Lynch has no plans to do Season 4. If it does happen, it'll probably happen without him and end up being a mess akin to Season 2 post-Leland's murder.

Realistically, as sad as it is to think about, The Return may very well be Lynch's last contribution to cinema/television.

Some scenes don't make sense until maaaany episodes later, and only if you were really paying attention. /tpg/ is, for me, an integral part of the experience.

I pretty much agree especially after seeing an old David Lynch painting that has a weird face and the caption 'Face talking about Billy'. It's probably an artistic tick he developed a liking for, the idea of someone or a group of people talking about 'Billy' and it never being clear who or what Billy is. This is used throughout the show this year for comedic, confusing, atmospheric effect about a number of things. I guess it really BEGAN with the fat dog lady in part 1 listing off all the people in her life before helping the police open Ruth's apartment.

I had forgotten about that. Let me do some thinking here.

Before Cooper's reappearance (before episode 3), there are two bodies. Cooper and Dougie. One of them is the dopplegänger with reversed fingertips.

Then Cooper comes back. While doing so, both Earthly Coopers go through some tension. Whichever body loses, Cooper inhabits. He could be inhabiting the original body (fatter) or the doppleganger's. He goes back.

At this point there should be three bodies, but one of them (the one that was wearing the ring) goes to the lodge and is replaced by Cooper's body, his mind still muddy after 25 years of non-existance.

It appears that now the jolt of electricty will bring the Cooper we know and love, and maybe he will explain something to us.
