Why is Diane working with DCoop?

**SPOILER WARNING**

At the end of this week's episode, we were treated by a song performed by Rebekah Del Rio. Many viewers of this series will also know her as the woman who sang in Lynch's film Mulholland Dr., in the 'Club Silencio' scene, performing *Llorando*, a Spanish version of Roy Orbison's *Crying*.

The Club Silencio scene in Mulholland Dr. is significant, because it's the breaking point in the story which reveals everything you've been seeing to that point as being an illusion. Immediately following the scene is when Rita finds the *Blue Box* and is sucked inside, and from that moment on the mysteries of the film unravel in front of you.

This week, when we see Del Rio performing *No Stars*, while wearing a black and white dress, standing in front of those red curtains, I couldn't help but think she is serving the same purpose in Twin Peaks. In recent weeks, the plot points are converging and it certainly seems like things are coming together in the narrative, so I wonder if Lynch putting Del Rio in this scene is his way of showing us he's about to open the proverbial Blue Box and show us his hand... or as much as Lynch ever shows us his hand.

Kyle said Hal Ashby's Being There is a big inspiration that helped him get into character.

I don't actually like that film, but it's exactly the same theme and character. The guy in it just repeats back what people say and acts like an infant who doesn't know how to interact with the world, yet keeps on getting promoted and wins the trust of everybody by pure luck (his name is literally Chance).

It's not a very enjoyable performance though and it drags to all hell. It's one idea stretched to over 2 hours. Dougie is an infinitely better incarnation.

There's also Paris, Texas which is a classic.

Yeah, I found Jacoby annoying up to now. I'm not too familiar with Alex Jones, but it's the old "I'm mad as hell and I won't take it anymore" rant. As far as I'm concerned, it's as bad an offender as the musical performances that go on forever, with only a few reaction shots of the audience rocking softly. Musical numbers can certainly have a role, but to end every episode with 5 to 10 minutes of music that often doesn't even seem to fit with the spirit of the show just seems like a bad decision to me.
