It's obvious Dorne got basically cut out of Season 6 because of the backlash. Ellaria's actress is on the main cast list, not recurring or guest, but main, yet she only has two scenes the entire season, in the first and last episode.

Kinda sucks for the actors that the writers' shitty work in S5 was hated and thus they decided to cut out almost all the plotline and simplify it in a way that made absolutely no sense. It was obvious from S5 that Doran was meant to be a longer term character and the future ally he will be in the books, then wham he's suddenly killed off.

Now they had already fucked up by having the Snakes kill Myrcella for no reason, but it would have been easy as fuck to fix Dorne in S6, by just having the running subplot be Doran's plotting against the Lannisters and forging alliances while also putting the Snakes back on track as his supporting cast of underlings, not these weird psychos they turned them into for S5.

Just say they learned their lesson or whatever and RErail their characters. Voila, Dorne made into a non-painful part of the show and you keep the good material Doran had in the books.
