To the people who might have been confused by the end or think there's plot inconsistencies, while I won't go into any theories specifically or deny and criticism. I think it's important to understand several parallels drawn by David Lynch and where he took inspiration from to truly get what he was going for. I'm not going to explain any theory in and of itself, but I will try to lay a general line of thinking out on the table. There's a clear inspiration taken by Lynch from a certain genre of anime, in particular the likes of Angel Beats (2010) and Charlotte (2015). Both heavily criticized for doing the exact same thing Twin Peaks did but it really does all fit together well if you're of an high IQ enough to understand and appreciate this type of story. I know this might come of as unbelievable but there's many similarities here and if you want a less complex version that might help you understand the Season 3 Finale of Twin Peaks I think it's best to have seen the aforementioned shows. They might be a little rough, and things might seem odd. But that's exactly why it compares so well to Twin Peaks. You can see, going from the first to the second show the time that has passed in real time reflects within the show itself. It's a rollercoaster ride much like Twin Peaks was (is? season 4?) and will likely help you answer many of the problems you might have had with the ending of the third season of Twin Peaks. They're diamonds in the rough. But at the end of the day you can better understand Lynch as a person, a creator if you have seen the works so brilliantly parodied by him.

If you've got 10 hours of free time you can understand Twin Peaks just so much better by consuming these 2 shows. Thank me later.

Just a few jumbled thoughts:
Mother and Giant are opposites, existing in their plane in balance. trinity explosion allows mother to birth evil into earth (different realm/dream? perhaps in the sense it can be manipulated). mike wants his garmonbozia, to stop rogue bob (((But why does he say "she" was mad about him stealing the corn? it doesn't seem bob is rogue from mother))) Meanwhile, to restore balance, fireman creates Laura to be killed and start the process of stopping bob. coop is swept up in the process, ends up in the lodge and his doppelgänger is used by bob to continue running amok. To fix things, mike helps release coop while the fireman gets green glove and now the final showdown is set. It happens and bob is defeated, cutting off mother from the earth plain. (I guess the woodsman have no power, only there as workers?). Coop, like the others that have interacted with the lodge, can and does transcend the plane afterwards. He is reunited with Jeffries (presumably good?) who, alongside mike, get him back to save Laura. (Not sure why, maybe because bob is destroyed, meaning no matter earthly timeline, he is no longer present. Thus they want to prevent suffering and take Laura to the white lodge.) But before this can happen, in a final act, mother take Laura and puts her in a false reality. The giant prepped coop for this and he enters and wakes Laura up. Laura wakes up the morning she should have been found dead, her past pain is gone, Leland is not bob. We can assume upon completion, coop exits the reality and exists maybe in the white lodge, waiting to see Cole and crew at the curtain call, death, escape from the earth plane. This does leave some questions though.

There is something very odd about the gap between 17 and 18 as far as production and editing goes. Them recapping cooper losing track of Laura in the woods is uncharacteristic of TP, and its even more odd since these two episodes were released together. That's the sort of reminder that you would see after a seasonal gap, not 5 minutes of intro. I think there were last minute structural changes to the ending, even down to the release schedule

So what was the significance of Laura's Red Room scene in the beginning? Obviously "I'm dead, yet I live" was a reference to Carrie, but what was with the scream and disappear like Diane's tulpa? Just to foreshadow her scream at the end?

Part of what I am learning from Ep 17 is that the chronology is how the scenes are laid out in the episode, and not what time period it takes place in.

1. Jeffries sends Cooper back to FWWM, and Cooper meets Laura in the woods.

2. Pete goes fishing and finds no body (S1E1)

3. Sarah Palmer (S3 era) gets upset and smashes a picture of Laura

4. Cooper is walking with Laura, and Laura screams and disappears

Clearly Judy/Sarah snatched Laura back since it realized the timeline change... even though these scenes are supposed to be 25 years apart they happen in order.
