There's a podcast where Karl talks about how ashtrays relieve his stomach pains because they "hold cold" and Ricky and Steve mishear him and make fun of his "Old cold belly badness" idea.

Season 1 and Early Season 2 of the XFM shows were the best. They still felt like friends. Later on it's just insults and bile towards each other, becomes uncomfortable to listen to. All three of them are guilty of it. Karl's invalid comment especially.

There's the lighthouse one, about if it's turned off during the day.
The one I hated the most was the Gremlins one. They're talking about Mowgli, Karl goes "what were those things in Gremlins called?" (obviously thinking of mogwais), and Gervais makes a big deal out of it since he believes Karl's thinking about gremlins. He gets corrected later on, but quickly ignores it.
Then much later, he goes "that's the stupidest thing you've ever said, next to 'what were those things in Gremlins called?'".

I get that they're trying to create comedy from what's being said, but this is just being a fucking idiot.

I discovered these shows around 08/09 I think, used to have them on in the background when I played WoW. I have listened to them all multiple times over, and I can still stick them on now and be amused. it's true that it's such a shoddily produced show but their chemistry is so good it doesn't even matter.

plus karl is a bit more genuine in the XFM shows. obviously he isn't a character but he does play up a bit in the TV shows and later podcasts

Love an XFM thread. It's been a good one, /tv/, sleep tight.

My comfiest gaming experience ever was when I was trying to grind out a 100% conquered playthrough in Mount and Blade Warband which required endless hours of constant siege battles so I would just put on those hours long compilations of Steve and karl arguing. It was the best.

XFM is pure audio kino. I think it's because it so strongly simulates what it's like to have a great group of friends constantly riffing with eachother. They don't have any respect for the show they are doing whatsoever so it comes off so totally loose as if you literally just recorded them having a conversation rather than presenting.

I wonder if Ricky knows that the XFM shows are by far the best thing he has ever done.
