>>
>>87591916
a great stinking pile of shit
>>
>>87592060
What specifically did you not like about it?
>>
>>87592106
nothing. I haven't seen it. I just wanted to ruin your shitty subreddit
>>
I know im going to sound like a pleb but I was so confused during the whole episode, can somebody give me a quick rundown.
>>
>>87591916
I was hoping they wouldn't go the "left drumpf" route, and I'm still not sure they didn't. However, actually bringing back a character and making him further his plans was pretty good and goes against the "lol nihilism" shit the bad writers love to put out. Pretty good episode over all, and a decent sequal to one of the better episodes of the series.
>>
Best episode of the series to be honest.
>>
This was the first episode of the season that had balls. They tried something new and it worked really well imo. Compared to Pickle Rick which is essentially the opposite of doing something new and aims solely to capture the tiny rick/get schwifty meme audience.
>>
>>87592883
>>/gaiaonline/
>>
>>87591916
Was this episode structured around the wire? It seems like every season of the wire was represented in one of the plotlines.

Season 1 -> Cop Morty and Cop Rick, fairly obvious
Season 2 -> blue collar factory workers (not a perfect fit for the dockworkers in S2, but pretty good)
Season 3 -> Evil Morty's candidacy, running as a morty in a town where only Ricks become leader (like CIA becoming a white mayor of Baltimore)
Season 4 -> The Morty school
Season 5 -> Occassional news reports about what was happening by those anchorman Ricks
>>
Just so you know, this episode was written by a woman.
>>
>>87593564
Thought the same.

Ryan Ridley isn't a woman. Also he's the true genius behind all of this show's best episodes.
>>
>>87593367

the pickle rick episode was pretty good until he left the sewer
>>
>>87593367
>This was the first episode of the season that had balls.
Very well put. Even the humor seemed to push it in all the right places. The quick pacing works so much better when the jokes are actually good.
>>
>>87593586
I don't give a damn if the writer is male or female as long as they can write the show well. The problem is the female writers this season were diversity hires and didn't actually have the necessary skills. If anything they only made the issue worse by virtue signalling about it.
>hire a bunch of shitty writers because they're female
>brag about sticking it to the sexists
>sexists retaliate by claiming the female eps will be shit
>female eps end up being shit because they hired females instead of writers
>sexists get the justification they wanted
>now there's more hate for female writers more than before

Anyway, this episode was written by a dude.
>>
>>87591916
>everyone screaming "DRUMPF REFERENCE, DRUMPF REFERENCE"

Fuck off. It was literally just your typical "bad guy pretends to be a good guy running for a position of power, then reveals his true nature once he gains everyone's trust" scenario.
>>
>>87592909
the episode is about how the citadel is rebuilding itself after rick destroyed it, oh and evil morty is elected president of the citadel
>>
it was a family guy like episode where they use plots from movies to make an episode
>>
>>87593564
Season 3 was the Stanfield / Barksdale War resulting from the release of Avon, the burners, and the tale of Cutty.
>>
>>87591916
The only good episode this season.
>>
>>87594750
>>87593564
And by this I mean that Season 4 was where CIA ran for mayor, he was only introduced toward the end of Season 3 as a councilman.
>>
Why am I supposed to give a fuck about a citadel full of random ricks and mortys that they've blown up and killed a million times over?
And did anyone seriously not see this coming?
From the first scene with evil morty in it I knew it was evil morty.
And I'm so tired of shitty parodys.
Stand by me, oh how funny.
Training day oh how funny.

Shit episode. Only laugh I had was the second ad for those rick snacks.
>>
>>87594635
this, if anything President Morty is more like Obama anyway. Plus it's not like the Ricks were being portrayed in a positive light either. Not everything needs to be some direct Trump reference just because an election is involved.
>>
>>87594635
wouldn't that morty be more of an obama reference, given the black/white analogy of the episode, if anything?
>>
It was a 10/10 episode to be honest. I really havent liked a single episode of season three up till tonight. But this one was meseeks 2.0

It truly was a great episode
>>
What the fuck is the point of a character show if you're just going to have every joke be about how the alternate versions of those characters don't act like them? Shit episode, shit season.
>>
So the President Morty is the Evil Morty from Close Rick-counters of the Rick Kind right?
>>
>>87594918
What's that even supposed to mean?
>>
>>87594918

>>
>>87594840
>And I'm so tired of shitty parodys.
Fucking seconded. That Mad Max shit earlier was so half-assed. If I wanted unfunny parodies I'd watch SNL.
>>
>>87594993
Yes.
>>
>>87594998
>What's that even supposed to mean?
The fuck do you think? The punchline in every scene was, "Haha, these Ricks are different from the main Rick, and these Mortys are different from the main Morty."

>>87594999
I'm sure you don't have to try too hard.
>>
>>87594993
Yes. It confirms it at the end. Look at the photos floating next to that dead Morty.
>>
Do you think that campaigh manager morty trying to assassinate evil morty was a set-up planned by evil morty to gain sympathy to get him elected? Because Trench Coat Rick was floating amongst the dead Ricks and Mortys ejected into space.
>>
>>87595044
That wasn't the punchline of any joke in the episode.
>>
>>87595090
Or you know because he set up an assassination plot
>>
The Simple Rick wafer plot was perfect.
>>
>>87595090
Could be that Evil Morty also knew about Trench Coat Rick and killed him too.
>>
>Hes not my Rick.. he's my parter.. aw geez
when I knew it was going to be a good episode. also simple rick managed to be the hilarious joke that pickle rick tried to be with like a tenth of the effort/hype
>>
>>87595091
>That wasn't the punchline of any joke in the episode.
It was the joke every time a new Rick or Morty was introduced.
>haha, it's cool rick! it's like if rick was cool xP
>lmao slick morty? man where do they come up with this?
>holy...f-f-f-FAT MORTY?!?!?! genius
>>
>>87595153
You couldn't even name a single example.

Regarding Fat Morty, the joke isn't "Haha look, it's a fat version of Morty." The joke is that he thought he was left-handed Morty, but he's actually a fatass. Regarding Cool Rick, the joke isn't "Haha, look, it's a cool version of Rick." The joke is that all the hardworking factory line Ricks got passed over just because he's cool.

These aren't even subtle jokes but somehow I have to explain them to you.
>>
>>87593012
>Trump is accidentally so similar to Hitler you can't tell if a show is parodying one or the other
Really gets the noggin' joggin'.
>>
>>87591916
so that's 3 episodes in a row that were written by men and were great... well ep 6 was just ok, but still better then average of the rest of S3.

Does anybody else think that maybe Dan and Justine made a deal that Dan's shitty women hires would helm the first half of the season, and the regulars would handle the second half? Keep in mind the rumors of tension between Justine and Dan before the season premiere.
>>
>>87595212
The point is that every joke needed a new character created so that it would make sense. That's forced and lazy writing. They should just admit that they're out of ways to make the main characters funny.
>>
>>87595153
He named 3 examples that were in the show and then elaborated on his point. How did you miss that?
>>
>>87594840

Episode blended well and I loved the Wire Morty

the oh Geezes were great and the Evil Morty monologue was kino

I enjoyed it
>>
>>87595341
A bunch of new characters based on the old ones was the episode's premise, not some last ditch effort to come up with new material. Also:

>ambitious episode that tries something completely new
>LAZY WRITING LAZY WRITING LAZY WRITING
>>
>>87595351
Because that's not what the punchline was in each of those scenes. Nobody was supposed to laugh just upon seeing Slick Morty. The mere existence of the characters isn't the punchline of those jokes.
>>
>>87595153
This meme comes from their mobile game. They're going to continue to push random ricks and mortys so they can make more money on their game.

At least this episode was better than the fucking retarded toxin episode where morty was ripped away from an awesome life for no discernable reason.
>>
The only good episode in s3 and it also happens to be the only 10/10 episode of the entire series.
>>
>>87595398
Was the punchline that they acted exactly as you'd expect given their archetypes?
>>
>>87595042
>>87595051

Thanks, I was only paying half attention I'll rewatch.
>>
>>87595378
>A bunch of new characters based on the old ones
That's exactly what I was refuting in my original post. They're not based on the old ones if they're just act archetypal. You could have replaced Rick and Morty with anyone else and the writing would have been identical.
>>
>>87595399
Agreed, that was the nadir of the season.
>>
>>87595044
>The fuck do you think?
I think your post reads like a trauma victim, and that your point was lost in your terrible wording, which is why I asked you to explain it better.

>>87595153
>>87595341
Aside from the fact that you're cherrypicking, what the fuck are they supposed to do? Have every single Rick and Morty be exactly the same as the originals?
>>
The only thing I'm excited for is actual tension again.
When rick got tossed in super max galactic prison I thought maybe that would be a major plot point in the show but it wasn't even a speed bump. After they spent what, like 3 or 4 episodes on that whole ordeal in the last season I thought maybe we'd see how they got out of it but they just blew through it like it didn't matter and so far we've had nothing but pointless filler episodes since.
Plus ricks revenge or lack thereof on the government and those who wronged him and killed bird person never happened.
Still waiting for phoenix person and tammy to appear.
Now that evil morty is back maybe the narrative can move forward but I doubt it.
>>
>>87595527
>I think your post reads like a trauma victim
I guess that's how bad the episode was.

>Aside from the fact that you're cherrypicking, what the fuck are they supposed to do? Have every single Rick and Morty be exactly the same as the originals?
How about ditch the idea entirely and write a funnier episode?
>>
>>87592106
>political lefty commentary
>awfully obvious "twist"
>no jokes at all
>le epic meta commentary
It was shit like all Reddick and Memety episodes
>>
the only thing i didn't like about it is how rushed the narrative felt, otherwise the episode really surprised me, i didn't expect it to get as dark as it was
>>
>>87595592
What leftist commentary was there? I only remember the joke about the black teens and the police gala or whatever, but that wasn't really opinion based, black teens hate cops.
>>
>>87595399
>At least this episode was better than the fucking retarded toxin episode where morty was ripped away from an awesome life for no discernable reason.
The reason in the episode was pretty clear. Good Rick felt responsible for toxin R&M and didn't want them to lose parts of themselves. After he rejoined he probably wanted to fuse Morty back together because he cared for Toxin Morty, and more importantly he probably just wanted his Morty back.

There were some weird issues with the logic, but I think it rested more on the conclusion that the toxin versions were what Rick and Morty interpreted as their bad sides. If that were the case, good Rick likely wouldn't be empathetic at all and toxin Rick would be an idiot.
>>
>>87595592
>political lefty commentary
How so?

Also this episode is great because of how much world building in managed to pack in less than a half hour. There's a fucking thread right now about economy in screen writing and here you go man, this would be an example of an extremely economical script.
>>
>>87595592
gimme your analysis senpai, really looking forward to it.
>>
You guys realize that they'll avoid mentioning everything that has happened in this episode except the Atlantis stuff for like 2 years and then scrap it all for a dumb gag just like they did with the first council right?

Don't get your pickle dicks too hard there won't be any serious plot progression or worldbuilding.
>>
>>87595695
This season finale is called The Rickchurian Mortydate, which seems like a pretty clear follow-up to this.
>>
Liberal agenda is starting the show in this episode. Its painfully obvious the narrative they are going with. FIgures since Turner owns CNN as well.

>>
>>87595740
Haha fuck reddit!
>>
>>87595695
yeah I dont doubt that. like whatever that morty campaign manager saw in the envelope that made him try to assassinate candidate, Im sure that even the writers have no idea what that is, and they don't know where they are going with that sub plot. it was still a funny episode

That's the point though. That's why all these shows pretending what you said is true are really cringe. It just shows liberals fears of the far right and ignores the fact that Trump is just a liberal from 20 years ago. He doesn't have some big fascist plan, he thought he could help the country but didn't realize how different being a politician and being a businessman would be. He's Reagan 2.0, there were liberals screeching about him being Hitler too, but he only furthered the establishments plans.
>>
Fucking incredible, I know that this sounds like an insult. But this episode felt longer than 30 minutes. That was probably the best episode of television i've seen this year. That may have been the best Rick and Morty episode ever made.
Holy. Fuck.
They balanced three narratives as well as they possibly could and delivered a fucking astounding conclusion. Not only that, though, they balanced three narratives from a critical standpoint, as well. A base narrative, a secondary narrative, and a meta-narrative. The base being the story we saw, the secondary being the parallels to race relations in the U.S, and the third being the criticism of serialization vs. episodic storytelling.
This all culminated in the return of Evil Morty (the music being the immediate give-away) and the establishment of not only a new arc, but also a new narrative structure for the series.
I get that the "depth" of this show has become a meme and is hard to comment on due to it being said meme. But I wasn't expecting Rick and fucking Morty to deliver the best narrative of the year when Game of Thrones just finished airing.
Bravo, team, bravo. This was an awe-inspiring episode in an already outstanding season.
Thank you.
>>
Evil morty=Rick c137's maybe original morty. I say maybe because Rick might have landed in the wrong dimension( science is art not a lot of people know that) and fucked up evil morty to the point that evil morty would want to murder c137 in a grandiose way. The final battle will be the mortiset morty( baby picture morty, our morty) against evil morty. Evil morty knows Rick couldn't stand a morty too big for his britches. Sorry I'm drunk and I get weird and sentimental but Rick c137 may die

So many questions
Why do the ricks need money to rebuild the Citadel? Aren't they completely self-sufficient?
Why are there ricks performing laborous tasks like pressing buttons on an assembly line? How the fuck have they not built robots to do that?
Couldn't assembly-line Rick just... build a portal gun and go home? Why is he stuck in a job he doesn't like?
Don't most Ricks and Mortys still go on adventures? Isn't that the whole point of pairing up Ricks and Mortys? Why are some of them acting like they've never left the Citadel in their lives?
Why is creating Portal fluid considered a crime? And how did that Rick fail at making it? They're all equally smart.
Why are Mortys not sent home when they have no Rick? What's the point in keeping them in their own district of the Citadel?
Campaign manager Morty is a fucking idiot. Why didn't he just expose Evil Morty, instead of trying to assassinate him? Why didn't detective Rick do that?
Speaking of which, how the hell do photos of evil Morty prove that President Morty is evil Morty? Most Mortys look exactly alike. There's no proof (to them) that president Morty is Evil Morty.

I know this is probably going to get flammed to hell because this board is such a circlejerk but what the hell. I was really excited for the Atlantis adventure! While I still think the episode was an interesting idea that was relatively well executed it still had the issue that this whole season has had for me: it doesn't feel like Rick and Morty. This episode felt like Bojack Horseman, and while I love that show and the way it mixes political commentary with dark humor so well, I don't feel like that's what Rick and Morty is/should be/is best at. The best RaM episodes by far are where Rick and Morty go on a whacky adventure. That's why I got hyped because I thought they were literally poking fun at the fact that the episodes so far had been way more serious/followed way more of a story arc than the last two seasons and they were going to do a "self-contained adventure" just like they used to.

Holy shit, President morty had so many scenes that instantly triggered my memories to how Hitler took power.
Flamboyant personality and a eloquent speaker whose every word inspires people.
Most are frenzied by Pres Morty as few knows the horror that will befall but their words fall on deaf ears. Once in office, Night of the Long Knives get rid of potential political opponents and old powers. The fucking banner dropping over the building sealed the connection.
The writers never cease to amaze me as they never get caught up in just one developement of story in one episode. Cop rick/morty, pres morty, factory Rick, and ofc our average rick and morty that has no idea what it happening on the other end of the universe.

This episode definitely shows how woke Justin Roiland is. I mean everything in this episode is similar to what goes on in our society every day.
--You have the corrupt shadow government ran by billionaires controlling the president until morty decides to kill them. --You have the evil morty posing as a guy who cares about the people just to get elected in order to enforce his own corrupt agenda(like Most politicians). --You have the morties killing morties similiar to blacks killing blacks in the U.S. --You have Ricks killing Morties just like Cops and the people in the U.S. --You have brainwashing of education just like in the U.S. -- You have a society unhappy with their daily lives because they are all basically slaves to some billionaire(just like in the U.S.) --You have the Government pinning the people against each other because they are scared their agenda of greed would be toppled if the people worked together.(Just like in the U.S. right now.) --You have the General Rick instilling fear into the people in order to win an election and cause society to dump even more of their hard earned money into the government and military industrial complex.(Just like in the U.S. and trump.) --You have cops getting paid off. -- People being dumbed down and distracted from what is really going in the government. --Commercials focussing on emotions to get people to buy the trash and feed more money into the corrupt system.
I mean the list could go on. The creators really did an excellent job of summing up the current state of just about everything going on in The United States of America right now. Yeah the episode had a lot of funnies but I dont really think that was Justins aim for this episode. He wanted to wake people up a little bit.

What I don't understand is:

If Rick's are all so smart, why do some of them work low-level jobs in a factory? Chalk it up to infinity?

Also, if our Rick is the Rickest Rick for not joining the citadel, and there are infinite versions of reality, is it safe to say that there are other Rick and Mortys outside the citadel? Are they Rickier than the citadel Ricks?

So. Conceptual...! But fuck if it wasn't an amazing time that made me aware of my relative lack of talent!! So good!

That was hands down the best Rick and Morty episode I have ever seen. It gave viewers of this show exactly what we like --- violence, dark humor, and absurdity. All the same, the show successfully picked up a few storylines, advanced them in a way that was not slow but not too fast either, and resolved them each individually with a different lesson on society whether it be about the state of our politics and how to control it, class tension in society, racial tension in society, etc. They provide all the fantastic elements of the show, provide a twist, provide multiple philosophical lines and or monologues that make you think, and squeeze all that action and philosophy into 20-30 minutes.

What a masterpiece this show is. I already knew it, but tonight's episode just proved how fantastically clever the show writers are.

they aren't. at one point in the episode, during evil morty's debate/speech thing, evil morty states every rick has identical IQ. two people with the same IQ (it is just a number) can have different areas of expertise. meanwhile, in the same episode, there is "slow rick-i mean tall morty," proving that every rick having identical IQ isn't true. it should also be noted that we know for a fact different ricks have different personalities, and despite the supposed same IQ across ricks, personality differences will drive inequality. literally anything that can cause any inequality will be focused in on and maximized. the question about them being in low level jobs is, why did they not just automate everything?

But... Does someone unironically think that it's... "smart" or "intelligent"? Do some people really think that nihilism schtick is somewhat originial? That you need high IQ to understand this flick?

1. It didn't have a plot, just worldbuilding
2. It wasn't an adventure
3. Tried to be about drama, but there were no characters, just cardboard cutouts
4. Everything was predictable, even the jokes
5. Only interesting thing is the promise of more evil morty. This episode was just a 20 minute trailer. The last evil morty episode was a good episode in itself.
6. Education morties had nothing remotely interesting to it. Just filler.
7. Factory rick had nothing interesting to it. More filler.
8. Cop Rick is probably necessary to have someone who will fight evil morty, but otherwise mostly filler
9. What you're left with is a flat and uninteresting politics plotless story that can be condensed to 4 minutes.

At the start:"You're trying to sell policeball tickets to a black teenager" as an example of an impossible sell.

It struck me as incredibly racist to black teenagers that weren't thugs would be watching and told that they would never appreciate or support police.

But it fits the whole blackliesmatter myths that cops just care about killing blacks, so they feel validated.

You know how I know Rick & Morty is a truly intelligent show? The fact that it gets talked about more than almost any other program here on /tv/. If it were just some dumb cartoon people would say "that's dumb" and then move on with their lives. The quantity and intensity of the discussion here are the proof that it's a high-concept, intellectual entertainment experience that flies over the heads of the easily-aggravated bottom feeders who can't or refuse to grasp the importance of the social commentary being delivered. This show defines the time better than any other and those who don't get it are being left behind and replaced like the archaic relics they are.
>>
>>87598020
Not really. You're watching it from your own perspective. From your own perspective you can contextualise anything as redpill (as we always consider ourselves mostly redpill) and anything that deviates is stupid and therefor not redpill and therefor a redpill by showing that deviations are stupid.

Instead you have to look at how people from different world views would view it.

This episode perpetuates the idea that black teenagers and cops can't get along, that very talented people would work in factories, that schools are mostly brainwashing into subservience.

I consider the last somewhat true for the US, but that's my point: you have to strip the ideas presented, look at how accurate they are and use that to judge.
>>
>>87598188
Trump was the only choice for candidate if you had any understanding of politics.

definitely disagree, one of the things that makes great tv great is fast pacing with a lot packed into a small amount of time. that isn't to say I prefer rushing, but when i think of the better simpsons episodes, for example, you couldnt go five seconds without a top tier joke made of several other jokes at once

>>
>>87598265
>>87598348
The toxicity shit works on the basis of the individual's perception of toxicity. The toxic part of Rick wants to inflict his traumatic experiences on others, like being forcefully separated from all the best parts of yourself or, if you prefer, being stuck in a toxic hellhole in general.

The Christians became homosexual orgiestic atheists because that was their personal version of toxicity, just like the people eating salads ran into the fast food joint and the one in the fast food joint just started eating out of the garbage.

You guys are focusing your lens too hard, you're forgetting the narrative context.

They had their portal guns taken away. It's a major theme running through the episode and referenced in at least 3 different situations:

>evil morty explicitly saying ricks had their portal guns taken away
>>
>>87598428
Using /tv/ to gauge whether or not something is good is the dumbest thing you could do. /tv/ exists only to hate things that are popular. To poke holes in the cultural Zeitgeist that they are outcasts of.

The self-identified toxic part of Rick.

I mean that episode was flawed in thinking through the toxic part.

The toxic part of rick is a scientific genius and has a passion for it and the healthy part of Rick doesn't, and is also naive?

I find it hard to believe Rick views himself that way.

Also, neither seem to be fun/party loving. In fact that seems to be gone from his personality after S03E01. Guess he did need those improv routines.
>>
>>87598260
The vehicle for the attention in that case would be nuclear weapon.

The vehicle for rick and morty to grab attention is words, sounds and images.

People are spending hours talking and arguing about a string of words, sounds and images. So there must be something there.

This happens in a context. One reason it's generating so much attention is that the show is having a rocky season. So the discussion is fueled by people who love to hate rick and morty coming out of the woodwork, rallying those who are on the fence about it and those who loved it, against those who defend it regardless of how shit it's becoming.

The fact that this episode was actually pretty good is prolonging this battle. The show still has a heart beat, but I think many of the fans consider it on life support. Another two episodes as bad as 2 or 3 or 4 may cement this opinion. It's frustrating to love a thing and watch it be butchered.

>>
>>87598503
Yeah I agree. But still, when liberals are praising something, that can turn you off to it. They praised Bill Nye's show for instance. Those types praising something triggers that part of my brain that says, "Oh, if they like it, then it must be stupid, lifeless, cringy, pandering bullshit with no substance and a faux morality wielded like a club against ideological enemies". And this happens for things on the right as well. If those guys praise something, like MDE, then I think the same thing. It's a helpful way to navigate the world with so much content and so little time. But in this case, rick and morty has done too much good stuff in the past to prevent me from forming my own opinion.
>>
>>87598744
You mean the disagreement over the episode is prolonging the battle.

This is just "did you see a blue or gold" dress. That's not proof of intelligence, that's just seeing something different.

And that may well be because either side is stupid and just lack the perspective to see it.

Since good or bad is subjective, it's not worth talking about. But the episode wasn't intelligent in any way. Please describe what was intelligent about this episode.

Sheer amount of content. Ten minutes in felt like a long time.

Simple Rick commercial and twist at the end

Cop Morty

Good atmosphere and environment

Great architecture and pacing

Lots of interesting scenes: cop morty's shooting at each other, candidate morty killing oligarchs, cop morty talking to street mortys, cop mortys ending up shooting each other. Virtually every scene packed into this episode is interesting/funny in some way, except for the school morty's which were pretty dumb

Bad stuff:

1) Ham-fisted writing at some points, reducing political complexities of constructing and navigating a self-reliant hierarchy to "Big bad gov't gone and dun them pples wrong, baka senpai, what about dem workers"

2) Underwhelming staying power of certain scenes due to brevity, rushed/incomplete feeling at certain moments, especially the debate and candidate morty's assassination, and with the school morty's entire plotline... speaking of which

3) the entire school morty's plotline, dialogue and characters.

cop morty says "... no Ricks, no familys" so maybe the mortys that are in the citadel either had their world/family destroyed or really want to go on adventures, but aren't cut out to be sidekicks so they rebel
That Rick failed to make the portal fluid because he was high as fuck
Your last two questions kinda contradict each other, it can only be one or the other, but i don't know the answer

>Lots of interesting scenes: cop morty's shooting at each other, candidate morty killing oligarchs, cop morty talking to street mortys, cop mortys ending up shooting each other. Virtually every scene packed into this episode is interesting/funny in some way

Holy fuck, people like you exist. Basic dirty cop threatens perp is interesting/funny?

Dr evil, I mean morty killing underlings is interesting?

It was all so formulaic and predictable. Where is Morty being raped on a toilet scene? Paying schmeckels for a fucking slugride?

It may have been dumb shock humor mostly, but at least it had jokes.

Now every rick and morty discussion will be about politics and it won't even be interesting mostly, because it didn't bring any new ideas.

To be fair, you're referencing one of the greatest episodes of the show. We are in the dark times of the show. I'll take anything that just makes sense and tries to be funny.

yup now that i think about it, it could be, because nobility doens't mean castles and "my family is rich". instead it means "I enjoy a higher social status" but still it would seem that racial commentary is far more likely with all the other references (the cop storyline being the most obvious one). Also pic related

Yeah I'd agree with that, but it certainly applies to other social class distinctions as well. It's not just about disparity between equals but between two types of groups who are very different living as equals despite obviously not being equal to eachother in any way.

I've seen very few race-based plot points that do it as tastefully as this.

True dat.

I'm just hoping for a sketch episode, it would at least bring something funny. Or heck, I think I would prefer a callback episode. "Remember that time when rick kicked morty". Would still be better than this tripe.

Now that I think about it, this feels exactly like that kinda episode.
