me a pretty good idea which game you prefer as far as this aspect is concered, heh
The three girls are cute, albeit a bit too stereotypical for me, so forgive me if I used a one-word description for them. It's not like in SV there are deep characters or anything, anyway.
>>
>>2004835

>In SV you can only give them 2 gifts each week and the affection meter will decrease if you give them something they hate.
I like the WD way more then, as it's easier to keep track of things if you can gift them stuff once a day - I'm already used to this formula since I've played Rune Factory/Harvest Moon before.
As for their favorites being hidden/known from the start the latter also sounds like a better solution. Point 'n' click adventure games taught me that 'try & die' is a crappy, annoying design choice. I'd rather feel dirty by looking up some guide to figure out what's a good gift and what's not rather than get annoyed at the trial and error process.

>The three girls are cute, albeit a bit too stereotypical for me, so forgive me if I used a one-word description for them.
Oh, it's more that 'hillbilly, a bimbo and a nerd' all have somewhat negative connotations so I figured you didn't care for them.
And yeah, I don't expect them to have rich personalities, most of those characters are one dimensional and based on a simple gimmick. If anything Rune Factory has taught me that the best bachelorettes are slightly insane (like everbody in RF3 - RAINBOW!).

Anyway, thank you for your time.
>>
>>2004842
>Oh, it's more that 'hillbilly, a bimbo and a nerd' all have somewhat negative connotations so I figured you didn't care for them
I'm still bitter about the fact that my favorite girls in game aren't romanceable options.

But yeah, choose whichever appeals to you the most, I think they're both valid games and I don't regret buying them. Hope my opinion was useful to you.
>>
>>2004845
>I'm still bitter about the fact that my favorite girls in game aren't romanceable options.
That's often the case with me and HM/RF.
For now I plan to give SV a shot (maybe later this week) and if I'll 'finish' it (not like you can really 'finish' that type of a game, can you) I might think of trying DW at some later time.
>>
>>2004846
>not like you can really 'finish' that type of a game, can you
Not sure about SV, but usually most HM clones "end" once you've completed all objectives and seen all cutscenes.
>>
>>2004874
Well, you can consider to have 'cleared' them but the game doesn't outright end and you can keep playing. That's more or less what I meant by 'finishing' it - it's not like there's a clear cut ending, you can keep playing well after the credits roll if you wish to.
>>
>>2004884
There are no objectives, however, or any goals to achieve. It's as much playing as starting up a game and staring at the title screen.
>>
>>2004886
The thing is I'd say in an average playthrough you'll spend more time farming than actively trying to achieve something to begin with. HM is not exactly a game you're going into with a 'I'm so gonna clear this game' mindset. And while there are no goals the game has decided for you you can always find some stuff you'd like to do, like getting x of each kind of crop or whatever.
Not like I really disagree with you though, just that HM is a pretty sandboxy game.
>>
>>2004893
>HM is not exactly a game you're going into with a 'I'm so gonna clear this game' mindset.
Try and stop me.
Seriously, though, for a sandboxy game HM follows some pretty strict rules. I remember fucking everything up when I first tried to play it without a walkthrough and missed 80% of events. Then again, I was young and dumb, so maybe I was just too stupid.
>>
>>2004898
>Try and stop me.
Nuh-uh, you can't do that young lady, you'll have to fight me IRL before I'll allow you to defile HM like that!
The cool thing about HM is that you can just play it the way you want to I guess.
This is getting less and less yuri related, isn't it. Let's cut it short here.

I bought Strawberry Vinegar on a whim when I saw it on Hella Yuri at the end of the last Steam sale, and just got around to trying it.

It's fucking adorable. I was expecting mostly food porn with some subtext from what I'd read, but it's pretty overtly (if innocently, considering their ages) romantic right from the start, without feeling like it stopped being a SoL.

Not massively long, maybe a four-hour read to see everything, but what there is is sugar-sweet.

This VN is supposed to have 3 males and 3 females as romance options, and, according to the devs, each of them has their own sexual preference(bi, straight, gay).
Looks like they even added another romance option now(the female AI), but no clue if it will be available for both male and female MC.

Innocent Grey has updated their site with a digital version of the pamphlet given out at GLF.

Potential spoilers for Aki-hen. Avoid if you want to go in to Aki blind.

http://www.gungnir.co.jp/lily/flowers3/download/FLOWERS3_pamphlet.pdf

There's a short story in there, giving us a first look at Yuzuriha's thoughts and feelings for Nerine. The story references the speech of Aristophanes from Plato's Symposium, and Yuzuriha reveals that she thinks of Nerine as her other half that would make her whole.

And if anyone has anymore doubt, based on the marketing choices thus far and the story above, the Sasaki sisters are most definitely the sub characters. There's no guarantee that Nerine will end up with Yuzuriha though. They both obviously have feelings for one another, but are so very afraid of destroying what they currently have.
