In the world of the show, so much pain and suffering comes about from the actions of men.

Dougie is one such. A small example, apathetic almost, but his neglect, womanising, gambling and selfish attitude to his family have been overturned since his actual annihilation and Cooper stepping into his shoes. This is really the main story this season is telling with him. Everything from this point on is wrapping up loose mythological ends with regard to Coop's role in the previous seasons/movie.
