The first time around, they solved the mystery before it was time, the series went off the rails and they ended up having to conjure Windom Early to fill the remaining episodes. They said many times they regretted having done so, that's why I don't think they would do the same thing in S3. I didn't use to think that the series was about "Coop's journey back", but at this point, we've got to face that it pretty much is. There are a lot of story threads, but that's the big one, and they know it's the one the public cares about the most.

Given the plot threads left in Vegas, I think it will either be resolved in Part 12 or in 13, but there can't be much left now.

Anthony Sinclair now has to kill Dougie himself, and like you say Fuscos have the prints for Cooper, Cole and Albert are also aware of a Dougie and Janey-E on account of the ring in Briggs' stomach.

So, it all comes down to the pacing of the episode, if this is another Episode 7 or 9 in terms of pacing I can totally see the storyline coming to a close in the next episode. But I can also see the Dougie storyline taking a complete break next week in favor of BadCooper and the Bobby, Truman and Hawk stuff.

And Guilermo del Toro and Quentin Tarantino's stuff are a lot more extreme and basic violence compared to Lynch's stuff. Lynch has plenty of scenes that make you think about odd, abstract, surreal and metaphysical ideas, and comedic and heartwarming scenes that don't have violence (many times the violence is a hidden backdrop of the atmosphere of Lynch's pleasant environments). But Twin Peaks' gruesomeness is a wide range of minor to horrendous atrocities, with a nice dose of love.
