There are no limits (except the story must be at least 1 word long, and preferably not in excess of 10,000, it's short fiction you fuck).

No, but in a lot of science fiction, the method of transportation that a teleporter uses is copying the original, then destroying the original. It's a philosophical point to be made though. If all the atoms get recycled in your body, so none are the same as the original set of atoms that you were made of... are you the same person? If a copy is exactly the same, even at a subatomic level... is there a difference? I don't think anyone has much of an answer. However, if you believe in a 'soul', then yes. The Doctor is not the original any more

Okay, you had a few questions.

Ratings are down both long term, and short term. its down over 40 percent from the Tennet era, but even year to year it is down.

For example, the consoldiated ratings (which includes online and so on) have gone from 7.5 million to 5.6 million in one year, that is really bad.

The issue is that shows like Casualty and Pointless Celebrities are beating dr. who, and they are MUCH cheaper shows to produce.

The main reason why the BBC loves it is that it helps them meet the unoffical quotas that each area of the UK get BBC production money. As they will try to give the old cash cow one more try instead of canceling it and making 5-6
"hinderlands" which have less appeal.

I just finished the Second Doctor era, and the first serial I was not feeling the new wacky Doctor. I now understand that was just how it is post-regeneration, and as the stories went along, I really got into Troughton during The Evil of the Daleks. The Tomb of the Cybermen was my favorite of his stories, especially for that conversation he had with Victoria.

The Second Doctor was a kind uncle who would panic but never lose his cool and who had those big sleeves that I thought were so funny. I'm looking forward to seeing him again in The Three Doctors.

But honestly, if you were going to "end" Doctor Who, the obligation would be to end it on a way that ACTUALLY leaves it open for easy continuation later. In other words, the story ends with the day being saved, the Doctor and TARDIS are both still in existence somewhere.
